Perfect spot for solo or large groups. Communal kitchen with all equipment supplied, communal, very cool coastal vibe dining and lounge area, in an I onic little coastal town.
The staff are very friendly great place for a short or long stay
Convenient. Good beverage and limited options in food. It’s a small town. The location is very close to the beach.
I had a good experience at the stay. Friendly staff, nice decoration, and our room were really nice. Good value for the money. I hope to come back one day. Cheers
Beautiful property with brewery on site, access to chef’s kitchen, plenty of games for kids and walkable to incredible views! The hostess was very accommodating and friendly
Great place to visit 12 apostel
The location and facilities of the hostel is good. The reception lady is friendly. We stayed for one night and left in the morning only found a charge on my credit card of 91.53 $ the next day (surely not for the accommodation as it has been fully paid beforehand.) Neither explanation nor notice in advance for this charge and I don’t know what it is about. I called the hostel several times seeking clarification and nobody answered the phone. Guided by the automatic voice of hostel, my text messages to the number with same question went unanswered either. This is confusing and just don’t know what to do next.
Outstanding.
Outstanding. Location is perfect. Super clean; super friendly. Great beers. Pizza was so-so. Go elsewhere for dinner. Loved the lounges and TV rooms and general atmosphere. The common toilets and showers were not a problem at all. Convenient, Very clean and plenty of privacy. Rooms were immaculate. Other than the pizza quality, the only complaint is the limited hours. Likely many hostels, it is inexplicably closed during prime hours.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The people were friendly and it was nice to enjoy a beer and pizza in the shared bar and communal areas. We had a double room and happy with shared toilets and showers. The only problem was the lack of washbasins. The only washbasin was in the shared bathroom at the end of the corridor. There were small handbasins on top of the toilets but unfortunately none of these were working. If the single bathroom with the washbasin was occupied it was impossible to wash hands or teeth!
The room was cozy and very clean. There is a bar downstairs but it closes at a reasonable hour and we never heard anything from the room. Shared bathroom was never a problem. I was initially hesitant about shared bathrooms but, They were very clean and we never had to wait. There were plenty of facilities. The guesthouse had a great atmosphere, is walkable to the rest if the town. Would absolutely stay again!
Stylish room, friendly hostess
I most likely didn't read the fine print but this is more like a back-packers than a motel, which I only realised when I got here. Rooms don't have bathrooms. Toilet and showers are communal although there is one actual bathroom with shower, toilet and hand basin. There is also a general wash room with several wash basins. Everything was clean and well presented. there is a large communal recreation/dining area in the pub/pizza bar on the ground floor. Highly recommend if you don't mind this sort of thing.
Amazing! Definitely stay again!
Absolutely Amazing! Best guest house we've ever stayed in. Exceptional service, super clean, very friendly, amenities we're awesome. Couldn't fault a thing!
I didn’t realise what kind of room I was purchasing online. Shared bathrooms and no television in the room. Probably my fault as I was rushing to find a bed for the night. Didn’t stay, ended up going on. I t was disappointing there was no mention of any type of refund offered. If anything I was told I should have booked a motel!
Loved the facilities- lounge area, kitchen, bar etc
Service was fabulous
Rooms are spacious, comfortable and super clean. There's a pizza bar on-site so you don't need to look further for your food and drinks. Although bathrooms are shared, they are hyper clean and there's a large number of them, so you never have to wait. The accommodation location is also perfect for those wanting to explore more of the Great Ocean Road.
The property was OK with basic infrastructure. The good thing about this property is the vast & nice kitchen. The bad thing about the property was not have attached toilets and a Bathroom.
Room type changed but overall still good
We booked a night at the quadruple room with a private bathroom (I still have the confirmed email that states so) but somehow upon check in, the booking changed to shared bathroom on the app. We were confused and tired but still accepted the room. Room is nice and clean like photos and there’s plenty of shared bathrooms but it was just not what we initially wanted. Location is good as well, with enough parking on site. Communal dining area is welcoming to guests and public.
Things are in order and tidy.
Lovely stay. Perfect location for exploring the coast road close by. Very comfortable and clean, friendly service
Nice clean room Only downside is that you can’t take food and drinks to your room You’re only allowed to take water to your room. The owner is very strict.
Still lacking various things. Its new. They are making improvements post covid
I like the communal kitchen which is fully equipped to a kitchenette in the room. Great idea! I love the lounge area where it’s comfy and well stocked with books and board games. Adults ordered drinks and kids pizza while we hang out and played games. Will recommend this to all.
From the moment you walk in the Sow& Piglets, you feel a welcoming and comfortable vibe. Glad I stayed there. Thanks 👍
Our family of 4 had a fantastic overnight at the guesthouse. We had a really comfy cosy and quiet family ensuite room but also enjoyed the shared lounge and kitchen so much. Such an amazing space with endless amounts of comfort, games, views and on-site brews! The beer was lovely, the host made us so welcome. The location was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Not a hotel/motel & not a hostel. (Doesn’t have the convenience of a hotel & doesn’t have the relaxed vibe of a hostel.) Shower and toilets are literally stalls along the hallway, no privacy. Shower was cold.
Suit back packers
Not a guesthouse
Very loud during the night, people drinking and shouting all night. Place is definitely a hostel and not a guesthouse. Weird setup with the toilets and showers, not closed in a seperate room but just in the corridor so could hear everything from bed. You also have to walk to the other end of the corridor to wash your hands. Would definitely not recommend for a family
room was ok, although no small fridge, or a TV or even a kettle wasn't in the room. very basic, check in was too late, 4 pm.
Lovely place with a chill hostel vibe, everything was clean, great pizza and delicious beer. Good for families also.
Good location
the staff was very nice and welcoming. the food and drinks at the bar were good, and the sitting area was very cosy. I've enjoyed my stay there. I have accidentally left some of my belongings there without realizing it until the owner had sent an email to let me know and they even offered to send my stuff by post. thanks, guys and I definitely will be coming back in the future
The ladies on staff were excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Vibrant youth hostel
Clean and tidy rooms, however no lockers available in the rooms. Shower and toilet cubicles located directly off the hallway opposite rooms which I had read about in previous reviews. No issues from my point of view. Craft beer sold on site. Pizza is ‘heat and eat’ rather than freshly made which is a shame. Overall a comfortable stay and would stay again.
Fine stay
Fine stay with friendly staff. Good beers. The room we stayed in had some noise from the bathroom during the night.
Friendly staff, nice big kitchen to prepare/cook food. Room was clean. I requested lower bunk as I cannot climb but request was ignored. Fortunately, a different room was available and they accomodated my change. If another room was not available, the outcome would not have been desirable.
More like a hotel than a hostel
I was apprehensive about staying in a hostel in case it was full of teenage backpackers. We had a private room and though the bathroom was shared, we never had to wait. The showers, toilets and powder rooms were clean and there were plenty available. The beds were comfy and clean and towels were provided. It felt more like a Hotel than a traditional hostel. Downstairs, they have a Craft Brewery and Pizzeria and have games, activities to keep you entertained. You can also pre-order pancakes the night before for your breakfast. The staff were lovely and it's a stones throw from a little beach and the main street in Port Campbell.
Great Find in Port Campell
The Port Campbell hostel is an excellent choice with lots of options depending on the number of people in your party and your travel budget. The staff were wonderful and the facilities are in really good condition. I really enjoyed unwinding in the social room after a long day on the road. The pizza and beer from the on-site brewery were delicious.
Don't stay just one night. You WILL regret it.
I have done a ton of traveling in my life and this is the best Hostel I have ever stayed in. Their staff and ownership team are incredible, they have an attached brewery with amazing beer, a great atmosphere to relax and socialize with fellow travelers and a ton of insider knowledge to help you get around and enjoy all that this amazing area has to offer. Helps that its also about 100 meters from the beach and the visitor center is right across the street. And again, like I said. Don't just stay in Port Campbell one night. It is central to the best that the great ocean road has to offer i.e. 12 Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge, The Grotto, London Bridge, The Arch, Childers Cove, Wreck Beach, Tower Hill Wildlife Preserve, Port Fairy, Triplet Falls, and a ton of other amazing spots that I couldn't even get to in 7 days.
Utter disappointment
We were at the hostel at 3 to check in but only to find that the reception is closed between 2-4pm. This information should have been given to the guests; we had cut short our visit to 12 Apostles so that we can check in. When we checked into the room, we found that the room wasn't made. The saving grace is that the reception immediately "upgraded" us to an ensuite room. The bed is in bad shape and needs replacement. We could feel the springs underneath us while we slept. For the price we've paid, it's definitely not worth the money.
Great location for GOR trip
This is a nice location for stopover for the great ocean road trip. The hostel overall is really really clean with a very spacious lobby. The craft beers there are thumbs up as well!
Modern building, but zero privacy
A mixed bag: good parking, right on the main street and the shore, and a brand-new building. But one detail ruined it for me: the bathroom stalls and showers are literally on the main hallway to all the rooms, without any sort of wall. This means that people are "doing their business" right outside the doors to the rooms. The lack of privacy (and the associated sounds/smells) was a dealbreaker for me.
Great friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Staff was friendly, quite busy too. Lounge was comfortable to relax and have a beer. Room was neat and bed comfortable. Many showers and toilets and very clean.
Cheap and cozy
Guests are nice as well as staff. Anyway it's good to stay on your own
The staff understand the word 'service'
I've stayed in some pretty high end accommodation over the years but just needed a bed for the night in the local area. Hostels wouldn't normally be my choice but there are private rooms. Tje rooms and facilities are clean, very comfortable and modern. The staff are their true asset, extremely helpful and friendly.
Clean and convenient
This is one of the cleanest hostels I've encountered. There is a bit of an odd thing with the toilets and showers, where they're in cubicles like usual, but not in rooms. They cubicles are along the corridor. This wasn't a massive issue for me but it was mighty cold in the shower because the steam couldn't heat up the room.
Nice Hostel but don't book private rooms
I have stayed at hostels many times before, and this one is better than most. The staff is fantastic and there is good wifi, decent kitchen, nice lounge, etc. I am rating this place so low for one reason. I booked a single room thinking I would get a better night's sleep. It was next to the bathroom and above the kitchen and I barely got a couple hours sleep even though I was exhausted. The room vibrated every time someone shut the bathroom door and I could easily hear multiple conversations throughout the night from different rooms.
My first hostel stay and it was fantastic. Friendly staff, super clean everywhere. Close to beach and shops. Will stay again.
