Love this hotel. Very clean, amazing staff and late checkout is available until 4pm for 20$. Breakfast is perfect and plenty to choose from. Thank you for your hospitality.

I always staff at Scandic Grand Central, most convenient for train travel from the airport and the superior rooms are spacious and bed most comfortable. I’ll be back again soon

Great location to railway n trams. Rooms were lovely a spacious. Bathroom was massive. Bed ok. Breakfast was good. Some staff ok the rest need to smile and care a little. I would stay here again if I ever return to Helsinki.

Clean, friendly, comfortable, right smack in the middle of Helsinki. The room's ceiling was 2 times higher than most hotels!

Extremely clean and stylish property. The staff were very friendly and helpful in recommending places to visit. It’s literally next to the central train station, great accessibility.

Stayed here for 3 nights, and for the price I paid, this hotel truly exceeded my expectations. The central bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and the train station is just a 1–2 minute walk away. It’s also conveniently located near all the major tourist sights. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was decent. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel!

Did not like the general feel of the area.

Retro European vibe, it has everything you need and very close to station. Happy stay.

Fantstic History of the building

Scandic has a wonderful gym, and the restaurant staff are energetic and knowledgeable. The area is super convenient and close to shopping and restaurants.

Great Location and comfort.

Our stay was better than expected. It's a very short walk from the train station and they were very helpful. Beautiful hotel. The breakfast was worth staying for. Really good food that was the right temp and again the staff did anything asked. Whenever I go back to Helsinki I WILL be staying here again.

A beautiful and expansive hotel right beside the train station. The breakfast buffet was the best I've ever experienced anywhere in the world.

Overall, good experience and service. Our room had left over food under the desk which I’m assuming cleaning staff did not see, but the room was nicely sized, nicely designed and the experience was overall decent.

Couple in Helsinki

Really amazing location. Close to the main streets and main station. Breakfast was amazing, very complete and varied. Rooms were always cozy and warm and very comfortable.

Location was great, we walked to most of the places we wanted to visit; only downside Uber doesn’t have an exact pin, so I had to message them everytime to pick us from the hotel entrance. Check-in and out could be done online and our room was ready at 3pm (even though usual check-in is 4pm and we didn’t land till past 4). Leaving the hotel just meant dropping off the keycards too. Superior room was spacious and bed was comfortable. I was expecting a bathtub as listed, but there was only a rain shower. We only housekept our room alternate days, yet they left our used tea cups unwashed, so that was a little unpleasant. The common sauna was wonderful though with fresh towels, shower amenities and lockers. Gym was well equipped. Breakfast was quite the spread, but the same everyday. I only had it for 3 days and the scrambled eggs were yummy, so no complaints.

Perfect place to stay for early train departures the following day

Loved the look … other than the carpet looking a little worn a few places (to be expected in a hotel) it reminded me of the grand hotels of days gone by! The rooms were spacious and quiet, the breakfast was plentiful with lots of charming nooks to sit and eat. Convenient to the train station. I didn’t get to check out the spa/sauna areas.

Very convenient for travellers who want to stay in the centre close to public transport, restaurants, theatres, shopping. Quiet, modern, clean, great breakfast!

perfect hotel in many ways except that the windows cannot be open !

This hotel is average at best. The room wasn’t clean and it’s quite tiny. The check in staff are not the most friendly.

Great central location, really nice hotel

Such a great location and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pretty good, although it’s such a massive hotel with such little space to sit abe eat. The room was really clean and decorated nicely and the bed was so comfy. The only thing missing for me was a kettle in the room - it would have been nice to have a hot drink back in the room after such a cold day. But other than that it was brilliant.

Great location and service

Great central location. Right next to the central train station where there’s easy access to trams, metros and buses. Rooms are clean, great breakfast. Theres no coffee maker/hot water kettle or teas/coffee in the rooms. You have to ask the front desk and they can provide kettles/teas etc. great hotel and service

Comfortable clean stay

My stay at the Scandic Grand Central Helsinki was wonderful. I was between a flight from Helsinki and a train to Rovaniemi and it was so conveniently close to where you can get the train from the city to the airport and all the longer trains, both at the Central Station. It was close to great dining and drink options but tucked off the beaten path so there was no noise. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. The only thing was breakfast was only decent and it was very crowded but it was included so it worked. I would recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Helsinki for a night or for a longer trip.

Perfect location, high quality and extensive all you can eat breakfast, well appointed rooms, modern high end decor and fittings. Best hotel I’ve stayed in for some time

The staff was wonderful and welcoming from the moment I set foot on the premises until my departure. I had all my needs and questions addressed quickly and easily. The breakfast buffet was divine, and the breadth of food and drink options was tremendous -- don't sleep in and miss it. The location couldn't be more perfect -- a few steps from the train station, surrounded by museums and shopping, with easy access to all the public transit options. If you're staying here, definitely get the Helsinki Card with the metro options. It'll totally be worth it for all you can see on foot and otherwise.

Great location next to Central railway station. Rooms were very quiet despite prolixity to the railway. Very welcoming staff at reception. Luggage storage was available. Delicious breakfast buffet. We would definitively stay again.

We had stayed another hotel in Helsinki before Scandic Grand Central, which is Origjnal Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Helsinki. We found that Origjnal Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Helsinkiwas much better, the service and the property itself are much better. When we checked in to Scandic Grand Central, we found that the room has high pitching noise, and we tried to call reception a few times and no one pick up, after around 5 times, someone pick up the phone and asked us to call back or come to reception later, cos they are so many people checking on. So we waited until late afternoon, we went down to reception and complained about the pitching noise, we’re even shown the video with the noise, the man don’t know what to do and asked another lady, but she was busy with other customer and kind of ignored it. So the man came up to our room and checked it, he can hear the noise and at the end he pressed the button on the air conditioning screen, the noise is gone. Because of this, he doesn’t want to change the room for us for all the hassle. But the noise came back another 2 days mornings which was so annoying! The price I paid was more than Origjnal Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Helsinki, if I would choose again, I won’t stay in this hotel!

A happy trip in Helsinki

The check-in staff Ms Tali was very efficient and courteous. It took about 5 minutes and I got my. Room key card. When I needed a heater in my room, the staff got me one. Ms Vilma managed to contact and spoke to the taxi who fetched me earlier to the hotel to cancel the airport booking trip as i do not speak Finnish.

Too much hassle getting into the property with luggage

Close proximity to central station yet it was quiet with a view into the central courtyard. Quaint period details and retained features from the history of the building were interesting to explore. Staff were helpful and pleasant. A lovely hotel. Right next to the metro and trams also. Lots of dining and shopping options nearby.

Breakfast buffet was great, but same items everyday! Room was nice, but AC doesn’t work and we had to open window. Can’t beat convenience of location in middle of city center and train station. Overall, happy with stay.

The room was good,vut the spaces ,long corridors, poor marks and sighns should be much more cisible, and the atmosphere of the office house,but not the cosy ,exept of reception, also there where no ramp to bring up the loggage into the doors. Why?

The Central hotel is next to the train station in the heart of Helsinki. It is a beautiful old hotel. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast fantastic!

Very large hotel and quite a walk to room due to size and room location. Originally booked a queen bed room (2121) and it was on back corner of hotel and away from reception. Room was very tight and view overlooking side street. Very depressing so sought an upgrade that i was willing to pay for and moved to king bed with extra room (3040) which was excellent. Service from front desk was excellent and i was not made to feel bad for requesting the change. Strongly suggesting paying the extra if you can. First day of breakfast was ordinary with much of the food i.e. scrambled eggs empty excellent for slops, bacon was similar and sitting in water. Fruit selection (bruised watermelon pineapple) poor compared to other hotel stays on 3 week scandinavia trip. Day 2 service was better with everything refreshed and topped up. Location is good for getting around to shopping or restaurants.

Excellent experience

We booked a suite and had the best experience. The attached private sauna was divine and the extra space was quite nice.

Scandic Grand Central is a great recently opened hotel with great rooms and being so central makes it ideal to explore Helsinki. Also recommend for architecture lovers as the building is a classic.

Fantastic building, the interior, rooms, bathroom are beautiful too. Really well cleaned and maintained every day. Location is perfect too, set back from the busy station but a short walk to restaurants and main city sights. I would stay again and highly recommend it

We had a great time in Helsinki! The Scandic Grand Central was walkable to just about everything. There were plenty of dining options around. The breakfast buffet was enormous!! It had something for everyone on it! Everyone was very friendly. Would definitely go back and stay there again!!

Easy walk from the train station, this hotel is a grand old hotel on a major city square. Beautifully restored.

Overall a great sleep because of the good bed, bedding, quiet and dark. The buffet breakfast was just amazing, especially those cinnamon buns. I did find a lack of amenities in the room, no coffee maker or kettle not even a Do not disturb sign, etc.

Convenient for the station

The room was spacious and the breakfasts outstanding. However, I am mystified by Scandic's eco-friendly light-touch cleaning regime: although I appreciate cleaners can be heavy-handed with all sorts of cleaning products I can't see what prevented them from washing a mug, wiping down the tea/coffee area and replenishing tea coffee and milk as they were in on a daily basis. Reception did help out from supplies downstairs. Beds were never very carefully made and the day before we left sheets were chaged rather wastefully. It was all rather contradictory. We wouldn't want a guest in a room in our own home to feel neglected and that is the impression we received. All rather a pity as it is a wonderful building in the very best possible position for a visit to the capital.

The hotel room was fantastic: convenient, beautifully decorated and calm. However, the building is luke a maze, especially if you need accessible lifts or ranps. The breakfast area was chaotic. There was no flow and hotel guests were going back and forth in a cramped space.

Great staff and location

This is a massive hotel right beside the train station in Helsinki. It's an old historic hotel from what we could tell. Hallways are dark but unique with doorways leading to each room. The location is good. The staff are friendly. The included breakfast is decent. We stayed in the Superior room. The beds were comfortable.

This is a beautiful hotel with a fabulous breakfast included every day. Right near the city center. It is basically connected to the train station - which makes it convenient. My room overlooked the courtyard and was quiet. I enjoyed the hotel very much.

Quiet, close to shopping and restaurants and train station and a wonderful breakfast!

A historic building thoughtfully restored, retaining many architectural features from its former use as offices for the rail station next door. If you like historic buildings, it is an added bonus. A guide leaflet is provided for a self conducted building tour, which is worth doing. We stayed for 8 days so were offered a ground floor room overlooking the pretty central courtyard for quietness. The room was indeed very quiet for the whole stay. However, also read reviews from others as quietness depends on room situation. (Some overlook rail tracks / occasional events in courtyard). We chose a basic room, which was still very comfortable but lacked desk space. Mini bar and safe were provided, but no kettle (provided in more deluxe rooms). This might have been inconvenient had we not been very near to the reception tea and coffee machine for guests. Room cleanliness and room service was excellent except for the rug which needed a trip to one of Helsinki's carpet washing platforms (some other reviews mention this). Shower pressure was best I've had in a hotel and bath filled very fast, though this may vary as you rise higher in the hotel (ours was ground floor). Breakfast was good, varied and plentiful. Hotel position for transport is excellent with station, bus and tram stops only minutes away. Staff were very helpful and friendly for the whole stay. We both decided we will definitely book this hotel again, in spite of the few minor niggles mentioned.

Such a wonderful stay at Grand Central Helsinki! All stuff are super nice. Very central of Helsinki, so transportation is easy, walkable to many places. My hubby said gym has everything he needed. I booked “classic room” & the room was spacious and very quiet. I requested the room with bathtub & there was a bathtub in the room. I think everybody mentioned, but the breakfast was another highlight of this hotel. So much options. I tried not to eat too much, but it was impossible!! There is a microwave the guest can use while we stay (not in the room. breakfast area) the kettle is not in the room, but you can ask at the front desk to borrow. There is a locked storage room next to the reception. Guest themselves are in/out, but there is always a stuff right next to the storage room. If small bags, you can store it in locked locker in the storage room. I didn’t feel unsafe over there. Only thing, there is no self laundry machine in the hotel or laundry mat near by (walking distance kind), but we managed our 5 nights stay here. Both my husband and I had really good time at the hotel, and we would stay again if we are lucky enough to come back to Helsinki one day!

Art nouveau decor and recently renovated rooms make this hotel excellent especially with its proximity to the central railway station. The breakfasts were amazing.

Very friendly staff. Had an early flight and since my breakfast was part of the package they suggested I take breakfast to go at 5.00 am….that was an awesome suggestion…little details mean a lot!

We loved this hotel, being basically attached to the rail station it was extremely easy to find the hotel and surprisingly very quiet. The hall ways are long, but that’s due to the sheer size of this hotel. The breakfasts were excellent, although it does tend to get a little busy. Due to this, they encourage guests to book their seating time which was appreciated. We were celebrating a special occasion and so the hotel gifted us with a free celebratory drink which was a nice touch.

Great hotel in a lovely historic building attached to the railway station. The central location makes it ideal for exploring the city, either on foot or by tram/bus. I had a large room with comfortable bed, Very quiet and well furnished. Good buffet breakfast. Lovely bar with great atmosphere and a good range of drinks. All staff friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again.

Hard to beat the location which means the city is on your doorstep and the waterfront is a short tram ride or walk away. We had a great stay!
