This is the second time we’ve stayed at Polaris, and we will have no hesitation booking again! We love staying at the ski hill, especially for events and the rooms are always clean and comfortable! I would give staff and service a five star - but it seems whenever I call (in business hours) I don’t actually get to speak to anyone, but leaving a voice mail they do get back to you!
Bit confusing to access but room was great. No on-site eating or staff but once you figure it out everything was great
Overall pleased with our stay 😊
Checking in was a little confusing - check-in is at a different location than the building where the room is.
Upon arrival they had no record of our reservation. The hotel clerk made us wait while she checked in other clients, even though we were first. Tried to double charge us.
Hotel was difficult to find and check in was in another hotel
The room was great, and the staff member that checked us in and out was very helpful and thorough. The only negative was the elevator being out of order when we arrived, but it was working again by the next morning. It’s a short building anyhow, so an elevator isn’t the end of the world. We’d definitely stay again.
Signage is unclear resulting in confusion during checkin.
stay was great, but pool wasnt available for 3 days, the hot days🌞🌞
The room was good but the area we were in was having some renovations done in the halls. No staff at Polaris and none of the restaurants were open although the email I received from them stated they would be open. I understand they were open but closed when they shut the ski hill down. They need to update their email.
It's on a ski resort. Nice view from our window. You can see the ski hills.
Great stay
Last minute ski day for one
Kimberley was a cute and family friendly resort which was great, however our experience at the Polaris Lodge wasn't the best. The lodge seems to be a separate part of the trickle Creek Lodge so if you need anything, you have to walk over to the other side. This includes checking-in/front desk (staff we're amazing!) and pool/hot tub. The place was under renovation when we got there as well, so it was a bit of a mess and dusty. The temperature control didn't work so even if we had air con on, it was roasting and had to open the windows (during the winter). The rooms we're pretty nice, but there was a lack of basic amenities (blankets, kitchen stuff, dead pillows, etc.) that just put a damper on things. Pretty "meh" experience.
All good
Always enjoy our stays in Kimberley. The reservation was lost for some reason, but they made it all right. So all good.
The staff were awesome, the room was just ok, it really needs to be updated for the rate with a few more amenities
A Little Pricey for the Room Size
We stayed during the summer so there was NO ONE there. Given that we were the only guests we wonder why we were given a room that had the AC/heater mechanism next to the room. No Kleenex. 1 hanger in closet. Only 2 drawers for clothes. The down comforter was too hot; without it, too cool. Probably fine for skiers but don't bring much. No equipment allowed in the room.
TV was so old as to be almost unviewable. Offsite check in and poor instructions in how to access hotel. Nice place "in season" but a hassle otherwise.
Very welcoming and easy to get around the village
Great view and I just walk for 1 minute to be at the ski resort.
Found a good room for a good price
nothing open at the hotel, not cafe no restaurant nothing- room was substandard compared to other visits to the same facility. bed was very uncomfortable, poor quality linens - no kleenex in room - two coffee filters, lights burnt out in bathroom - carpets worn.
Na
The maid staff did not set up this room properly prior to our check in. There were only 2 hangars in the closet. There was no facial tissue in the room ( mistake corrected by desk staff). We were supposed to have coffee mugs but didn’t (another mistake corrected by desk staff on second day). The hair dryer did not work. It took until the next day to correct. The resort seemed to use Covid as an excuse to have very minimal service (none). We used our coffee pods the first day, and had to phone the next day for more. We had to enquire about garbage removal, and they told us to put it in the hallway. I must say overall, the front desk staff were excellent- they had to solve all these issues for us, and they always came through. The Polaris lodge has no ice machine. Smaller rooms do not have a fridge with a freezer. We were expecting a fairly upscale stay at a ski resort, but this was a very low grade experience. I have never had this low level of basic service either in remote tropical locations or at bargain basement chain hotels here in Canada. This is no where near getting good value for $200 per night (after tax).
No bar microwave. No daily clean up. No ice in either building. Unit 310B does have a patio but the neighbours AC is like a jet engine. I did appreciate the friendly staff at the front desk and restaurant and bar that was open Thursday to Sunday. Totally enjoyed the pool and hot tub.
Location to townsite Hotel is showing its age the lower level was not open however had not been used since ski season so it looked abided
I loved staying right on the hill watching sunset over the last run! I loved the open courtyard between the 2 buildings but was sad to see it mostly empty due to Covid. I look forward to returning once we get back to the world of gatherings and entertainment!
Good
Great location priced appropriately
The location and staff were amazing. The room was dated. Would have been nice to have a microwave or something to heat food. Verry limited on the pillows aswell other than that it was a great stay
Lovely resort and hill. Friendly night staff. Clean, but that’s it.
Very nice, not comfy and older. No communication. Need to bring everything from home as they had nothing to supply us with. Friendly night staff, amazing hill to ride. Clean.
Great location right at the base of Kimberley Ski Resort
Not worth the extra $$
the place could use some renovation and the utensils need to be restocked as there was a lot missing. The rooms in Trickle creek lodge are nicer for less money.
Nice atmosphere, clean and very friendly staff. Could use upgrading in the bed and pillows.
Not the greatest experience.
For the price of 250 ish per night i was not entirely impressed. It was a quick 2 night stay, and i had just spent 3 nights sleeping in a tent in jasper during a long hike. So i picked this hotel for comfort. No change of towels or shampoo or soaps, no coffee, no cleaning or change of bed sheets, that with a broken bathroom shower faucet (which i made work). Only restaurant on the hill (in an ajacent building) closed at 9pm. This was not open after a long day of fishing. I should have stayed downtown at the kimberly suits. Although not as nice of rooms the amenities and closeness to options and other service would have made it worth while. Especially considering the $ in room savings.
Great location. We were there to check out the bike trails and there were a ton. Hotel is a little dated. The reception and help at check in was great. The pool was nicely heated. The one short fall was the bedding. No fitted sheets on the bed and it was very uncomfortable to get a good night sleep.
Beautiful setting on the Kimberley Ski Hill with mountain views all around. I loved the morning sunrises. The suite was great as we didn't have to rush out for food. We did have to phone and request a few things like cooking tools and dish soap. The room was very comfortable, spacious and decor was warm and welcoming. I look forward to another visit.
Great for Ski In/Ski Out
This is the best Ski in/Ski Out location on the hill. The lockers are literally at the base of the hill. Unlike many vacation rentals there is no basic grocery items, for instance there is no salt, pepper, spices, oil etc. The only things there are coffee, tea, sugar, powdered creamers. The dishes were adaquate but sparse, only 3 bowls etc. Housekeeping came in daily, but it seemed all they did was replenish dishwasher tabs and toiletries. Our toilet was visibly dirty, but they did not clean it and there were no supplies there to clean it yourself.
responsiveness to comments, nice front desk service, good underground paking
ski in/out was great! Bed sheets were not crisp and bed was not neatly made when we arrived Room was above the bar, heard band and walls were thin heard kids next door in morning
Great on mountain location. Super friendly people. Nice comfortable room for the whole family
Best location. Amazing food. Clean and quiet. Front desk was great help when we decided to extend our stay.
Great mountain views, room was clean, and the underground parking was a plus!! Hot tub was accessible, but at another location.
Polaris lodge is the most basic of hotel rooms. Nothing fancy. Bare bones. Worked for my purposes. Longer stay might want something with a bit more space and comfort.
Nice room. Was all we needed. Nice to have heated parking.
Great location but room wasn't very clean. The bed pillows were covered in someone elses hair when we showed up....
Perfect
This was the highlight of our trip. We loved Polaris lodge. Right at base of ski hill. Very quiet. Perfectly comfortable. Loved our time in Kimberley.
We enjoyed our stay at Polaris Lodge. The hotel itself is a little confusing as you don’t check in there, you check in at the hotel next door, Trickle Creek Lodge.
Ski in/ Ski out, heated indoor underground parking
Great suite. Outstanding value for $$ Very challenging check in process. They need to communicate much better about having to check in at another hotel. Frustrating because it took me 30 min to figure this all out after a long trip at the end of the day. However, very impressed with the accommodation
Trickle creek is lovely property. Poor housekeeping this visit.
Location and Mountain view was great! Building needs a little TLC but the room was great!
Weekend getaway
Once we found the place, no one was here and we walked around the entire building. We tried contacting the online “email or message the manager” but there was no response nor was there a phone number to call listed on the site. We drove around and went to another building to ask and the front counter staff said we finally found it and booked us in. We lucked out walking in the other building to ask. The room was great and had a good sleep.
Very nice and lovely clean place and I will recommend to any my friends and family
Because I wanted to bring my dog I was moved to Tricle Creek main building. Very pet friendly. Lovely hotel and staff. Clean room. Pool and hot tub dated. Thanks
Nice lodges, dining room (dinner was excellent), comfortable condo room with small kitchen and a deck. Right next to ski lift. 10 minutes drive from downtown Kimberley for restaurants, stores.
beautiful fully equipped suite - 12:00 pm check out - very quiet property. underground parking lots of storage space in the unit and nice view of the mountains, stayed here before and will again
We were in town for a wedding. There are 3 resorts within 1km from each other. The Polaris resort is definitely the oldest. To our surprise the front desk was actually closed (with a paper written on the door). You have to check into the neighbouring lodge. Hallways/common areas are very outdated and carpet is stained. We tried checking in for 5:30pm (check in time was 4:00pm) and were told that our room wasn't ready yet. Waited an additional hour for our key. Front desk staff wouldn't even give us a key so we could park in underground parking. Honestly, don't waste your time on the Polaris Lodge. Spend the extra $100 and stay at the Mountain Spirit Resort which is a 2 minute walk away.
Misrepresented on Expedia no ammenities, bars or restaurants. Check in in another hotel. Rooms are ok.
Nice one bedroom resort
We stopped here on our way from Banff to US, it is nice resort, quiet and comfortable.
Wi-Fi didn’t work...there was no internet connection and they just didn’t care.
Amazing location for the cost
Again to be right on the mtn and it be a cheap cost was excellent. Building was dated but the bed was fine so worth the money for sure
Empathy training needed
Check in was overly complicated by circle drive to Trickle Creek. Then frustrating by need to retrace drive back to Polaris. Felt like the poor relative bedded in staff quarters a safe distance from the big house where all the facilities were, even had to leave building for ice. Security around the need to not only show but to copy identification seemed excessive. Room clean and cleaning staff very good albeit had to track them down to get a waste basket. Bartender was very talented and attentive but she seemed to have been stuck with the dual roles of bartender and restaurant supervisor as she made us all aware by barking out orders and complaining about inexperienced staff. Upon arrival I could not activate the Wi-Fi. I phoned the front desk and encountered the same dreaded message centre that had annoyed me when I tried to contact the Hotel from town earlier. After going through a myriad of options had to leave a message.Same result. Wi-Fi fixed 10 minutes later by a hotel work around. On the morning of my departure I discovered that the shower was not working! At end of day my stay in this beautiful location/hotel was marred by the desk staff’s inability to simply say they were sorry for the Hotel shortcomings when made aware of them vs the indifference shown. No “Hope you have a pleasant stay” no “how was your stay”. I had to tell them about the shower as they did not ask. Most of all there was no “sorry for the inconvenience, trust we made it right."
Great: Hot Tub, Cool Tub, and Swimming Pool. View. Awesome: food at Buckhorn and Main The room: Queen Bed was lumpy, on wheels and looked like a Double bed. Pillows should have been replaced a long time ago. Sofa bed not much better. We have stayed at better for less.
It far surpassed my expectations. It was lovely! I have no critiques. Will definitely be back!
Clean & Comfortable
We wanted to cut our road trip from Banff to Spokane in half and decided to stay in Kimberley, where we have stayed several times before. Rates were pretty high at Trickle Creek Lodge, where we have stayed before, but we noticed the Polaris Lodge, right next door, was within our price range. It was not as nice as Trickle Creek Lodge, definitely could use an update, but the room and linens were clean and the king bed was comfortable enough for our one night stay. Small fridge for items I needed to refrigerate was nice (though it didn't have a freezer section for my ice packs). Not many people were here, but the walls/ceilings seemed paper thin as we could hear voices next door or upstairs later in the evening. View of slopes and ski lifts were pretty cool. Could imagine this place in season with all the skiers; pretty convenient to everything and underground parking (with very narrow entry doors, btw) would be a plus during heavy snowfalls. Restaurant next door at Trickle Creek Lodge and hot tub and pool are available for use even if staying at the Polaris Lodge, though we didn't have enough time to take advantage of these amenities on this trip.
Our room was large and comfortable. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.
Liked that it was a base if ski hill... liked underground parking! Room was small but clean!
Best place we have ever stayed in. Quiet. Underground parking, awesome because it was raining the whole time we were there.
very nice property. Would definitely come here in the winter
No signs, no ice, no staff
The room was fine but there were a couple notable issues. 1) No staff on site. All building doors were locked and I had to go let my visitors in whenever they arrived. 2) no ice machine on the premise. I had to go a different hotel to get ice 3) upon arrival for check-in the building was completely locked up and didn’t appear to be in operation. After a while walking around looking confused a local gentleman directed me to a different hotel nearby. I had to go to this hotel to check-in to my hotel. There were no signs posted on the premises telling me this. Finally, when I arrived at the other hotel to check-in to my hotel there was no staff at that desk either. Just a sign saying “be back soon”. Anyway, the staff member did arrive before long and all was good after that.
alpine setting even in off-season, friendly receptionist.
Room was great. Very clean, quiet and new. Only disappointing point was that check-in was at a different lodge. We had no idea until someone at the bar downstairs told us check-in was a lodge over. Would have been nice to now this so there was no running around carrying our luggage.
Love Kimberley
Great location right at the lift. They seemed a bit understaffed...we made some housekeeping requests that took too long to be remedied.
Property was vlean and comfortable. No breakfast places gad to drive into town
It was hard having to trek over to trickle lodge to check in and out and use the hot tubs. Not much to choose from in the way of food
Cozy
Very nice Staff. Very accomodating and friendly overall very nice, cozy and quiet visit :)
Some general up keep needed in units. Tightening cupboard knobs etc. Otherwise great stay and location. Ideal ski in out location.
Excellent position. Pokey room with no where to put anything.
Liked the fact that there was a washer/dyer in th unit
Parked close to lodge to find doors locked and sign to have to trek around village with all the luggage to find the Trickle Creek hotel to check in, walk back to Polaris and key didn’t work, back to Trickle Creek...gong show
Fridge was squealing badly the first night so I unplugged it and had a better sleep the second night. Check in was a little awkward with no lobby or reception in this lodge and having to find the other lodge to check in.
Facility is quite old - in need of modernization - especially lighting. It was very dark in the room. The check-in service in the facility was closed with poor directions as to the alternate check-in location.
Nice one-bedroom condo unit close to the restaurants and ski lifts at Kimberley Alpine Village. Staff very accommodating. Great for this destination, but beyond walking distance to the restaurants and shops of the Kimberley Bavarian Village. Good value.
Finding entrance was confusing. Recommend bringing your own pillows.
Good room bad communication
We stayed 2 nights the room was clean and this was the only good thing . The air conditioning in the room was so loud you could not use it at night . On the first day we got up to no power . They never said anything to us about the power being off at check in although it was a scheduled power outage. The hotel food was super over priced for what you got go in to town there is better food there .
Great location, terrible beds
This was an amazing location, and the room was spacious, however though the description said Mountain View we looked out at a dirt parking lot. The king size bed which was described as a queen was actually two twin mattress put together 😩 our 15 year old son stayed on the pull out and it was dingy, slanted downwards and you could feel every spring in the thin mattress. We were happy we were there for only one night. Staff was super friendly.
Enjoying BC getaways
I feel that we should of been informed that there really wasn’t anything open after 8:00 pm the room was fine,,but none of the amenities were,, having to trek over to another hotel if we wanted to get a drink from a vending machine to using the pool or hot tub was not what we imagined,, under communication I rated good, only because the personal at the front desk was very polite and lovely.
Not quite a hotel
If you understand this is a ski lodge, not a hotel, everything else falls into place No street number for an address, more difficult for GPS I arrived after dark, no sign saying this is the Polaris Hotel. Had to find the front desk, which is actually shared with a sister hotel almost a block's walk away. Sure glad it wasn't raining No sign of life in the building that actually was the Polaris hotel. Room was smaller than a standard hotel, one bed, one desk, one chair for the desk. Mp upholstered chair or couch. However the place was clean, underground parking was available. price was good. I'd stay again.
Very nice summer stay
The Polaris Lodge met all our expectations and was a great value for summer. Very friendly and helpful staff. The onsite restaurant was excellent for dinner (just wish it was open for breakfast).
Getaway
We were very happy with the stay, very well kept, clean, and great staff.
Nice room could have better mattresses
Nicely kept room and hotel. Signage could have been better to indicate where check in etc is. Beds were very uncomfortable
Great stay. Amazing location right at the base of the ski lift. Spacious room, comfortable bed, friendly staff. Great apres ski band at the Stemwinder, and delicious dinner at the Trickle Creek Restaurant whose name escapes me at the moment. Ski lockers are handy, as was the heated underground parking. We also enjoyed using the hot tub over at Trickle Creek. The only thing that is less than perfect is the soundproofing, but our next door neighbors quieted down at a respectable time so we all got a good night's sleep. I would totally stay here again.
Very nice!
We were extremely pleased with our three night stay at Polaris Lodge. It's a true ski in and out property, with a convenient ski locker with plenty of room. The room was clean and comfortable. Everyone we encountered there was friendly and nice. Our vacation was perfect in every way.
The rooms with the hill view are big and clean but they are extremely loud since they are above the bar and you can aslo hear the guest of the room next open and closw their doors. Also, the mattress could be change to newer
Would not recommend.
I would not recommend this hotel for many reasons. We request a king size bed. Ended up with 2 single beds pushed together. They where Extremely hard and uncomfortable, had to worst sleep of our lives over 3 nights. Considering this hotel is close to the ski hill it's not equipped to be able to hang any of your wet jackets/ski pants/gloves. Some hooks would be nice. The walls are paper thin, so you hear everything your neighbors are doing. No matter what the time and we where woken up several times during the night. Shower had no pressure what so ever! This hotel is run down and old and could use a major face lift. The only one thing we enjoyed about this hotel was the under ground parking and the convince of the ski hill right outside the door. I will never book here again.
Nice Hotel. Great location. Needs some repair
This is the perfect place to stay for your ski vacation. However there were a few things that could be improved. The hot tub wasn't working, nor the toaster or coffee maker in the room. We only stayed 1 night, so no big deal but hot tub not working disappoint the kids.
Kimberly Alpine Resort
Loved this place. Great hotel, beautiful town. I'm not going to add anymore. I don't know why you have to fill so much of this out.
Worst sleep ever
The hide-a-bed was the most uncomfortable thing ever.
Hockey get away.
It was a lovely suite, great surroundings, friendly staff. We didn’t have a car with us so it was a little out of the way. Nice time of year to visit.
