The manager is awesome! He remembered me from a previous visit and gave me a deal on a ground floor room because he had nothing available on the second floor and the third floor is a lot of stairs for me. Super considerate!

Disappointed

So firstly the good, we traveled on an overnight bus from Mexico city, we arrived at about 11am, they allowed us to check in early, lovely. There is an ample kitchen with plenty storage in the fridges and utensils. The coffee and bread in the morning are appreciated to make a full meal easier. The bed was comfortable. The bad. Housekeeping is non existent, we stayed 5 nights without the bathroom bin being changed. (We changed it ourselves) Our ceiling fan had about an inch of dust on it. The bathroom ceiling was covered in mould, the corners of the room felt like they hadn't been cleaned properly in months. The dish towel in the kitchen was always soaking wet and was the same each day. The curtain in the room is very thin so the light comes through easily. The advertised 24/7 reception is not a thing. Unfortunately on our last night someone must have fallen foul of this as at 1-2am (yes the whole hour) we were woken up to the telephone ringing and knocking on the front door, we do not speak Spanish nor did we want to open the door and invite people inside without knowing who they were. The neighbourhood, although very close to the centre is not the nicest. We encountered no problems however we were very safe and made sure to be back at a reasonable hour. If the hostel had been clean, had offered even a courtesy bin change daily and had actually offered the services advertised then this review would be extremely different.

The property owner was excellent

I had a lovely experience at the hostal. Alejandro, the owner, and Jesús, the employee I saw the most often, were super friendly and responsive to requests. The cleaning lady came once a week, other staff and guests kept things tidy in between, and the atmosphere was fun. Things to know before you stay: - If you need towels or toilet paper for your room, make sure to ask for them at the front desk. - There is no air conditioning (just fans) in the rooms because the climate is temperate. - Some guests there have chosen to stay for a long period of time, and they may have habits and routines set in place, so it has roommate vibes at times.

I had a lovely stay at this Hostel. Jesus and Enrique were very kind and helpful, even though I didn't speak much Spanish. I booked a room with a double bed and was nice to have my entire room to myself. I felt very safe in the hostel and the neighborhood, and it was only a 10-minute walk from downtown! I would stay here again!

Room is clean, and living condition is normal. However, during my stay, two toilets were broken.

My only complaint about this excellent hostel is that there are not enough electrical outlets in the dorm rooms. The breakfast offering was great and even included eggs for clients to cook for themselves. The mints at the front desk were exc lent, and Alejandro is a wonderfully friendly host!

Lucy was very helpful and an awesome host. The area seemed generally safe to me, but make sure to use standard precautions and be aware of your surroundings anywhere in the city.

Good location, but best hospitality

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. Location is good, a few blocks to the main avenue. The room is comfortable. There is a big living room and a huge kitchen to prepare meals. But most importantly, the hospitality of the owner, Ms. Lucy, was the best. She took care of arranging a tour and even at taxi at 6am for me. And the environment was very warm and welcoming.

very unsafe area

I didn't give the hotel all stars for 2 reasons. First, I always had a hard time flushing the toilet because it would always get stuck. Lastly, we had just come from Puerto Vallarta and we got bit by small jelly fish like creatures, when we slept the first night we couldn't sleep because our skin was itchy we thought it was due to our tiny tiny bites. The next two nights it was the same thing, but now we thought it was due to mosquitos because we left the door open since it was hot (beginning of July) the next few night we kept having the same issue with hives on our skin, so I told the hotel keeper that the bed probably had bed bugs, but she insisted that our bites did not looked that they were due to bed bugs, she changed the sheets and cover and said that she inspected the bed and found nothing... I also checked .. but to be honest I wasn;t sure what I was looking for. So we stayed for a week and never really found out what it was. I stay at 5 different places and this was the only one where we didn't slept comfortably. Hotel keeper said that the previous couple wrote a review and didn't mentioned anything about bed bugs. Other than that service was great, they do laundry for 50 pesos, she can order uber for you we tried to our our app but it was easier for to do, she cleaned room when we asked, the area is safe, it its about 15 min walking to the Cathedral. Beware of taxis, they will overcharge you like you have no idea, walk, ask her to order an uber for you, use subway

Great hostel and room with super helpful Lucy

After reading the other guests reviews, I can only add that they are accurate and that Lucy made a difference in my stay. The private room with balcony overlooking the courtyard was super pleasant and quiet. I enjoyed my stay a lot and even extended for several days. Definitely booking again when the same room will be available upon my return to Guadalajara. Thank you Lucy

Place was great. This is not a party hostel. Very quiet. Room I booked was good. The water was hot and I had good night sleep.

Great environment and atmosphere. This is what I thought of the hotel at first than I knew that what drove this was the manager of the hotel. Lucy is an emphatic, humble woman and very helpful in providing me with information on places to visit in Guadalajara. She takes good care of us travelers. She offer me breakfast during my stay too. I seldom do reviews but this one was the exception.

Feels like home..

Always stay here when I am in GDL..place is comfortable and clean..Luci even helps me with suggestions on places to go..the coffee is always fresh and brewing at breakfast time..and the continental breakfast is enough to start the day with..like to wash my clothes.old style with the tina..alot of places to eat around here..and a short walk to the historical part of the city..will return as long as I keep returning to GDL..Luci always calls an uber for me when i leave

I liked that it was clean. However, there was no air conditioning, just a fan. Also, the room was close to the street and it was very noisy due to traffic. Furthermore, we had to prepare out own breakfast.

I really liked this place. Lucy was extremely helpful and kind. She made the hotel feel lore like a home. The hotel is well located it is close to parks and transportation as well.

Great stay!

Very clean hostel, good WiFi and friendly host

Olga Querida is a gem. The absolute best part of Olga Querida is Lucy, the woman who manages the front desk and the hostal. She is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, sympathetic. She helped my wife and me us with so many things. For example, the 1st day we were there, she didn't just tell where we could find a place to get haircuts, she took us there. She was our Spanish tutor and guide to Mexico, answering our countless questions, always with a smile. She went out of her way to make sure that we felt warmly welcomed and that Ola Querida was our home while we were in Gudadalajara. The accommodations at Olga Querida were simple, but clean. Our room was tidied daily. The floors and the bathroom were clean as well. The towels and sheets were clean, beyond a doubt. This is really important to my wife and me. We first chose Olga Querida because it had a shared kitchen. We had our customary oatmeal each morning. There was a large refrigerator to store the fresh food items we bought at a nearly Soriana, and Olga Querida provided fresh eggs for the guests to cook, coffee, cold cereal, buns, bread. The dining table,next to the kitchen, was a place for wonderful conversations each morning. We met wonderful people from France, Indonesia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico and the US. We would never have had that at a big hotel. The patio and the living room were also wonderful, relaxing places to feel at home. We were sad to say goodbye to Olga Querida, and to Lucy.

Location is good for walking around. Making your own breakfast is good but would recommend to make it clear that breakfast is not prepared.

Make sure you ask for photos of the room that you are reserving because the room we got upon arrival was half the size of the pics and not the same room at all. Fortunately we were moved to a better room upstairs. Kitchen/living area is tricky with a baby/toddler as the stairs are open, but the space and kitchen conveniences are wonderful. Staff was very nice and helpful about trip ideas and Doña Lucy gifted my baby some toys to keep him happy. Very sweet. Cable was sketchy on tv. Other kids were there and played with mine, which was great for everyone!

You'll want to return

Very nice place on a quiet street. Attentive and friendly staff, attractive settings around a multi-story interior courtyard with a lot of plants and my room was decorated with a fair amount of bric-a-brac. This place shows a woman's touch, which is good. An interesting neighborhood with plenty of things worth seeing within easy walking distance. WiFi flitted in and out, although I didn't try connecting outside my room.

Very central

I had never stayed in a Hostel before, I am glad that I stayed here and it was a very pleasant experience. Lucy is one very nice lady, she is always making sure that you have everything you need and makes sure at all times that you are comfortable. She is great at giving you any info that you might need. If I go back to Guadalajara I wouldn't hesitate to stay at Olga Querida, perfect place for a budgeted trip.

Poca informacion cuando ingresas al hostal,no hay donde dejes tu cartera y valores me bañe prácticamente con la cartera al lado ,al salir del hostal no había nadie en recepción, creo que si entramos huéspedes deberían destinar un porcentaje a hacer mejoras y realmente que sea un hostal agradable

Nos asignaron una habitación que no habíamos pagado, mucho peor de lo que imaginamos, la App dice que incluye desayuno y es mentira. No regresaremos.

el trato personal te hacen sentir como en casa...

Lo que no me gustó es que había otras personas alojadas ( o habitantes) que hacían demasiado ruido a las 2 am en la cocina o a las 5 am en el patio compartido por todos. Los colchones ya tienen demasiado uso y no se descansó mucho.

Muy buena ubicación en el centro histórico, y accesibilidad al transporte público, muy buena atención por parte de los propietarios, habitación cómoda y amplia para una pareja..! Solo faltaría un aire acondicionado, tiene abanicos pero algo más fresco sería ideal..!

Sehr freundlich, praktisch und angenehm

Es hat mir schon bei einer früheren Reise hier sehr gut gefallen. Nach dieser angenehmen Erfahrung habe ich hier wieder gebucht. Für mich sehr praktisch, da alle Ziele fußläufig gut erreichbar sind.

Mi experiencia en Guadalajara fue maravillosa y muy importante fue la hospitalidad y la seguridad que nos ofreció la señora Lucy, las instalaciones, la habitación y la atención es excelente, la ubicación es perfecta pues tiene muchos lugares de interés en los alrededores, vivan la experiencia de conocer Guadalajara y disfruten la estancia en hostal Olga Querida no se van arrepentir.

La atención y resolución de la srita. Lucy son notables. Muy amable y atenta. El espacio es básico, acorde con el costo. Limpio, con algunos detalles de conservación no importantes.

Lucy te hace sentir en casa, es muy atenta, servicial y muy amable. Si es tu primera vez en Guadalajara, te apoya con información turística y de transporte, te hace sentir seguro y en confianza. Las instalaciones tienen todo lo necesario , la gente que va al hostal suele ser tranquila, la calle no es ruidosa, una vez que haces check in puedes entrar y salir a la hora que quieras. El desayuno siempre está dentro del horario establecido, si quieres preparar algo de comer tienes cocina completa para hacerlo, solo necesitas comprar los ingredientes y lavar lo que uses. Está ubicado cerca de la catedral, museo cabañas, etc, hay estaciones de transporte publico cercanas. En general excelente servicio, con gusto volvería a reservar.
