aircon not working
air con not working, 26 degrees in the room - got ill and had to check out early and move to a different hotel. Got a refund for the nights we did not use but it was a major hassle.
Beautiful art deco building and great location
The hotel is a beautiful art deco building and in a great location.
Nice location and short walk to Wai Tan, reasonable price,
Awesome
Awesome location. 5 min walk to Shanghai bund with many eateries around the area. The room is big and spacious. Bed is comfortable and the room decor is modern.
Like the location, convenience to the bund andshopping, comfortable room, and the size of the room. The breakfast is good. The property is a bit old. Furniture, bathroom, carpet, and the elevators are looking old but functional.
The dining area had lots of mould on the ceiling and the carpets in dining area and landing areas was very dirty.
Nice stay
Nice hotel to stay. Close to the main shopping street and metro. Breakfast was fine. Staff was nice.
Location Location location. Sellers on the street too pushy, they follow you back to the front of your hotel.
Centrally located in the Bund
Great location for a good price
Wonderful location. An older hotel that has all the comforts. The restaurant however was not clean. The staff uniforms were stained and the feature displays so dusty you could write messages on them. So we didn’t go back there. But the hotel itself I would highly recommend
Great location. Nice room. Maybe a brief history of the hotel make the stay more interesting
Excellent location, close to the Bund, Nanjing East Pedestrian Mall and underground train. Good jazz bar around the corner.
Nice start to our China trip
Great location, luxurious rooms and very friendly & extremely helpful staff. Couldn't have been better.
Best value for your dollars! Rated as a 3 star hotel, but I’d say it’s closer to a 4.5. Great location and walking distance to Nanjing Rd. (However you spell it). Lots of nearby restaurants and close to the Bund.
We did not make it to the hotel due to the typhoon 🙁
Good location, well situated between East Nanjing Road metro station and the Bund. Nice large room with safe, fridge, slippers and Japanese style smart toilet! Only complaint was that the shower head would not stay in place as it was too heavy for the hook.
Not to return
Location is terrible. Nether taxi's nor Didi can find the location. Gym is in a dungeon with pathetic equipment. Staff was but up to par
All was as I expected and some even more. Very good buffet breakfast but very poor restaurant for dinner. Good location and good security. anybody who is not guest of the hotel cannot use the elevator and everyone can get only to the floor of his room.
Beautiful room. Gym consists of a few treadmills and an ellipitical in a dark room in the basement which used to be a hotel bar.
It is a very good place to stay and there are many good restaurants nearby.
Disappointing
Cancelled one night and booked two extra nights, but didn't receive a refund for the cancelled night. Will not use this accommodation again
Excellent !
Excellent Art Deco hotel walking distance to the bund, an excellent hotel!
The building is of architectural merit. Location is very convenient and easy to locate as it is on the Circle.
Beautifully decorated. Clean. Delightful hotel. Really cosy rooms.
We couldn’t see night view from the room. Others were okay.
The housekeeper ring the bell on every morning even I turn on the “Do not disturb”Botton already.
Wonderful hotel in perfect location
Very nice hotel in the perfect location
Good location
Nice area with most of the place walkable, the staffs are also very helpful. My check in was not smooth with mistakes but in general I'm fine with the service. The toilet however was funny, the seat heater was malfunctioning so that every time when I enter the room the water started to leak out
Highly recommended hotel option
Metropolo Classiq Shanghai Bund Circle was great, perfect for our tourist needs. We got a room that also had a sitting room (a slight upgrade from the standard room), which gave us space to relax in after touring the nearby sites. The location of the hotel is great, just a few blocks from the Bund, quick access to the metro, and for those who like walking, good access to many of the tourist sites and neighborhoods listed in the guide books. The staff, from front desk, to cleaning staff, to those manning the door, and management, were kind without exception. The front desk staff are more than willing to help and answer questions, but the amount of English spoken varies by person (and I don't speak Mandarin). I'd recommend staying at the Metropolo Classiq Shanghai Bund Circle for either work or touring. A very nice experience, with great room amenities - bathroom was terrific with a soaking tub and separate shower featuring rainfall shower head, which felt luxurious each morning, bed was comfy, hot water and tea was available, a Keurig-like coffee set up.
Very near the bund!
Great location, beautiful hotel, stayed there 9 years ago, has been remodeled. A/C was not on, so warm in the room. Good breakfast buffet. Staff was helpful
Great room
Location is quite close to the Bund, and nearby foods.. cleanliness is good.. stayed for one night and got a free upgrade.. overall experience is good..
Not your large hotel chain but a unique small hotel with details and quality and one of the best breakfasts in Shanghai. Located steps from the Bund and Nanjing road. I'll come back again. Room 903 was incredible with a living room, bedroom and large bathroom.
GREAT STAY!!
WONDERFUL PLACE. VERY CENTRAL TO EVERYTHING. LOTS OF EATING PLACES WITH WALKING DISTANCE.
We stayed at the metropolis classiq on two occasions when touring China. Each time we enjoyed a room with one bedroom, a sitting room and an enormous bathroom. The staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful, the room was wonderful (the hotel's art deco renovation was first class) and it was only a minute or two walk to the Bund, just 10 minutes to the pedestrian precinct of East Nanjing Road and maybe 15 minutes to the Yuyuan Gardens and old town. Would highly recommend it.
Beautiful hotel great location amazing view. Would stay again in future!
Hotel is housed in a heritage building. Very close to Bund and Nanjing E Road for shopping, Bars, Food and sightseeing. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
Top notch service and you can't beat the location. The room was spacious, clean, and modern. I highly recommend this hotel.
reasonalbe price and good hotel
Butique hotel and nice. nice location. nice room. very default hotel and default price. nothing special then I expected. good hotel (maybe it can be improved ?!)
Nice Hotel - Good Location
Good location next to a Metro station with easy access to train station and city center. Great price for a pleasant, clean room. The included breakfast had a good selection and was very good. Only negative is that the room had very thin walls. Could hear people in adjacent room.
Classy art deco hotel
We stayed in a Classiq Double room and had a fabulous view of the Bund from one of the windows. Both the room and the hotel were superbly decorated in art deco style and were very comfortable. The location worked very well being close to the Bund and to Nanjing Rd. Note on google maps it is the Metropole hotel as against the Metropolo hotel (check that you have the right address). The breakfast was great and dinner was also good. The staff were helpful and included good English speakers.
Very comfortable hotel. Close to rail services and shopping. Staff were friendly. Easy check in. Would definitely stay again
Well located hotel in Shanghai.
Hotel is well located close to Nanjing road east station and walking distance to the Bund. Good condition, spacious and comfortable room, convenient restaurant downstairs. We spent 3 nights there and were happy with the room and hotel. Staff could be slightly more friendly and professional but overall no problem.
Great location, close to the Bund in an art deco style building
Very friendly helpful staff, lovely decoration!
I stayed here for 3 days for a biz trip. Its a bit different from normal traditional hotels, it has a few stairs outside the hotel and it looks really modern and lovely in the lobby as well as in the room. I had a huuuuge bathroom which I absolutely loved! Huge living room and really nice bedroom. I would definitely stay there again. The staff in the morning helped me getting taxi using their own phone and always ready to help and very friendly! A massive thumb up!
Stay at Metropole
Location was perfect , very near to famous Shanghai Bund Area , breakfast was good , overall i recommend this Hotel .
Wonderful visit
The staff at this hotel could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The room was amazing and we truly enjoyed our time there. When we visit Shanghai again, we will definitely stay here.
Nice classic hotel
The location is about 8-10 min walk from Nanjing Road East metro station. The area is pretty quiet in the evenings even though it's just a 5-minute stroll to the Bund. I was upgraded into a bigger room overlooking the inner court (of aircon compressors). The room was nice and comfortable. However, the shower was clogged up with other guests' hair! Got the chambermaid to clear it.
Good Bund access
The room was huge and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was spacious with lots of marble and a heated toilet seat. Location was great with a 2 block walk to the Bund, and a short walk to the main shopping mall. Breakfast was available, but we did not have it, as it was quite expensive as was the draft beer. The staff was quite helpful, but had a hard time with the english language. Our main disappointment was that we had seen pictures of the view from the top, and were looking forward to seeing it. However, we were told that it was only available to guests with suites. We thought this was quite misleading.
Excellent hotel
This is an excellent hotel, older than the much larger and more expensive places in Shanghai. The room was very nice in all respects, and for the $111/night we paid, a genuine bargain. Meals were excellent, but a limited menu; breakfasts were fine. The hotel would have been rated excellent in several categories, except for two problems: the air conditioning was either out of order or not turned on throughout the hotel, at a time of an early Shanghai heatwave. The second was language, see below.
Excellent hotel if you can find it
Excellent hotel, if you find it in the maps, we use google maps and it will bring you to a different metropolo hotel. So we had a hard time finding it. In google maps it is written as metropolE hotel NOT metropolO.
Good location
Handy location. WiFi is slow to non-existent and does not work although rarely does it anywhere in China.
Clean, spacious and convenient
Thanks to Mr Yang who had served us well with the check-in and assisted us to make the calls to reserve the dining. It would be perfect if the hotel could allow us to run the air conditioner when the temperature has gone up.
Fabulous location
Some of the staff seemed to lack training, but concierge was great. I was sick, and he found me an excellent doctor. Facilities were once top notch, but are starting to look a bit shabby. Fabulous location, good restaurant. Wifi was spotty.
Water pressure is extremely low!
Condition of the hotel is nice, but forget it if you wanna take a nice shower after a long day! Water is simply dripping fro the shower and temperature of water is not stable as well.
Highly recommended
Comfortable, good location, friendly staff
Great location and a very nice room. I marked it down for comfort and condition because the air conditioning was very poor, it would not go below 23 degrees. The service at breakfast was slow, we had to ask for coffee rather than being offered it.
Great location and period atmosphere
Beautifully appointed room but the shower head clearly has not been held in place by the fitting for a long time so has you need to hold it yourself. Extras (laundry, dining) expensive by local standards and the food indifferent. Eat out, there's plenty of choice. Staff are very helpful in booking tables elsewhere, giving advice etc. Excellent location for visiting the main historic sites, and easy access to both main airports. We would definitely stay again.
Nice Art Deco. Hotel
Great location. Recently renovated. Comfortable bed. Good value for the money.
This is a great hotel which is good value
This hotel is conveniently located beR the bund with fantastic Art Deco furnishings. I would recommend this to travellers who want a quality hotel that wong break the bank. Whilst you probably won't get a view you will get top quality Art Deco furnishings, helpful staff and a great breakfast.
Nicer than expected!
The hotel and room was much nicer than expected and the location is pretty good....close to the shopping street and the river.
An Oasis in a big city
This hotel was difficult to find. It sneaks up on you before you know it. Once you get out of the taxi, the doorman helps with your luggage and takes you to the registration counter. The pleasant clerks are eager to help you. If they don't speak your language, they will try to find a coworker who does. The rooms are out of this world. These are the most comfortably arranged rooms ever. Even more comfortable than my own home. Our room had a bedroom with adjoining bath, a living room with sofas, TV, and desk with an adjoining wash room. Both toilets were equipped with bidets. The buffet breakfast had a variety of selections that included western as well as Chinese dishes. The staff was exceptionally helpful and attentive. When we asked the doorman for a taxi he ran down the street and around the corner. Then next thing we knew, he came back riding in a cab. The area was close enough to the Bund to walk there and enjoy the shops along the way. I can't say enough about how happy my wife and I were that we selected this hotel. The reviews are absolutely right. It is a gem.
Amazing hotel. super recommended
clean, huge rooms for the price and very nice staff. don't give full 5/5 because of the restaurant area. both breakfast and coffee lounge needs a big review. the rest of the hotel was amazing
Great Break in Shanghai
Super efficient book in and very helpful staff. Old style hospitality at its best. Great location for an evening stroll to the Bund. Would recommend this hotel.
Excellent boutique Asian hotel
Room bathroom lobby - all excellently finished in 'art decor' style in keeping with renovated 1930s building. Comfortable, luxuriously finished. Excellent air conditioning! Staff courteous and happiest was the security guard/ door man with a ready smile everyday. Had a fantastic 4 nights there with breakfast with Asian n European type food. Would stay there again.
Winter @ Jinjiang Metropolo Hotel Classiq,
The room is clean but rather clamp. The air-conditioning is blowing directly to the bed and making it like winter.
Great location, good staff and rooms are big
Lovely art deco themed room of a good size. I liked the coffee machine (the milk was fairly ordinary but the coffee was nice enough to drink black which is not normally the case in my experience of Chinese hotels) and the breakfast was pretty good.
Excellent
We were upgraded to a better suite with a big balcony and river view. We are very satisfied with the stay.
Lovely hotel, great location
Very nice hotel in a great location. Walking distance from the Bund and Huangpu waterfront. Bifg room with great amenities
Highly Recommended
Wasn't entirely sure what this hotel experience would be like with only one day in Shanghai and a last minute booking. I could not have been happier from the moment I entered the Lobby to the cleanliness and class of my room. The staff were extremely helpful and overall a superb stay
beautiful... great location - a landmark!
Great renovation job. While from the outside it still perfectly blends in with the neighboring buildings the inside has been perfectly redone. Just beautiful the way little Art Deco details have been preserved... Only 2 blocks away from the hustle of Nanjing East Road and in a quiet location. While the front of the building faces away from the Bund you can still get nice views from the back of building to the Shanghai Tower..
Clean & modern with attentive staff. Nice bar and restaurant in the lobby. Short walk to Nanjing Road, people's square, and the Bund.
Convenient ,clean , great value
Stayed here and could not be happier with our room , service and location . Most important bed comfort and location . It was very mild weather in Shanghai so room was a bit hot , , AC does not work in the cooler months so had to open a window . Minimal issue when you consider Room size , location and a big (extremely comfortable) bed . Hotel is an old hotel that seems to have been recently renovated and has a great gatsby themed decor - literally 3 mins walk to bund river ,walking distance to Nanjing road and had small shops just outside within 1 minute walk to get small supplies . Great value for your $ Can walk to rest on the bund for a nice meal , take in the view. Very convenient .
Convenient and clean hotel
Nice and clean, great modern decorations. It is extremely safe and is in a great location for tourism.
Newly renovated hotel, value for money
Big and clean rooms, newly renovated, helpful service staff, located very near to the Bund.
Convenient and few minutes walk from attractions
Large room including a secondary room for TV watching and another sofa
Great stylish art deco hotel
Great art deco hotel walking distance from the Bund
Stay was just fine. The bar and ambience in the bar and restaurant could be better.
Really an awesome experience to stay in this hotel as is near the bund and public metro. The room is extreme tidy, especially the washroom. The staff was also very polite and helpful and help me to hail taxi to airport. Approximately taxi fee is 160 to 180 rmb to Shanghai Pudong Airport( 1hour duration) .
Great hotel and good value for money given the location. A 5 minute walk to the main strip at the Bund
great hotel for business or holiday travel!
I was originally booked into a hotel much further outside of Shanghai, so I was really happy to find the JinJiang had availability for my last two days in Shanghai! It was super convenient to the subway, which could then get you anywhere you wanted to go. Dinner options in the hotel were pretty limited, which is only an issue since I had a super long work day and was too tired to go out, but otherwise the hotel was great, and I would definitely stay there again
Nice boutique hotel
Short stay for Busines, staff very helpful
Hard and soft aspects of the hotel
This is a old hotel building that is being taken over and renovated. As such, some taxi drivers still are not sure of how to get there if you do not have the mandarin name. The exterior looks colonial and hot but the room is modern and spacious. Especially love the toilet seat warmer and the toilet seat has a nightlight that made it easier to visit the loo at night. Downsides: Thermostat switched off the air-con when it gets too cold and turns itself on when it gets warm as such it tends to get a bit stuffy during the process. I was expecting a full room service menu but there are not any with only 4 set meals without any descriptions The safety deposit box in the room is not bolted and can be easily carried out
Loved this hotel.
Hotel offered upgraded to suite room, which is appreciated
We had booked a room for 3 on Expedia but when we checked in the lady at the reception said that this room has only a small double bed for 2 people and so we should use another room that have beds for 3 people. I had requested for an additional bed via Expedia earlier on but this hotel never responded. It was late in the evening and we were way to tired to look for another hotel so we agreed to follow the suggestion, paying additional $100. It was not a good start of the trip for us.
Habitacion demasiado oscura. Desayuno limitado.
bom
Bom. Água mineral diaponivel a vontade.
