I loved the theme of the room! The room was very clean too.
I liked the location a lot. On Saturday and Sunday nights you can park on the street behind the university lots and not pay for parking. It is $15 per night to park in the university lots.
the decoration of the truly magnificent 1930 type room. We have no regrets.
The room was amazingly spacious and the beds were so comfortable. Be aware that if you need parking it is $15 a night. That would have been good to know beforehand.
Bad service and not comfortable stay
Really bad customer service. Not happy
Excellent customer service. Extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful upon check-in.
Will come again!
Was my fourth time back and it was great as always!
Hidden Gem
Great experience beautiful view of the city at night
Very friendly. Good location downtown at an affordable price
Not a hotel at all!
No tv no phone no coffee pot Cement floor in room Way to hot in the room
Nice clean place with basic room amenities. Great location! However, no AC. There are fans, but the room does get warm in the summertime.
Really close to the Oilers & Rogers Place and lots of other stores, pubs and cafe’s within walking distance.
Great for student families! Was perfect when moving my daughter in so she can begin her new journey as a college student!
Nothing is included even the parking you have to pay an extra
this property is in a great location in Edmonton for those who are familiar with Edmonton's transit system. However; it is also within walking distance of many of the cities major attractions including the river valley.
Well located and clean
Its well located if you need to be downtown and if all you want is a place to sleep. It also has a small kitchen. There is no TV or air conditioning, but they do provide a small fan.
I liked the location. The rooms were serviced every 3 days is a great idea for one or two night visit.
We didnt like the beds they were very hard and pillows too
The front desk staff are very friendly. But room is not clean.
Had a serene atmosphere. The staff were also courteous and friendly. Access to the room was also quite easy
The staff is fabulous you have to remember that you’re staying in a dorm. Our room was unbearably hot while others one door up were more comfortable. The mattresses are encased in plastic, the sheets and blankets are Ill-fitting and rough. The floors are concrete, the showers are tiny, the towels are rough and quite small. If you go expecting to be staying in a dorm and knowing what that entails, it’s fine. If you’re expecting to be comfortable and cares for like in a hotel, pay the higher rate and stay on the first floor in the hotel rooms. The price was great if you’re on a budget and, again, the staff is fabulous. Did I sleep well? No.:
Basic but close to everything
It was close to main attractions but very basic for the price.
Hotel was clean, staff were fabulous. The area is extremely convenient for us while attending the dance festival.
Great location. Convenience of staying on campus while our son attends classes here is amazing. Dorm room style rooms, clean and excellent value for money!
Conference in Edmonton
Floor of room needs at least a linoleum flooring, it was bare polished concrete and a part of the wall is rough/unfinished.
welcomed very warmly with pleasant smile.I was able to get an early check-in which was great.
It was located close to places we were going , Rogers Place , and the price was amazing
Quiet. Good size bedrooms. Shower was too small (with curtain). Didn’t like cement floors
Way over priced for so few amenities. No coffee maker, no hair dryer, etc. I won't stay there again.
The room and bed and bathroom were fine, the price more than expect- ed, and the hassles with the $15 parking to unload (too little space), slipping on the filthy hundreds of meters distant parkade floor, electronic keys that intermittently, a pool a block away that was mostly unavailable and that they did not have a schedule for makes it unlikely we'll stay there again.
The room was perfectly clean. Residence was conveniently located close to an LRT station- easy to go to all the major destinations. Access to an excellent gym and pool.
Convenient and Clean (Thumbs UP)
My husband and I stayed because we were going to Cirque performance at Rogers- the location of the hotel was so close to Rogers and everything we could possible need was within walking distance. We took advantage of the parking available and we never moved our vehicle again until check out. We booked a King size bed and the room was tastefully decorated, the bed was comfortable and the amenities in the room were more than adequate. The room itself did not have a microwave but there was one available at the end of the hall which was a nice convenience. I will definitely stay here again.
Close to downtown. Good rate. Close to Rogers and restaurants. Easy access and parking.
Huge problems with the staff being rude and unhelpful. No heating in the rooms. Very loud, including construction happening at midnight on weekdays. Would not stay there again.
Great location, beautiful room!
No internet no TV, this place is below motel more like hostel. It should be listed under hostel.
Hidden Gem
It's a dorm room. Full kitchen, decent beds. Stand up shower bathroom. The security in the building is really good and safe parking area. The area is great and the location is perfect for anyone coming from out of town to see hockey or enjoy the night life. The rates are very good for what you get.
Pros: - in a very convinient location; within walking distance of Rogers Arena, Women Building Futures, and public transit to take you anywhere else. - affordable - quiet (at least during my stay) - room had a Keurig machine Cons: - bed was a bit too hard - no hair dryer in bathrooms - hot water heater made some irritating noises at night. All in all, you're getting what you pay for, and the pros overshadow the cons for me. I'd stay here again.
$15.00 a day for parking after paying $150.00 a day for two beds, a bathroom and a kitchenette seems greedy.
Reasonably priced accommodation close to Rogers Place.
Nice hotel room. Very clean and safe environment. The hotel room had a fridge, coffee maker, iron, full tub, TV, hair dryer and access to a microwave and laundry facilities. The lobby is nicely decorated and modern. The building is conveniently located close to several restaurants and a grocery store. There is no air conditioning, but there are fans in each room.
This is just a dorm room. Didn’t realized until after booking and it being noncancellable that there was no tv, no coffeemaker, no glasses or cutlery. There is a kitchen with fridge and stove, but you have to pay extra for any supplies! Room was very hot, and no air conditioning. Cost was the same as a hotel room, so go to a hotel instead!
Very convenient location, staff very helpful and friendly.
Basic accommodation
Good location. No air conditioning, rooms are a concrete box. Very uncomfortable bed.
Room is only for student not for place to rest..no air conditioning, no blanket..
Nice place to be. Close to a lot of things!
Its a bit pricey for what you are getting
Good location to where we needed to be.
Whoever staged and took the photos of this place did an excellent job in the marketing department because the room is not quite as welcoming at the photos appear. In reality the floors are bare cement, the Mattess is plastic.. (yes, I wrote plastic) and the bedding looks like something out of the way back of grandmas linen closet that she was happy to get rid of. We stayed for one quick night... and I was happy when my alarm went off at 7 am and it was time for me to get up and get out. Overall it was “okay”, it seemed clean. I spent the night thinking of how I would decorate this place if I was living there because there just isn’t anything appealing about how it is right now. I think I was mostly surprised at cost.. I could have stayed at a hotel a few streets down for nearly the same cost, but I would have had coffee in the morning, A regular sized , normal bed and a tv... Overall. I won’t stay there again.
Good location.
Great place to stay for a few days. Only problem we found was the room was very warm even with ends open and fan on.
Great location downtown. Room was very warm (no a/c that I could find) so had to keep the windows open which was bright. The bedding was clean but had an awful synthetic plastic layer which was ripped off the bed in the night. The kitchen is good although you need to rent cutlery for an additional cost. Overall, good location but no frills.
Clinic visit
Residence is a good place to stay. Room was comfortable except for no a/c. Area around residence is very nice. Could definitely stay there again.
Resident life has changed
I have not stayed in a university residence for some time. McEwan residence far exceeded my expectations with all its amenities. A bargain all round
Everything was good. The beds are a bit hard to sleep on so we had to bring extra blankets but everything else was great.
Great staffs and friendly. Great location with lots of facilities nearby
Great location!
Great, perfect location for us as we were on foot. We liked having our own bedrooms. Not fancy but very serviceable.
not a hotel
It's a concrete room with nothing in it just a small bed with a cheap foam mattress Not a hotel room but a dorm room
ITS residence
Close to the location we needed, but first room The shower didn’t drain (and subsequently water went all over the floor) and the second room our toilet didn’t fill up with water so we had to manually fill it up every time we wanted to flush the toilet
Front door always locked, place run by a bunch of dumb kids, I could not get in to check in until another guest let me in, went to the front desk and asked about it, they said security was their first concern, I asked how are people supposed to check in if doors are locked, she said the desk staff are supposed to let people in, she said she saw me but didn't open the door because she did not know why I was there, dumbest system ever. And there are no TV's in room. Once you pay for parking the place costs the same as other near by hotels.
Wasn’t bad. Wasn’t good.
Check in was slow and a bit disorganized. Room was as expected.. but the check in lady was kind of slow during the process. But overall, it’s as you’d expect and we’re happy to have found a two room sweet.
very convenient if having business at macewan univ
bed is comfortable, staff very friendly. nice having 2 separate bedrooms. renting kitchen kit helped save on eating costs. convenient location to the university as well as other activities downtown
It is very comfortable to stay for a long time.
Love it when it is near by my place where I had my exam. Around this area, there are some coffee shops and restaurants which take me two mins to get there.
Concert Goers, Mac Uni as a low cost alternative
Definitely a good deal, close to Rogers Place, Liquor Store, and Banks. All within a ten minute walk (although in opposite directions, not a big deal). A low cost alternative to a hotel, we could hear people talking and walking through the dorm hallway during the day and were concerned about the noise but no noise was made the Saturday we were there. Will definitely stay here again if coming back to Edmonton for any shows.
Awful
We were given the run around from check in to check out. Says you don't need the credit card at check in, not so. The heater was stuck on and couldn't be adjusted and the bed was rock hard. not a good experience at all.
Unnice stay
Parking in another building. Swimming 1 block away.
Can't Beat the Location & Price
Great for after a concert, or hockey game, or any 1 or 2 night stay downtown. Walking distance to Rogers Place, Jasper Ave & Oliver Square. Would recommend it to anyone. You also cant beat the price for Downtown area, check in is super easy and parking is $13/day in a safe parkade. We will definitely stay here again!
good area for the surrounding vicinity
not too bad...easy access to a lot of places I want to go downtown even by just walking. Car is safe in a parking area.
Good value
Yea the beds weren't ideal but great place for one night stay for commonwealth or Roger's concert.
Good location
Its a pretty basic dorm style room, what you should expect when you book here. If you want luxury then go somewhere else or book an actual hotel. With that being said it is a great location close to lots of places. Parking is secure in a lot with an access card. You also need an access card to get to the room. The room is basic. Bathroom with shower. There is a kitchen as well with a full fridge. The bedroom has a basic bed with a desk and couple chairs. Although some complain the bed is too hard I like a firmer mattress so I slept really well. Usually the ultra soft hotel mattresses hurt my neck.
The Bed was as Uncomfortable as Promised.
Awesome location, no fuss check in and check out, room was basic but had all the essentials. The negatives were an astonishingly uncomfortable bed and the lack of temperature control - super toasty! University kids were also a little loud - not a problem for me but I assume others would be peeved. I'd still stay here again - cheap and central are the most important factors in my books.
Hotel close to MacEwan University
It was very clean, but had no amenities at all. You would need to bring a device in order to watch tv. The bed was uncomfortable and the bathroom only offered small, threadbare towels for use. The shower was small but nice. As a whole, the staff were not very friendly. You got the feeling they didn't like the hotel part of the residence.
They are not even trying...
A few small details could make this a viable on-campus place to stay when working with the university - however, in its current state it is simply not worth the suffering. The convenience factor does not outweigh the extremely uncomfortable bed, poorly maintained room, unbearably hot temperature and general poor management. I will be staying elsewhere for my next trip. This facility really is an embarrassment for the university.
Lots of potential but extremely hard mattress
I had big hopes on staying here. The hotel is located by a lot of shops and restaurants. It is still close enough to the downtown core that you can walk. The cost of the room was low compared to other downtown hotels. The room I stayed in had a kitchen with a fridge, microwave and two burners. Bathroom had a shower, not a tub but that was not an issue. There is no air conditioning, but you can easily open two windows and use a fan which came with the room. There is no carpeting so you are on polished concrete floor. The room is small, but you do get a table with chairs and a computer desk. The bed though was a major issue. On the first night, I barely could sleep. I kept tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position but I could not find one. After having a busy day, when I got in, I asked about the bed being really hard. I was told that the bed was missing a foam topper. They said that they did not have access to them but would give me a couple quilt toppers that I could add to the mattress to make it softer. Sadly, it barely did anything. When I brought up the issue with staff during check out, they said there are no foam toppers going on the mattresses. That the mattresses are being swapped out in August for more comfortable ones. Seeing that I was mislead about the foam toppers, I don't know if I would believe that the mattresses will be swapped out in August. I was planning to stay here every time I was in Edmonton, but now I will check out something else.
Worst beds ever
I slept on the floor at one point of the night hoping it would b more comfortable than the beds. It was a close toss up.

Rooms were comfortable and staff were accommodating.
