It’s our fourth time to stay there. We love this place
My friends and I were there for 5 days. We had a great time there. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff were very nice. We felt welcomed despite the WiFi service. We were not able to get the network inside our rooms.
Nice beach. Quiet
Property nice
The resort was a short drive from Cancun airport. The staff were all very helpful. Property was clean and well kept. It is joined with its sister resort, Royal Solaris, so we had the use of their facilities as well. We preferred to stay on the GR side though as it is a smaller and quieter resort. We had great meals at the A la Cartes and the breakfast buffet in the Solaris Cafe was excellent. This resort is at the beginning of the hotel strip so you would need to take the bus to get to the shops. Just a few cons for us: - Although the beach was nice and there were lots of chairs, we weren’t able to swim much as red flags were posted all week. We had a couple of days where one small section had a yellow flag. Hopefully it was just a fluke of the weather that week. - Our room was on the 4th floor. We had to climb many stairs to get to it. There were a lot of stairs all over the resort to get to different places. - The air conditioner was quite loud. Our room had a bit of a smell to it. - The resort was a bit outdated. We would have liked to have a balcony off our room. - The lobby bar was small so not really anywhere to go for a drink in the evening. No beach bar either. So had many stairs to climb to go for water, etc.
I’m from NYC and I’ve been here three times now, I just love the design, the food, and EVERYTHING they offer. it’s the best hotel for me so far, and I’ll always stay here whenever I go to Cancun.
Extremely helpful, friendly staff. Grounds were clean and beautiful. Room was clean and spacious. Food was good and plenty of options.
It is a great place and we have been going here for years. We enjoy every area and now it has been refreshed, it has been great. The captain Darwin is so helpful and kind. Riky at Marco Polo is the best. Samanta was so helpful at check in. This place is our favorite but maybe they could the menu once a week or so!
I have stayed at this property a few times before, and it has never disappointed. The staff is great and it is very family and kid friendly. The food is good, nothing to rave for, however I do have to let You know the drinks at pool, seriously need to improve. We asked for drinks and most of them tasted like mescal, I know a piña colada , banana daiquiri or Bloody Mary do not contain mescal, mind you I didn’t ask if that’s what was added but that’s what they tasted like. I didn’t ask for anything else after that so wasn’t sure if it was just the pool’s bar to be honest .
Absolutely love this resort! Food and drinks are great. Wish they didn’t allow people to leave towels on chairs all day. Need more chairs or someone making sure people actually use their saved chairs. Over all great resort.
A few very smelly days, sewer gas.
construction noise constantly even after moving rooms! No outdoor bar to sit at. Nothing near the property. Generally old and somewhat rundown.
Nice and close to the beach
Exactly what we are looking forward these two days with my family and waiting for TOP concert )
This was our second stay at the property. I don't know if Expedia VIP access was a part of the. reason, but our room was outstanding -- very close to the beach with an ocean view. We love the great breakfasts that they serve every morning. We love lying on chaises next to the beach with waiters bringing us drinks. Be sure to make reservations for dinners at the restaurants -- the buffet meals at the Solaris next door aren't nearly as good. This property tends to have an older crowd with fewer children than the one next door -- perfect for those who enjoy quiet R&R. Loved our stay.
Terrible food. Everything here was ‘members only’. Not worth going unless you are a ‘member’. Half of the resort is undergoing Renos/repairs so it feels like a construction site.
Just would like to say they need to be better making better drinks .
Everything was excellent Quite when we want and party when you feel like doing so. Minutes to the strip to turn it up a notch Great stop
Best option for value for money, all -inclusive vacation with children. We very much liked the food, our 9-month daughter could easily eat from what was served. Very clean rooms, polite staff. Many things to do and options to sit at the beach or near the pool. The only things that they would improve is to have more umbrellas at the beach dor the sun.
Staff were super nice and helpful, Quality of food and drinks were not good.
Horrible experiencia pasamos.
Great stay
This resort was decent but I chose it because it was vIP access but I didn’t receive anything at all.
My family and I had a great time staying here. The food was great and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The beaches and pools were just amazing. Shoutout to Gabby, Marcia and Maria for making our trip even that much more special. We were travelling with a toddler and the swimming pool for kids was fantastic. Really great resort for families and parents with kids. Lots of entertainment options to keep everyone busy. If you get a chance you must try swimming with the dolphins. Such a memorable experience.
This is the sister resort to Royal Solaris. Not much to offer for families pertaining to room accommodation. On-going construction with a constant damp odor on the ground rooms. Definitely not a 4 or 5 star resort, but the use of the connecting resort helps to ease your stay. The staff was great but the reps were a bit annoying with their constant questions on when did you arrive to schedule you for their pitch for timeshares meeting.
The only negative thing would be there’s not a lot to do if the weather is bad. The shows at night are basically all the same.
Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of excellent. The entire property was spotless, and there was always a pleasant, fresh scent throughout. We especially loved our swim-up pool oceanfront room—it was such a luxurious and relaxing experience! The kids had an absolute blast at the water park, which was a highlight of our trip. What truly stood out, however, was the incredible staff. They went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcome and taken care of at all times. We couldn’t have asked for a better family getaway, and we’re already looking forward to coming back!
The staff was incredible. The food was delicious. We will definitely go back.
We love that it was a quiet hotel. The pool area is clean (but very cold water) and the volume of the music was so decent. Snacks and bar is decent too. We had issues with A/C, maintenance arrive quick, but unfortunately the issue wasn't resolved. The rooms are very clean but the mattresses were a little hard and uncomfortable. Fits one person each (when two beds in a room). The beach was clean and nice, but there is no food/bar service near by.
Tasteless foods, waste of money. We spent $3k for a lagoon view room.
It’s was supposed to be all inclusive and food was horrible and out of 4 days only ate there once. Nothing to do closes by and over all service info was not there
good
Staff were nice tried their best , but the room I book was ocean view ended up to pool view . All the time music ,talking voices , children noise . I requested another rooms , it was provided for one night because the toilet was not draining we had to change back to the first new . I paid too much for pool view with lots of noise . Don’t recommend it fir people who really want a vacation .
Poor check in and check out process..front staff terrible
Very poor experience
It’s was the WORSE travel ever. Very poor food bad bad drinks. Over all- never ever again to this hotel or others all including
The property is in the midst of an upgrade so some construction was ongoing but service and people were great
The food was horrible
We originally booked this trip for GR Caribe Deluxe, expedia reached out and told us they had to cancel the request due to construction. They gave us 2 options to switch to and we picked GR Solaris. When we arrived at GR Solaris they told us we didn’t have a reservation and we struggled to get a room even though we already had a reservation. They also didn’t give us an ocean view room which we had already selected for. Was just disappointed with the reservation.
Have been visiting the GR Caribe Deluxe and Royal Solaris for year now and this year was disappointing. This review is for Royal Solaris were we stayed for 7 days. (We booked for GR Deluxe and on our arrival we were told it was not open and got sent to Royal Solaris): Food was basic and almost the same food every single day morning, day and night.... they use to have different foods every days according to the shows or something like that. The buffet had steames squash and baked tomates and jusy cooked potatoes almost every time.... quality has gone down. Rooms...it was wierd to have hotel personale visit your rooms in the evenings and go into them without notice. We are suspicious of them doing something not right...but have no way to prove it. A/C thermostat was not working, it won't turn off automatically. Notified front desk, sent a maintenance person but never fixed anything. Notifed front desk again and they told me it should never turn off....not true... i had to wake up in the middle of the night to turn it off...not what you expect when you go on vacation. Personnel was good, but administration is going cheap on food and quality....will look for another resort later on.
The resort has been closed for weeks yet still booking. We did not find out till our transportation was turned away at the entrance gate. We were sent to another property next door. They had us bused to yet another property 4 places down. The app always show reservations full and I had to complain to manager to get reservations. Limited staff working. We have been to the Caribe 6-7 times. We will not be back due to the way Solaris handled this. Spend a little more and chose another brand.
AMAZING RESORT, BEACH, & LOCATION!
I enjoyed my vacations
Stayed a week & a half, and this wasn't all bad, but by far the worst of 4 Mexico all-inclusives we've had. We had to transfer hotels on the property twice, once due to renovations/lack of an advertised children's bed, and again due to broken AC in the building for 2 days. We asked many times about the status of the fixes and got misleading information. When we got moved, our restaurant reservation was unceremoniously cancelled, with no resolution. The property is the site of a large time share "vacation club" scam, and we could not escape the pressure to attend their "presentation" despite multiple refusals - we got phone calls daily to twice daily, starting the first morning, concierges sitting at the elevators stopping us, etc. When we did attend the misrepresented presentation, they took us to a dedicated time share office with over a dozen salespeople, sucked up 3 hours of our time, and showed little regard for our health and young kids. Additionally, some smaller issues: we did not get the type of bed we ordered during the first half of our stay. The "mini bar" consists of 2x 190ml light beers and a couple of cans of pop, the clothes iron was broken, the restaurant reservation system requires an app that doesn't work well, my kids and I got scratched on nails sticking out on the playground equipment, and the food was mediocre. The WiFi system requires agreement to have your info analyzed. This hotel has potential, but is not consistent. Don't gamble your vacation.
We got to the property and it was not what we expected. The property is old and poorly maintained. There was only one attendant at the front desk that was kind enough to let us know that the property has been under constructions for over 4 months and provided us with an upgrade to a sister hotel nearby.
The room was dirty and many problems with its appliances.. someone at the activity center introduced me to a worker to book dolphin activity. That person disappeared on me and did not return my money. I went to front desk to report this and they said they could not help .. useless
Nothing unique! Check in eas a nightmare. We were moved to 2 different properties since the room we booked was unavailable. Extremely disappointing experience.
They mentioned that we will get a room with beach view and balcón but it was not true. We stay in a room with lake view and a lot of ugly buildings
Ok
They didn’t provide me with our anniversary registration, and moved us to another hotel without notice before we arrived
I like the many pools they have and the food services while you are in the pool.
I really enjoyed the spa. The room was nice. The staff particularly Tony, Andrea, and Stephanie were very professional and helpful. I will definitely come back.
Love all the amenities..not a lot of activities on this side
We have stayed at this location several times, but unfortunately this will be the last time we will be staying there. There are many reasons why. The hotel is old and run down. The rooms we stayed in where decent. We had two rooms and they both had some issues. The door to the bathroom in one of the rooms was extremely loud when closing it. There was no way to not wake someone up in the middle of the night. The main door of the other room was difficult to close without making lots of noise. At night the rooms were bright because of the lights outside, and that was the case even with the blackout blinds. The AC in the rooms, and almost everywhere in the facilities, was not up to par for the type of weather in Cancun. I woke up every night sweating. The only "saving grace" was the ceiling fans right above the beds. The eating options used to be so great years ago. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. The first two meals we had at this resort were great. When we first arrived, the Expedia representative was able to get us reservations (another inconvenience) at Marco Polo for that night. It was good, not great. The food was very good, but it was difficult to fully enjoy it because the AC was not working at all in that restaurant. There were some fan but they were not enough. The last reason for not staying at GR Caribe is the beach. This is not the resort's fault. We could not get is the water because most of the beach has washed away leaving only rocks. Not good!!!
The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. My family and I had a great time and my kids loved the Mini Club at the Solaris. Mariana was so caring to mt two daughters. I would highly recommend this resort for a family.
The people are very nice from the front desk, service and servers. Josefina, Auri, Frida and Florencio are the best servers we came across.
Execellent hotel
Stayed there many times over the years. Food was not up to par. Service is still great but it is getting run down in general. Still had fun.
Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. However, the GR Caribe which is undergoing renovation shouldn't be opened until completed. There was no internet, the elevator wasn't working,
La propiedad está falta de mantenimiento , se ve deteriorada.
Overall was okay! Besides front desk lady was just rude. Food options were limited
The hotel did not have AC in lobby it look so old , this was like a tale of the American Horror stories without Lady Gaga, the food was horrible except the breakfast. The women seemed to be angry at all times. I will NEVER EVER , go back here. NEVER I WAS ALSO PUSHED TO ALMOST DROPPED ON THE GROUND BY THE HOTEL RECEPTIONIST/MANAGER WHEN THE STORM STARTED AND Everyone WERE RUNNING INTO THE HOTEL FROM ROYAL SOLARIS , he was a short man in business casual clothing. The staff forgot to clean our room for two days we ran out toilet paper and towels
Everything and everyone were perfect!
Nn
It was leaking in the diner, When I need it ice for the room, they brought it twice, then, by the third time there was charging me to bring me ice, The staff was very nice. The food was very good other than the leaks elevators not working. Everything was OK I guess.
We loved it. We were able to share the amenities of the adjoining hotel and they were also great. Our room was clean ans spacious. Will return
We had to be moved to the property next door after wasting half our first day. The elevator was down and we were not notified.
We liked that we were able to use both properties, both properties were nice. The down fall was construction and the Elevator working sometimes. The room that we were in was very with a little kitchen and balcony .
The property was under construction, which we were not aware of. The food was less than desired, and it was extremely noisy and hard to sleep. The staff was amazing and friendly. This was our 4th time to stay, and not sure we will be back.
Don’t waste your money. Place is falling apart.
Old and outdated.
I loved my stay at the Grand Caribe however, I was never able to access the restaurant dining options because the front desk entered my email address incorrectly and they were unwilling and unhelpful in fixing it. Naomi was very rude, she refused to put the effort into getting it corrected and acted it was like it was my responsibility to fix it when I had no idea of where to even start. To say the least, the link did not work as is noted in other hotel reviews. The other dining options were fantastic. Great burgers and pizza. Emmanuel at breakfast was so wonderful and so were the pool staff and the Solaris bar manager was amazing as were the drinks and the waiters. The room was also great. Berenice was awesome with the massage in the spa. We had a great stay overall and a wonderful time. I would book a stay here again.
The hotel was in construction you can’t sleep after 10 , no any restaurant open all night , they no have night show.
Very rude
The elevator wasn't working when we arrived and we had to walk 4 sets of stairs and walk to the other end of the building. But other than that, we enjoyed the clean areas, plenty of pools and plenty of food options.
We did like the majority of the property. There were only a few things. 1, there was no beverage service on the beach. 2, the chairs at the pools are not sufficiently spaced apart so that people aren’t tripping over each other. Jacob our server was excellent, always smiling and performing his job Excellent!
Beautiful property, excellent service, extremely clean, food and drinks were great, pool was amazing, beautiful beachfront. Only improvements they should do is the WiFi situation it’s not that good and also more outlets in the rooms.
Ac never got fixed. Windows are dirty and can’t see out. Unsafe walking in a lot of areas. Ceilings leaking and peeling in a lot of spots from leaks that probably need to get fixed. Chairs at the pool are too close together. Lots of walking just to go to the bathrooms from everywhere. Staff was very friendly and work hard in all the restaurants. I probably wouldn’t go back to this resort.
Place needs major update, wall and furniture peeling
This property can't be a 4-star any more. There are signs of wears and tears everywhere starting from the reception area to the rooms, hallways, swimming pools etc. We experienced water dripping from the ceiling, non-working elevators, tiles coming out of swimming pool, door lock/bolt coming out of doors, non-functional faucets, rough towels and toilet rolls at washrooms etc. Wifi was inaccessible from room and TV channels were not there one day. We had to change room twice in a day. Overall the amenities and infrastructure reached to the age of retirement long ago. The only thing that has been keeping the flag high is the efforts of its staff to do the best for the guests.
Property is dated, needs renovation. Furniture looks old , buildings could use a full renovation. Love the beach, Gr caribe doesn’t have a restaurant to use with out reservations at night.
I wouldn’t consider this a luxury all inclusive. We didn’t get the drinks for the Expedia silver tier perks, the food was mediocre at best, although breakfast was good. The room seems a bit outdated and the shower was clogged which they fixed. We were roped into a sales presentation pitch by Franco and it was a complete waste of time. Andrea was nice but they had no respect for our time and even after we declined, they still kept pushing and wouldn’t let us leave. I won’t be back.
I’ve stayed here several times in 2022 and 2023 and loved it and this property’s quality has severely went down my recent stay here was awful. There are no elevators that work and you’ll be lucky to get ur room cleaned. The food is 1/10 and there are no options or diversity (even worse if u wanna eat healthy) it’s GROSS. they used to have a sushi bar by the pool where u could get anything now they have fruit sushi at the buffet, most of the restaurants are closed as well. The room service was always free it’s not anymore. The tennis court is out of commission. We had a 12;30 airport pickup and when it came early the staff did not tell us and did not care to help or offer help until i got a higher manager involved they basically laughed at our misfortune. Normally it’s whatever but i have vip status and have stayed here SEVERAL times. We did not receive any of our VIP perks. None of this is advertised and they will not care/refund you/tell u anything. I’m not rich whatsoever or snobby, just looking to have fun by the pool and this experience was hard to obtain here.
undergoing renovations, poor to no Wi-Fi access in the rooms. Elevator didn’t work. Meats with sometimes under cooked. Very nice property.Very nice staff. Great location. Convenient for the price. Upon arrival you get hounded to sit and schedule an appointment to listen to a hotel club membership before you get to see your room.
We enjoyed our stay, however the food was not good at any of the restaurants or snack bar. The nacho chips were hard and thick. Chicken wings were not recognizable. We ate at each restaurant and none of them were good. I had to pay $31 for a ribeye that was overcooked and 1/2 inch thick. Stick with the cheeseburger at the snack bar!! Breakfast with omelette and fried eggs, fruit, cottage cheese and fresh pancakes was good. Jacob at the pool bar was EXCELLENT!! And Nancy!! They made up for the bad food with their friendliness and service!!
Been here five times. Restaurant s are very good. Pools and bars are great. Rooms are good. We were on fourth floor and loved the views. Problem is elevators were out the entire time we were there. Overall good. Just exhausting climbing up and down stairs.
No hot water in the bathroom was my only issue at this hotel.
Great area to star everything available
Friendly kind and nice people.
Good service
My room was upgraded but I didn’t have drawers to put my clothes in. We were family of 3 living out of our suitcase for 5 nights
If you're not a member of the facility it's kinda not real beneficial for you. Go some place else
We loved the pool and the hot tubs. The breakfasts were awesome and we had amazing food at the Bagavante Restaurant which is built directly above the ocean. The hotel had a really nice gift shop, although a bit expensive. The room was great and the king bed really comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a most enjoyable 7 night stay.
A
Unfortunate time to go as there are renovations being done
Good stay. Relaxing spot with beautiful view and area. Not a party and luxury stay .
Property is outdated. Elevator was not working. Very limited food options in the restaurant for lunch. The pizza option served by the pool is worth it, and the drinks as well. For dinner, the restaurants that require reservation offer very good food and good service. Entertainment is also very good. My 3-year-old daughter was amazed by the Disney show performance.
Room was not what I booked, elevator did not work most of the time, not much hot water when showering, only served cheap liquor
My personal experience is that I spent 6 days at the GR Caribe resort from 04/20-26. Everything was smooth from checking in to checking out. Staff very friendly, helpful and went above and beyond to help. Facility may appear old for those who are looking for trendy or modern places, but to me it represented the Mexican architecture with arches and old furniture reflecting the country's culture, more modern style would be the next door Solaris hotel. Food was repetitive but there were 3out of 5 restaurants requiring reservation (still all inclusive) and you can make reservation the day before because they get booked fast. Restaurants offer international, French, Italian and Mexican menus with rotations. Beaches and area safe. We rode the bus to Mercado 28 for souvenirs purchases and the bus stop was at the front of the hotel and runs every 5-10min. Pools, music and night shows are shared between GR Caribe and Solaris and you can cross between both easily. I won't mind going back to the same hotel if it is for a relaxing break as it is in a quiet area. However, if you are looking for night life and traffic, I would say maybe go north, closer to Cocco Bongo area (approx. 10 min by bus), there is more entertainment and restaurants all time.
It wasn’t terrible just aged for sure food options aren’t the best either
GR Solaris Caribe - All Inclusive | Home in Cancun | Travala.com
I found the property to be very well maintained and easy to access all kinds of activities and entertainment rite at the site
