This property was really nice! The staff was super friendly and helpful and it has great onsite amenities such as a day spa, pool, and pretty decent dining. The area around is a little sketchy but Durban is on the more developing side of living.
Great place by the beach.
The hotel is right on the beach with excellent access to it and a great view. The beach is very busy and can be noisy, so maybe not the best place if you’re after a quiet get away. But, if you want a hopping place, it’s that. VERY helpful people who went out of their way to make sure our stay went well.
good location by the golden mile beach
good location just by the beach and room has great view of beach to watch sunrise
We were in Durban for a junior tennis competition. So there were a few of us staying at the hotel. I had read the reviews about staff friendliness; but I suspected that they might be slightly untrue, given that the reviews were always so good. Oh my god - the staff are amazing. I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world - and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff is just as fantastic. Yes - sure - there are more presentable parts of the beach further north up the coast - that is probably true - however, this area is just fine. Much more exciting. Much more in touch with the locals. And the hotel could not get closer to the beach. In fact - I think it is the closest hotel to the beach, in the whole of Durban. And all the rooms have sea views. And because the hotel literally looks onto the promenade - if you love watching people, you will not get bored at looking out of your window for hours on end watching the activity below. On top of it all - great restaurant and room service in house. Plus some more places to eat just minutes away. And having a full kitchen in the room is also a massive bonus. We can't wait to go back in a few months time.
The staff was very friendly and my apartment was very clean. The staff is very professional
Although the facilities and the room are great, it is the staff that made our stay. Nothing was ever too much and always eager to assist. Friendly and knowledgeable, have already recommended to my daughter who is visiting Durban in a month’s time.
Great place with great views
The hotel is nice and clean but the rooms are a little small. TV was intermittent.
The images online are deceiving. This property is deteriorating. Very very old and outdated. Not worth it considering that one can stay at a better hotel in a different area at about the same price!
Not worth the price
Hygiene standards were pathetic. The rooms had a damp smell.
Great
Not too thrilled
The room and staff itself were great however, as daily cleaning service was not provided due to covid, we had to request for cleaning service at the start of our stay. In total I must have asked about 7 times for room cleaning, and when I called reception to find out why my room was not made up, they informed me that my room was not on the list despite me asking for cleaning over 5 times. Apart from that, when I called reception, 3 different people gave me 3 different times for when room cleaning commences. Wi-Fi did not work in my room for the duration of my stay. As the booking website classified The Palace as self-catering, I brought along my own food, however my room did not have a microwave and I had to go down to the hotel kitchen each time to warm my food-before 7pm as the kitchen closed at that time. I was not happy
Not the best stay
There wasnt enough parking and the door to the apartment wasnt easy to lock.i also had issue with my breakfast as my booking was done with breakfast but i had to go to the reception twice for them to give me access to breakfast as it was not reflecting on the hotels system.
Unknown delight
This location is one of the unknown gems on the Durban coastline. Boasting a 4 star rating they live up to the hype. The staff are extremely friendly, the units are clean and have an amazing view. Their in house restaurant are efficient and an excuse to stay in. Definitely recommended
Good experience and will visit again
I think the bathroom could do with improvement by having a new toilet seat fitted and the towel rail could be better placed as it is in the way whilst showering. Maybe a smart TV with Netflix would be a nice improvement to the room as well. However all in all it was a good experience because the staff are so friendly and welcoming and I’ll definitely stay at the Palace again.
Amazing stay :)
it was a truly amazing stay, everyone was so kind from the beginning till the end of the stay. we ended up going fishing and the restaurant allowed us to keep our fish in the freezer till it was time for us to leave. when we asked for the room to be cleaned / towels to be changed everything was done on spot. the thing that made us the most comfortable is the fact that we felt safe during the whole stay , with this whole covid-19 story , there was senatiser available throughout the hotel. thank yous so much for making us feel at home. we miss it already.
The place was clean and decent, however we had to make numerous calls to reception to sort out a whole lot of issues which included cleaning of the rooms that was decided on check in, fixing of the air conditioner, toilet leaks, noisy neighbors etc. Overall it was a disappointing experience.
Renovations
Cleanliness, zero. No cleaning happened during my week stay due to Covid apparently. That place is more of a backpackers than anything. Renovations. Renovations Renovations
The staff were great and very helpful and the location was good however the hotel needs updating and has cleanliness issues. The windows in our room were filthy which kind of takes away from the ocean view. We saw cockroaches in the hotel but not in our room luckily. The shower was terrible, the shower head either sprayed too far and soaked the bathroom or if you tilted it it would fall on your head. The grip mat in the bath was also dirty and there was a clothes line type thing in the shower that was moody/mildewy. The bathroom sink was also clogged and drained very slowly.

I loved the location and view from our room. The hotel gets a few things right but the rooms are needing a refresh. Feels old and grubby. Staff is lovely and attentive. Parking onsite is super inexpensive. Food at hotel restaurant is decent as well.
It was amazing. We only had an issue with a window... It was a bit loose and the wind blowing was making some noise
I like its proximity to the beach and fast food spots. The staff could use some energy, communication and organizational skills.
Excellent stay
Nicely done up,Good location.
Excellent
Great stay
Very happy
Extremely good
It was a great stay needed a quiet clean place to recharge and I got exactly that. I am happy.
Great staff and excellent location. Beautiful views with the constant sound of waves breaking and an ocean breeze coming in the windows. Will surely stay again.
The property is right on the beach. Not a resort area, but not the dodgiest area. The AC was not fixed upon request, and the room furniture had a slightly musty smell. However, the kitchen was fully equipped and very nice. The view is also great! The restaurant is not that great. I additionally was not notified until the night before that apparently I had to switch rooms halfway through my stay, which was not very professional as I did not see the piece of paper until the morning. While in the morning it was worked out and I did not have to move, I was never even notified during check in.
Very goog comfort
Quite noisy during weekend
Beautiful
My partner and myself enjoyed it so much, that we booked an extra day and I didn't have to change rooms....
ACCOMMODATION NOT SUITABLE FOR BUSINESS
My customers got to the reception and left. this accommodation is not conducive for Business people. please make a note on the hotel description that the hotel is suitable for Leisure, not Business Travellers Thank You
It was terrible when i arrived as i could not check in coz i paid online and check in time was different so i had to pay for another room by cash. The manager came and refunded my money and madebmy stay so pleasant. This will always be my hotel of choice on Durban
Durban
The pictures on the internet don't look like the rooms in person. The spa is good and housekeeping is good.
Beachfront apartment style accomodation
Great hotel on the beachfront with spacious rooms and good facilites. Close to lots of shops, restaurants and bars and hotel has good security and very friendly, professional staff. I would stay again when in Durban.
great staff - great views
Staff were all uniformly lovely and helpful. Some services that were advertised - such as laundry - were not available. The food at Pesto restaurant was ok, not great. Pity the beaches nearly were not available - visitors should check this first!
Nice hotel very close to everything , beach shops
Great stay enjoyed our 4 days , only problem WiFi was a problem had to go across the road bye the beach cafe to get WiFi . Other than that great hotel & staff facilities excellent great location would recommend others . Will be back with my family again .
It's Durban, it's perfect.
The rooms and location is amazing - although I am biased because I used to lived right behind the hotel. Waking up to the view of the ocean is spectacular and everyone at the hotel is very friendly. The only thing left to be desired is a better or larger pool.
Location was good near to beach and many eating options. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Room was comfortable and stay was pleasant.
It was average. This hotel is part of a vacation club and their focus and offerings are geared to their members.
Seaview Beach Hotel - safe, clean, great location
Location is unbeatable for price! Unobstructed ocean views, supervised beaches 100m away with 5km developed beach promenade, including bike & surf rentals, parks, cafes & restaurants, and touristy shops at uShaka Water Park (2km away). Single queen-bed room clean, comfortable for 1 person but would be a tight fit for 2 people. Hotel restaurant reasonably priced, good food & variety. Staff helpful, especially managers. All room amenities functional. Spa and sun-lounge were closed unfortunately (without notice). Pool area small and on rooftop overlooking downtown skyline (no ocean views), clean and maintained, but hot-tub jacuzzi not working. Feels more like a renovated condo building or time-share rather than a hotel. Negatives: no direct airport shuttle (only generic airport shuttle for 80ZAR that drops-off at all downtown hotels); noise and smells carry very easily from unit to unit, especially ones with adjoining doors; spa was closed without prior notice to guests.
I can't fault anything
Clean, quite, comfortable n accessible
Overall good stay, con: no safe in our room
Happy with the stay and condition of the hotel. The fantastic sea view was a plus. Only negative was there was no safe in the room which was an inconvenience. Bar this would have rated 5 stars.
Convenient accommodation
Excellent experience. Hotel close to all amenities. You don't even need to use your car. Will definitely stay there again
Ok
A really nice place ruined by the levels of noise. They had a live band at 2PM next to check in, it was so loud. No one could hear each other and we had to go to room to call done for passwords etc, as could bear standing next to each other. Crazy idea.
nice hotel close to the beach
We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment for 5 days....very nice hotel, lovely views, very clean. Staff were very helpful, food in Pesto was excellent. Should we ever visit Durban again, would use again.
Enjoyable and super comfortable.
My husband and I really enjoyed ourselves at The Palace All-Suites. We are most definitely coming back!!!
Beautiful view on the beach front
The self-catering room was very pleasant.
