It had amazing pools and lazy rivers the food was delicious and the beach was amazing. Javier was an amazing personal concierge.

Concierge Haviar was excellent. Called us everyday to make sure all was good and see if we needed anything.

None of the employees spoke any English except for front desk and management positions. They were replacing door locks during the day right outside my son’s wedding suite and it was a mess and noisy. Many employees were in training at every position. Beach and pools are beautiful but you nn have to upgrade $80. A day for access to premier pools and restaurants. Pools and wedding areas and staff were clean and very organized. Food was average at best including the FFrench restaurant.

We did not like getting shanghai'd for a high pressure sales pitch for Hyatt properties right from the start of our visit then over 2 hours the next day. We were on vacation for our 50th Anniversary not there to buy extras. Can we get our three hours back???

Good if you don't suffer from allergy.

It all depends if you are allergic or not. The hotel has the main original building wish is the one they book us at arraival. The room was nice. The problem for us started as soon as we enter the room. Tha main A/C unit is central and the humidity was out of control due to lack of maintenace. Not even ambient deodorizer and a portable dehumidifier could improve it. They switch us to another room in the same building not forgeting that the A/C is a central unit covering all the rooms in the same building. We remain the first night in this room but the next day requested to be change to a compleatly difrent building. They switch us to a newer building wish the A/C was also newer. What a difrence tha room felt fresher & dryer with no huymidity problems. If they had put us in the newer building from the begining the hole expiriance whould have veen 10/10. They know they have humidity problems but only the ones who complain would be given another room. If you don't have allergy problems you would'nt feel a thing. This was for new year eve. The hotel was packed.. all other services where 10/10

I traveled with one other person, some of the staff was a little rude did not seem as though they wanted to be there. However, Carlos and JR from the bellboy portion of the staff were very nice and helpful as well as Isabell from the dining staff was also very helpful and greatly appreciated. Yakasta was very friendly and checked in beyond the service she offered. The coupons they give you when checking in are a scam not worth it at all. Food was inconsistent as in some days good some days not so good however, the lunch buffet typically had good options. I typically eat fish and vegan/vegetarian meals so if this is you will have food options. The beach was nice but gets pretty crowded people are constantly trying to sell you things nonetheless you are still able to enjoy it. The rooms were very clean as well as the rest of the property. The shows each night were pretty good. Overall my stay was pleasant i would stay here again if i was with my family.

Our group of 6 had a wonderful time at Dreams Onyx. Our concierge Javier was the absolute best and made our trip a breeze. Plenty of things to do and we enjoyed the water park and access to Breathless next door.

We had an amazing time at dreams onyx resort! We have stayed at the adult side once before (breathless) and absolutely loved it. We made the decision to stay on the family side this year because it was cheaper and we were able to walk between both resorts. We are happy we have stayed at both because both resorts are amazing. The water slides and lazy river is so relaxing and fun. The amenities on both resorts are more than enough to keep you busy and having fun. The food is always great! We’d always come back if we can to either side! Nellis (Nelly) at the preferred pool on dreams side, she is the reason we hung out at this pool! She was always on it with our drinks and food, she’s the best over there! In 2022 when we stayed we had an amazing time because of Kelvin at the adult pool bar, we couldn’t wait to come back and see him again this time! Not only is he still there but he’s now in charge or the boss and he’s doing an amazing job! we are so happy for him and proud of him! He does a great job everyday. Same with Nichol in the buffet on breathless side! We couldn’t wait to see him again and when we did he was now running the show in the buffet! Always so sweet and helpful, I love that this resort promotes great workers! Dariana who worked at the coffee spot in the buffet at breathless was so amazing and such a hard worker even being pregnant! She always made me happy in the mornings with my cappuccino and her smile! She is a great worker as well!

Javier was absolutely incredible and provided our group of 30 with incredible and speedy service. Every event or activity we wanted he was right away to help set it up for our enjoyment. Dinners, beach event, for both adults in kids. Very professional and kind. The service in general during our stay was beyond excellent. Definitely recommend and will be coming back!

Our stay was great. Javier helped us a lot. He was very patient and accommodating.

This is our second stay at a Dreams resort. We noticed some differences like no welcome drinks upon arrival. We also noticed that the preferred bars did not have the same premium liquors as the Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica. We did not really see the point of staying preferred at this resort other than the option to dine preferred for breakfast and lunch, which is air conditioned. The Italian restaurant was not good in our opinion. The hibachi was amazing. Buffet was decent but some of the fried foods tasted like they were fried in dirty oil. Best dish in the Buffett was the chivo guisado. Overall our stay was nice, there is more events and activities but I was quite underwhelmed by our experience.

Great hotel, water park amazing, outside from the buffet, food and drinks were beyond my expectations for an all inclusive.

We had the most amazing butler, Breilin. He made our stay INCREDIBLE. If it were not for him we would have been lost. We loved it so much because of our butler that we are coming back after the new year. I have never experienced such incredible service as I have with him and the rest of the staff. The property is so beautiful. I went with my entire family and we all had an exceptional time.

This is a beautiful property- one of the best ones we have stayed in. The best things: - great water park/lazy river (minus one big slide that’s closed because “it’s too fast”???) -amazing nightly shows. We saw the rock show with incredible singers, a really fun fire/acrobatic show, and a circus show which was very impressive. Some of the best resort shows we have seen! - super friendly staff, and beautifully kept grounds and buildings. Rooms and bathrooms were always clean and lovely. - booking with Expedia gets u “preferred” access. A butler (whom we barely used but he was very nice and helpful), access to separate quieter dining if we wanted, a nice beach bag, and access to a private preferred pool that was lovely but we couldn’t use bc it was adults only and we had our son with us - speciality restaurants were very good. Hibachi/japanese is the only one that requires a reservation, and it was our fav. We also liked the steakhouse and the Mediterranean food (although only those at our table who got the shish kabob loved the med food. The beef dish wasnt good at all) The decent: - the buffet food was only ok. Plenty of options but the meat and potato dishes were almost always dry and flavorless. I loved breakfast, but lunch and dinner were only ok- but that’s where the speciality restaurants came in handy! - the fact that preferred status was limited to families - we had access to the Breathless resort next door- but it was also adults only.

Dreams Onyx was a fun spot to stay, the cleaning staff, bartenders, and wait staff were very kind and approachable. I thought for an all inclusive the food ranged from okay to pretty good, not incredible. The pools and beach are really nice and there is an activity every night, some higher quality than others. Our room was very clean and the resort grounds were very well kept. Overall, for an all inclusive vacation this was worth the money and we would come back. Thanks to the Dreams Onyx team for a fun week, especially Sterling at the pool!

Was my second time at this resort for a wedding! Resort is nice, some staff are exceptionally nice and helpful and others are rude. We had a butler and I don’t know if it was who we had or how it works, but after the first day outside of text messaging he was not attentive to us at all, total waste of money. We upgraded for private pool and adult only pool, premium liquor. Lots of food options and you can utilize dreams next door. The drink options with upgrade were no different, grey goose, Don Julio, Hennessy was still not an option and had to be brought by the bottle. Traveled with a group and had fun, but would not return to this resort voluntarily if I visit DR again.

Restaurant food subpar at best. Bad steaks, horrible Mexican food, hibachi staff n show was better than food. Had no representation of Real Dominican food. Get rid of the Mexican restaurant and add a DR one after all we are going to DR. The cave water slide needs to be resurfaced it left scratch down my back. Also all the hallways have super slick tiles and are always wet. Water leaked cracks from shower to sleep area and she ended up slipping and falling. Out door tub had no hot water. Overall highly unlikely to return but the kind hearted hard working staff saved this resort from being 1 star.

Our VIP personal concierge Javier, was such a great personal concierge everything we need he was already on top of it from the time we got there until the time we left he even checked and made sure we made it home safe. The entire staff was awesome. Ivette and enolo was also great people. Because of them we will be visiting again very soon. Thanks to Javier for everything

We were VERY disappointed with Dreams Onyx! When we got to our room we couldn't get the door to unlock so we couldn't get out and when we went to call the Front Desk, the phone had no to cord on it. The TV also didn't work. The food was terrible. The service at the buffets was horrible. After we were seated it took forever for anyone to come to our table to ask for drinks and then we never got them. The waiters just kept walking by us like we didn't exist. When we asked them again where our drinks were, they seemed very put out. The food in the Mediterranean restaurant was barely edible. The meat was so tough, we couldn't even cut it with a knife. The couple beside us left immediately after getting their food, it was that bad. I understand you're not going to have 5-star meals, but at least make them edible! It was very noticeable most of the staff didn't want to be there. There were a few that went above and beyond and we appreciated that. We did have a horrible experience at the swim up bar in the lazy river. The bartender was so focused on our 12 year old daughter, it was creepy. He kept asking her questions, how old she was, where she was from, what she likes to do and would not take his eyes off her at all. He barely looked at my husband and I when we were trying to order drinks. He was so creepy, we immediately left. Seemed like unless you were Preferred status, you really didn't matter.

Very friendly, cleanliness

Went for my 24th birthday and had the absolute best time. The atmosphere, the food, the drinks, the pools, and the beaches just everything couldn’t have been more perfect. You would expect resort food to not be good and catered to americans but the blue water grill was the place to be at for food so good! The only negative i would have to say is the water bugs. which weren’t too bad, none in the rooms just around outside on the property but it’s the caribbean so i expected water bugs. Two specific workers made the trip better than i expected, Wester made sure the bar sang me happy birthday with my very own birthday cake with my personal name written on it. His drinks were amazing and just right! The other worker was Jhomar who was our server at the restaurants and buffet also made my birthday very special brought me a cupcake with a candle and sang me happy birthday. Both of these workers made my family and i feel special as soon as we say each other. 1000/10 would book here every trip!

Great stay and staff! Kind of confusing to navigate how big it is but staff is so friendly and willing to help. Pool, lazy River and water slides were a super fun way to spend the day. The restaurants were delicious and there are bars everywhere! A couple downsides; the bed wasn’t very comfortable at all, the porch tub took forever to fill and the breakfast buffet was not good at all. Great vacation overall though!

Love everything about the resort from the time I arrived to the time I left , from the start check in was vary fast and simple. While the staff was checking us in we enjoyed Champagne and snacks at the private check in area. Then are bags were swept away with us to the room , the room did not disappoint vary clean and Beautiful vary spacious . We had a private pool and Bali bed which was great , the property was very beautiful clean at all times . We enjoyed the endless food at all times . The endless options of fresh delicious food at the buffet was great . We also enjoyed the different restaurants at night that are butler Alvarorijo would make reservations for us every night . Special thanks to my new friend Alvarorijo what a wonderful guy made are trip stress free what ever we needed he was there no matter what … thanks again my friend hope to see you again soon ..

Property could use some upgrades, beds are kind of hard. However the staff is great and the beach is amazing. This place has the best beach area! Also Kary at the beach is the best , she made great drinks and was super attentive.

Quedamos decepcionados: elegimos este hotel para nuestras vacaciones familiares por el parque de agua y cuando llegamos nos llevamos la sorpresa de que ese mismo día lo cerraron por mantenimiento. No obstante, nos asignan una habitación frente al parque cerrado como para recordarnos lo que pagamos y no íbamos a poder utilizar. Lo tomamos variado y sencillamente decidimos pasarla bien por nuestra cuenta como se pudiera.Luego en la noche el restaurante buffet estaba cerrado y los restaurantes de especialidad había tiempo de espera: un abuso para familias con niños pequeños, hubo que improvisar. Uns persona nos llamó a la habitación y le manifestamos nuestro malestar con el hotel y solo nos ofreció hablar con chef para darnos algo diferente para nuestra hija. Le dijimos que no, porque en realidad no iba a compensar la situación. Ya el día del check out le comunicamos a la persona que nos atendió y solo nos dijo que por qué no nos quejamos antes? Sí lo hicimos y nadie demostró voluntad por hacernos sentir diferente. Ella dijo que iba a escalar nuestra queja y esta es la fecha que nadie nos ha contactado. Con tantas ansias y expectativas que teníamos … lo bonito y tranquilo que es pero nos decepcionaron.

Grounds were absolutely beautiful and so were the rooms. Very well kept. The entertainment was good. The food and alcoholic beverages were not the best in my opinion.

Dreams Onyx Resort & Spa All Inclusive was Beautiful. The Property, the Staff and all of the amenities was excellent. I Love the Adult Pool and all the Restaurant choices. I also love that we were able to go over to the Breathless Resort as well. Lovely Resort.

The property is clean, although our room didn’t look like someone cleaned it after the previous people. We had an old birthday cake and balloons in our patio. Mind you we did book the swim up with butler room. Our room wasn’t decorated for our anniversary and birthday prior to our arrival. The butler did bring strawberries and chocolate to our room but I guess I was just looking for more than average from previous reviews. Liquor is NOT TOP SHELF. Although they did overprice top shelf bottles for $160 ( Don Julio). Additionally the food was not good. The only thing that was good was Hibachi. The steak house was Okay. Pool beautiful, Beach beautiful, Interior design beautiful. Entertainment was Okay nothing spectacular. Breathless amenities and drinks are also accessible and free. But overall I definitely wouldn’t book with them again because they don’t serve top shelf liquor, our room had left over decor (not properly cleaned). Honestly Hard Rock is worth the couple extra bucks ! Trust me

What's not too like

We stayed at the beautiful Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa July 4th - 9th to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival the bellman greeted us, took our luggage to the hold area and guided us to the reception desk. Ryan at the desk was very welcoming and assisted us with check in which thankfully did not take long. My husband decided to upgrade to the preferred club and that was the best decision!! Upgrade room, upgrade breakfast seating and butler service. After check in we waited in the preferred club to meet our Butler. This is a relaxing space where you can enjoy snacks, finger foods and premium bar service. A friendly young lady did approach us inquiring if we would like to hear about their timeshare. We kindly declined and it was never mentioned again through out our trip. Our Butler, Rafael, greeted us and escorted us to our room. Let me say now he provided extraordinary service from the time we met him until the time of our departure! On our anniversary he made arrangements for a nice intimate dinner and surprisingly beautifully decorated our room while we were at dinner. Twice a day he checked on us to ask if we needed anything and confirmed our dinner reservations. We are so thankfully for Rafael’s genuine hospitality, he truly went above and beyond!! The best service that you can receive, they make you feel like home, all of them at this hotel are super profesional, we do recomend both hotels, Dreams and Breathless to friends and family, so many names, angie at the beach, the housekeeping woman, all of you guys the best, please keep out the good job.

We had the time of our lives, thanks to the magnificent staff at this resort. Everything was absolutely perfect, and their customer service is impeccable. We were a large group with several rooms reserved for this trip. I don’t think we have ever been treated with such kindness, love, and welcoming energy anywhere else. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be coming back very soon!
