Not the best, not the worst. Food is awful though. Shootout to the front desk service.
The place is quite large, have a private beach and 5 pools ( all are small pool). The food was better than we expected. We were there 8 days and none of the food repeated. The minor issue is that when we reach the room, the tv didnt work and electricity issue but was solved by the hotel. Wish they were responding a bit faster and not a few hours later. Other than that everything was great!
The location is great, rooms are clean, staff is friendly and helpful. Loved the walking trail. Resort is small so easy to get around and food was good with options for eating throughout the day. Staff goes to a lot of effort to give you a real taste of Mexico
Great stay and good price!
Great twin beaches, walkable to many activities, quaint staff efforts, kitchen creative with available foods, I prefer the three storey walkups, folksy entertainment, priced right for Canadians and locals, glad to see the concrete work getting patched and step off edges painted, very bright sign across street at aqua court, lots of 12 peso buses, we be back
The staff at Dos Playas were exceptional! Everyone was really nice and accommodating, from the front desk staff to the servers. Guadalupe and Luis were particularly great servers, and they made our stay all the more enjoyable! The beach area is great, and it is easy to access excursions from this hotel. The buffet was great every day, from breakfast to dinner. There are also pretty good snack options on-site, like pizza and burgers. There is entertainment in the nighttime, which was enjoyable. You can walk to Coco Bongo from here in about 40 minutes. The hotel does appear to be a little older. The room will not be the best you've ever stayed in, and some sections of the resort could use a little physical love. If you're more interested in a great and picturesque room, this resort probably isn't for you. If you're more interested in the beach, excursions, and exploring Cancun, this resort will allow you to do that at an affordable price. There were tons of families vacationing at this resort while we were there, and they seemed to be having a great time! I think people of all ages can enjoy themselves here. The staff, including maintenance and cleaners, were very receptive to our requests, and they were very prompt. The highlights of this resort were the staff, the beach, and the buffet.
Staff super friendly
Property is very old . Dining was not good. My daughter got food poisoning the second day . Walk in clinic and pharmacy is right next door. Only two bottles of water in room no other beverages included in frig. Buffet was very limited and other restaurant was Mexican and was very bad quality. Bathrooms near buffet smelled terrible. Have been to Cancun over 10 times and this place was the worst by far. Would not recommend .
they are excellent
It was a wonderful experience!
Loved the level of service- very kind and helpful employees especially for complete tourists like me and my friend! Helped us navigate Mexico by explaining how the buses/taxis work and helping us book a car last minute sitting with us for 45mins calling the places as most don’t even speak English. Only small things like we had to ask for our bedsheets to be replaced when we got there- they had stains. And my friend found a hair in the food once which spoiled our appetite. These things could have happened anywhere so we appreciate the staff taking care of both situations
This is a small resort so there is quietness if you prefer, the food is not as good as expected but the food option is changed every day to make up for it. Pizza place is great compared to other food options. If they clean the seaweeds on the beach more often, it would greatly increase satisfaction. Staff is friendly overall. We like the green shades as there are lot of trees at the resort.
The beach is beautiful.
Place is outdated, staff is friendly but it takes forever to get something (ahorita…). Drinks are the worst, food is fair.
Good
It’s a old hotel, they should make a maintenance in the structure
😮💨😓😓
The ground in the hotel, all stairs and stones. Even the way for wheels, Especially in the rainy days, the ways are very slippery. I felt and twisted my ankle right away on the first day after checked in.. the hotels no elevator so I have to move to downstairs without window.. I tried to upgraded to ocean view room.. but there is shower rain that all the rain water coming into the room everywhere.. me and my daughter must stayed on the bed .. all my suitcases are staying in the water.. we tried to call front desk to help.. in the begging they said 5minutes, 10 minutes and right away… and then hanged up my call.. until after 3 hours, my daughter went to the front desk directly in the rain and asked them to do something to solve problems… finally they sent a cleaning lady came and used a mop to move the water on the room ground to hall way .. that’s it! Of course there still had some water under the bed and suitcases.. I’m not just complain about the old equipment (old shower head, old faucet…, ) the most important thing is no honest and slow services.. in my life, I travelled all of the world, it is the worst hotel I never been.. 😮💨I stayed two different hotels this time in Cancun.. the other one is perfect .. I never thought I had so such a bad experience with this hotel..
I stayed just one night and it was just perfect. The building has pros and cons’ The hotel has beach access Very clean rooms 3 medium swimming pools The restaurant is doing the best they can, sometimes too crowded, food is ok Some of the staff are super friendly, but at the lobby there is not the best customer service There is no elevator No activities organized by the hotel
Food was terrible
Loved the buffets! Everybody was very polite and helpful as we didn’t speak spanish. Lots of different things going around during the day and nights each day we were there so plenty of entertainment! Lots of pool room and loungers. Definitely recommend.
Poor facility. I booked two rooms, rain water leaked into one of the rooms. Called the front desk and asked for change, they said no room available and even not bother to send a employee to look how bad the leak was. We had to run to the front desk to talk to the manager, she finally agreed to change. Some pieces of concrete from the balcony of the upper floor falled to another room's during rain. The food quality is low and the choices are limited. There are only two operating restaurants. They closed one of the during a rainy evening, made guests standing in a long line outside waiting for dinner. We had to wait for one hour to get a beach towel. Most of the employee are nice and willing to help.
This hotel is located on the northern side of the hotel zone. Access to the beach is convenient, with views of Isla Mujeres. The hotel is right next to the Ultramar ferry that leaves for Isla Mujeres from a pier on Playa Tortugas. This is not the most upscale hotel in this area, but we thought we got more of a local feel staying at this hotel (compared to the other typical US hotel chain names) especially in their food menu. Unlike many hotels in the hotel zone that looked like maximizing the number of rooms in tall buildings, this hotel has smaller sized buildings (2-3 floors) with plenty of open space, including five pools which our child loved. The smaller scale of the number of rooms and fellow guests, and plenty of open spaces meant that we felt comfortable letting our child explore the premises more independently, which was nice. There were also plenty of iguanas and peacocks nonchalantly walking around on the property. The staff is very friendly.
Todos fueron muy amables y ayudaban en todo lo q necesitabamos, la comida en especial en el restaurante cielito lindo muuuy rica
The staff is very friendly. The place itself is old. The housekeepers do minimal even when you leave them a good tip each day. The food is not good. Recycled every day. Same food for a week and not of good quality at all. Personally, I will not return to this property.
Resort is ok, spend 1 night here before going to final destination. Food was not the best, not much to do at the resort. Workers are very nice and friendly but it needs a lot of work.
Siri front desk ruined my checkout. He wanted to charge me for not having my bracelet. I had cut it off the night before because we don’t need it anymore since I was checking out early morning next day. They don’t tell you at checkin to keep it until checkout. Suri should be executed by a cartel. All the other hotel staff were friendly and hard working. Good value budget friendly all inclusive hotel. Good food. Clean room , shower, and comfortable bed. It’s not a five star hotel so don’t expect perfect everything. There are stairs on wall, rusted lamps, and broken outlets. Entertainment by the pool and every night. I had to pay for two rooms for my adult kids who came along so this budget all inclusive hotel with two rooms was a bargain.
Exelent atention and enterteiment
The property is rundown and old, the food was terrible, the bath towels looked like floor rags. The front desk afternoon staff was very nasty when I called to request an extra towel. At the dining room Breakfast time asked for a omelette with ham, cheese, onions and tomatoes the lady told me no only two ingredients haha I told her you make me my omelette the way I want to eat it. We want it to rest that’s why we rent it here a family small hotel but is not worth the money. Terrible place to stay.
Great value for the money.
I like the buffet every day they have different menus.
The resort was very cute and the staff were amazing and very friendly
It was an awful experience staying for our family. The pool was busy and only chairs there not enough beds for most of the guests and smelly. There’s beautiful beach but junk everywhere, really hope the hotel would look after the beach well . The room was so old and you could hear the someone talking easily. The restaurant was dirty … but the staffs in reception were very nice.
I wasn’t my best experience, had to upgrade my room for extra because the first room not at good condition at all. Didn’t like the food choices. Good friendly stuff and good service tho
I really appreciate the service from all the staff, I found the food to be varied and tasty. The property although is not new is quite comfortable. I felt close to the natural environment and away from any city vibes.
Nice place to relax , definitely not a party hotel
xxxxx
Everting good
Staff Lady in front lobby was rude, and not very helpful at all. No coffee maker in room. During rain we got water into our room, there was at least 2” of water that I stepped into in the morning, so we left 2 days early rented a different resort, I’m hoping to get my money back.
Hotel en muy buena ubicacion a un costado de la playa, la habitacion que nos toco estaba recien remodelada, amplia y muy bonita. Los Jueves tienen noche mexicana con antojitos mexicanos delociosos.
Budget Friendly! Did not know Bar didn’t open until 10am. It’s vacation-we like mimosas w/ breakfast! Especially since we did excursions 2days and was off the resort a nice amount of time. Plus, rather early. Although, we did not go to the sushi restaurant, the food selection was not great. We was told once that they were out of burger buns, so I believe others weren’t impressed w/ the food either. Overall, okay for a weekend trip, as we ate well off the resort.
Hotel needs “Do not Disturb” signs for doors. This would eliminate cleaning staff from knocking and/or walking in the room at 8:00 am.. Restaurants were very good.
Nice place, safe
Fue todo muy bonito gracias
Staff was very friendly. Food buffet and drinks was delicious.
I loved the property and the sushi restaurant! It was beautiful and money well spent my oonly issue was the all you can eat breakfast could’ve been a little better.
Bathroom is not good.
Food was bad
Needs updated i didn't have water in my room for 12 hours .
Everything was pretty good at this property. Although it's an older building, it's kept pretty clean. My family and I loved the pools, and especially the private beach! We also loved the different food options, although they didn't have ice ream, which is something they need to add to their menu! Also, one thing that was not as pleasant was the mattress of the bed provided in our room for my husband and I, it was too hard and gave us an achy back. Good thing the bed my daughters used was ok.
You send me the page to leave a review when I didn't even honor the presence there, I kept writing on the chat, I sent emails, I can't get in touch with anyone, my flight was refused, I didn't understand the reason why this happened and I didn't succeed to reach my destination, I chose this location precisely because it seemed to me that it was all I needed for a successful vacation, but because of this situation I was unable to reach it! Please, let's find a way to return my money back,Capatina Alexandra Iulia
Beautiful & wonderful experience. The staff was awsome
Limited seating.
The A/C wasn’t enough to cooldown the bedroom, they give you only one key impossible to get second one, in on the hand , buffet is very decent, but if you have a early tour they don’t let you take the minimum to get breakfast you are no allow to take food out of restaurant.
Worst experience in my life! Been traveking for over 25 year and never had an isisue or experience like this, rude staff starting with the GM, got my room broken into by satff stold 10k pesos like 400$ us dollars, m, walet and documents!! Will never recomend or stay hwre evwr again
The food was mediocre. The snack menu was the same EVERYDAY.
Elegant, fun, orderly, beautiful, abundant, attention to details, service at your fingertips: are all qualities that describe this resort.
Variety of foods was great
The staff are really nice, they love doing their job so they are super good at it
Nice place , beautiful location :)
Smile in the room and hallway was terrible. I cancelled the reservation and moved to different hotel. Because I have asthma and the smile was tigered it. We never expected with this situation also came a experenced bedbucks. We only stayed couple of hours at the room. and I addressed it with the service staff and have a report. I also reported to Expedia the sameday but Expedia says they cannot refunded or the hotel cannot take that responsibility and refund the money back. I am really disappinted with Expedia's response. It is not purposely cancelled and moved to another hotel by reserving on Expedia again. The policy says no refund but this is a unexpeted circumstances and health problem. It is reduculaus response and I am expecting Expedia take responsibility and take customers (US) request and act on this by exceptional to manner. The customer experience was terrible from Expedia.
The property was a little bit outdated, but it’s not too bad if you’re staying within a budget and not setting your standards too high. The food was actually surprisingly good and so was the selection (Pizza, Sushi, Hotdogs, Hamburger stands as well as a breakfast lunch and dinner buffet And bars). Most of the staff were very friendly, but there’s always a few that aren’t. The beachfront is beautiful, and there were actually lots of chairs with lots of shade. I didn’t have my hopes very high after reading some of the reviews about the chairs and shade but was very impressed. There’s a convenience store inside of the hotel as well as a two minute walk away. we were able to order Uber eats to the hotel as well. The hotel was very clean and housekeeping did a great job. I had read some unfortunate reviews about bedbugs, but luckily, we did not encounter them as we checked when entering our room. there’s a fee if you lose the towel cards, room key or wristbands, but we didn’t lose anything so we didn’t have a problem. hotel is absolutely amazing for the price. if I were to come back on a budget, I would definitely do this place again.
The property scammed us with false advertisement. The room looks nothing like the photos and the front desk admitted they had not updated the photos and used a sister hotel photo. The water park passes weren't available. I dont know if the just decided to not set up for the duration of our stay but it was not even available. Wouldn't stay here again!
It's good for that price. Old building, the washroom needs renovation.
Very nice hotel, great service, easy beach access, tasty food, good drinks, overall 8 out of 10.
Everything good
For our budget, this property was doable. It is very dated, but the property was beautiful, and let's not forget, we are in Cancun on the beach! Not much variety with the food, but the drinks were great and the staff were good.
It was crowded small and not great beach space
Upon arriving to Dos Playas the staff was friendly helpful and caring. It was to our utter surprise when things took a turn toward the opposite direction. We arrived to our room and our safe was not working along with the outlets coming out of the wall and there being a whole in the drawer. None the less it wasn’t that bothersome until one of the maid staff stole $145 from our drawer because our safe was not working. When we made the complaint immediately the hotel staff said we should have made a written complaint about the safe and that “they haven’t had problems with THAT maid”. Our verbal complaint about the safe and them taking down our room number was not enough and even after we wrote the complaint about stolen money they still did not fix the safe. The hotel manager stated they only cover things that are in the safe and not in the room. The room was not clean which was strange to have stains on our bedding after the house keepers cleaned the room. When it was the end of our trip and we were checking out that day we got food in the morning before the check out time and we came back 30 min early to find out we were locked out of our room. We had to go to the staff to be able to unlock our room which took prompting and showing them the time multiple times to give us access to our room to grab our stuff. Overall, this hotel made our vacation not so good, stressful, and unpleasant.
The place is old, the food selection is limíted and of poor quality. You will have recooked leftovers for subsequent meal. You get what you pay for. Cancun is very expensive, the hotel was a teh cheapest option for an all inclusive resort in the zone.
Close enough to the airport
Resort is kept very clean. Food and drinks were very good.
Poor : food, service, entertainment
Bad hotels
Never come this hotel anymore and not recommend other. Bathroom, room everything bad condition
not for everyone
its was my birthday weekend it was next to a pier not a beach i had to switch rooms three times on my final night the toilet handle came out of toilet the door stopped working not near anything i really wanted a refund for my stay
It was my second time here love the place I will be coming back
Resort was pretty dirty and run down. Food wasn't very good. Not a great place to stay.
The property out side was good, but the rooms were not too nice, walls were not painted good the tiles on floors were crack overall i rate this about 2 rating
It's a good property. But not enough umbrellas and beds on the beach. Stuff speaks only little bit English. Some stuff was super friendly some not. To the end of vacation got a huge stomach problem till today
Play used to be condos or apartments or something of that nature. Rooms need modernizing. Food was a meal. Nothing special. Good alcohol. This resort is for day pass holders. That's what it seemed like it cater to. Walk & a half to get everywhere. 2 restaurants one serves buffet breakfast, dinner. One is supposed be like Mexican. We had the Mexican one night and it took forever to get the food. And, the tacos, was nothing special. Save your money put it to a better place.
This place is horrific. Horrible food, rooms are dirty and broken down. Do not stay here!!!!
The property is really ugly and in bad shape. The cleanliness is also poor and critical. The service is bad. Take a different choice.
The property is not easy on the eyes. Very run down and currently in the middle of construction/maintenance so lots of banging early in the morning. The room we received was nothing like the pictures shown - there's a reason there aren't many pictures of the property/amenities either. Buffet was sub-par and lacked variety for sure. They quickly ran out of everyones favorites which was disappointing. We tried reserving dinner at the other restaurant and couldn't and the buffet had such little to offer for Christmas dinner, we ate mostly brrad. I can go on for a while on all the things that disappointed us.
I don’t know where to start when it comes to rating this hotel. Dos Playas Fernado must be THE WORST resort one can stay in Cancun. There is not a single thing about this hotel that is up to the standards. Cleanness/Peacefulness – Rooms are literally filthy and smell like a pig farm. I had a king size matters and I could occupy only a 1/3 of it since laying on the other 2/3 felt like I was falling off the cliff. Shower heads were so dirty that I couldn’t look at it if I wanted to continue bathing. Towels are so old and worn that you feel like you are using a sandpaper, they have been in use for YEARS... There was a construction going on in the next room, so I couldn’t even dream of going to take a nap in my room during the day. After I saw the color of water in the pools available in the resort, I felt like running away from them as far as I could. You can tell, they haven’t been doing a decent work with maintaining clean water. Front Desk – They all need to be fired. They are all rude, cynical and will start yelling at you if you keep on persisting. This is precisely what one of the front desk attendants named Powell did when I persisted on changing the filthy room I was in. Even though Sinhue was nicer, he had absolutely no desire to help with anything I went to him for. They all keep telling you “dejame checar”, but no one really checks or does anything to accommodate your request. To Management- you really need to drain the swamp and hire staff that really care about
Property is okay. The food and amenities are poor. Its avout what you expect at a 2 star hotel.
The property is not what you expect from the pictures. The food was terrible, bland and not enough variety for an all-inclusive resort. Bad service in the restaurant. The water park does not exist and we paid for it in advance. The air conditioning was leaking and we complained for 3 days before they changed our room. My wife fell on the floor one night due to the leaking. The new room they provided had the minibar empty for the days we stayed there. We had to pay day passes at a nearby hotel to go through the week even though we paid an all inclusive fare. I would not recommend anybody to go to this place. Manager or customer service never reached out to us even though we complained and when we asked for them, we were told they were not around.
This is a nice place to stay, my daughter and I enjoyed ourselves. The only problem I had was that the telephone in the room didn’t work. But the staff are very friendly and welcoming everyone have different experience mine was good.
The only things were the pillows sucked & the lack of outlets to be able to plug our phones into. The ones that were there were very slow. Otherwise it was a beautiful stay! Way better then I thought it would be!
The beds were VERY HARD and uncomfortable and the room smelled musty and old. We checked out to locate better sleeping accommodations.
The staff was amazing. They were kind, and tried to ensure comfort.
the hotel has an excellent location its all inclusive is simple but with a lot of choice in terms of the room I did not like the structure it is not comfortable the hairdryer in the bathroom makes the room power drop. I had problems when I arrived because I had reserved a king bed and they put me in separate beds and at night the air conditioning in the room stopped, they took a long time to direct us to another room only at 12am we went to the 2nd room when we got there the same had a very strong smell of paint and again we were directed to the 3rd bedroom in which we stayed there. There were three of us, my husband and my 19-month-old baby, imagine our tiredness in the face of this change of room. The hotel is very different from the expedia photos. The lack of maintenance in the building is remarkable as everything is very old. I just didn't get angry anymore because I used the hotel just to sleep and have breakfast and even then it wasn't as comfortable as I expected.
The room didn't have hot water, there was a water leak in the sink, we asked to be switched and other two people were asking the same. The food is disgusting. They absolutely do not refund the money even if yiu cant stay therw because the room is nasty! Worse place ever
The property is not what you see in the ads on Expedia, the all inclusive is a waste of money as the food options are very limited. The “main” staff is rude and unfriendly. I called the front desk daily about the internet not working in my room so the smart tv didn’t work either, we had a rain storm one night which caused it to rain in my room I called because my room was flooded and wanted to moved and was told to put towels down to dry it up. Went for a special occasion for my wife 40th bday arranged a celebration the hotel forgot about it reminded them the night before about getting a cake for it and instead a dinner dessert showed up that I had to call for again extremely disappointed
The people are extremely friendly and the grounds are gorgeous. We had an inexpensive room so it was pretty generic but that's what we paid for. The buffet was the only complaint. It wasn't that great but the cappuccinos were amazing! We really loved how they have us recycle cups.
Good staff, decent food
Not worth it
They made me wait for early check in, they don’t have enough staff to clean rooms, restaurants serve the same food “EVERYDAY”, they never change the menu, and restaurants are not open all the time, only 1 main restaurant, the other ones they have don’t have variety of food, they offer transportation services and COVID tests services but when you ask for them, they ask you to call other people directly, they don’t take responsabilities for anything, my safety box was not working properly and had to wait 2 times like an hour to get it fixed. The amount I paid for me is not worth it, this is a 2 star hotel… would never stay here again.
The manager or housekeeping stole from my room and protected each other in their lies because they knew I couldnt do anything. Literally starved 5 days of my vacation because the ‘all inclusive food’ was so disgusting, sometimes just walking into the Restaurants on the resort made me nauseous. They legit had flies and bugs in the food with nothing to cover it down. Just gross.
The staff was not very helpful and to many did not speakEnglish housekeeping made to much noise from 10 am to 6 pm the beds were hard and the food was not good if you are looking for a place to relax and and eat good food this is not the one go somewhereelse
i enjoy everything . it was my first vacation booking and it was good .

Our trip to Cancun once again was terrific! This hotel has a very friendly staff very clean and very affordable. We will be staying here again next year - this will be our third time at this hotel. I do not recommend Economy Car /or American Car Rental (same business) as they were to pick us up at the airport to deliver us to our rental van. After 2 hours of waiting they finally sent a car to pick us up, after arriving at the car rental place they had no vehicle for us and it was paid for two months prior to our arrival. They said the van I had rented was given to someone else and maybe we could get it on Tuesday. We decided cancel the rental and we were charged 150$ American dollars for their error! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! We’re disappointed not only with the rental shop but also with Expedia! They had not paid the rental shop yet for our reservation! Chaos! BUT…. We made the best of our 14 day holiday and used city transit!
