Lovely venue for family holiday. Gorgeous rooms. Lovely staff. Piccolo restaurant is wonderful. Brasserie food is nice, perhaps menu coud be a bit more varied? Clean. Beds were so comfortable. Quiet at night. Lovely residents lounge. Fun arcades in Glen's Den. Adventure park about 20min walk or hotel train ride away. Adventure passes a little pricey at £15 each for adventure park but if you have wee ones who will play away for hours you can enjoy cuppa on Basecamp. Activity passes £35 but if you only want to do one activity you can't just pay that, so £35 seems a little expensive unless you are going to be doing lots of activities, then it is a great deal. Wonderful oveall. Would recommend.
Really enjoyed both days but cooked breakfast on first morning was disapointing due to volume of guests.
Great Stay
Great stay, beautiful surroundings. A lot of the main hotel looks a bit tired however with lots of scaffolding up we could see that there are refurbishments underway. Staff were excellent and the food was delicious!
Went there for my daughter’s 9th birthday. The staff made a big deal about her while she was there and made it extra special for her, particularly Hannah in the Piccolo restaurant and Danielle in the Brasserie.
What a total disappointment!
For a hotel that is marketed as a premium facility, it is far from it in every sense. Started with a poor check in experience where the staff member didn’t even tell us how to get to our room, where to go for breakfast or any of the usual bits. They were more interested in speaking with the bellhop ranting about how the cleaning staff had went AWOL. We went to the restaurant for dinner. It looked worse than a Brewers Fayre and the chicken gyros I ordered were not safe for consumption. Also note they add a tip on which wasn’t on the restaurant receipt however did appear on the bill back to the room. The “Victorian baths” are the biggest scam at £25 per person, only for it to be a basement pool, which looks like the tiles surrounding it hadn’t been cleaned for a very long time. The walls are painted by what looks like a children’s decorator to look like a Victorian setting however looks like a cheap pan to set, with the ceiling peeling. The room was a kind to what I would expect an old fashioned hospital to look like and don’t get me started on the unsanitary shower curtain……..if I knew the room had a shower curtain I would never have booked. Overall: avoid, save your time, money and effort, stay at one of the many better hotels in Scotland at better value & experience
Alright
Hotel was ok. Food menu was uninspired, made claims of using local ingredients which were dubious at best. Understand they have an ongoing major refurb so understandable that not everything is 100% but food, particularly breakfast was a big disappointment. In room, no water and empty mini bar (fridge on). No way to order breakfast to room but other guests appeared to have done so as there were empty trays outside late in to the afternoon. Will return after refurb is completed
Good
Renovated restaurant will make it much better. Adults dining area needed. Spa excellent
Wish had been told about renovations going on when booked.
The only spoiler for us was that due to an old fusebox, all the plug sockets kept tripping leaving no power to charge our devices or for using hairdryer/straighteners etc. Otherwise a lovely hotel and friendly staff.
Great company, disappointing food and service
Booked on the 13th October, To have a room close to reception and it was the furthest away room. For our father who has mobility issues this was poor service. We requested an executive twin for him and the room was made up as a king. We were offered to split the bed however, we said not to bother. On our first evening, We ate at the brasserie in the terraces having pre ordered for 14 people the service was really poor and slow, some of the party ordered red wine and waited over 30 mins for this to arrive, by this time they were almost finished their meal. Food was not hot, two of us had steak and fries which was apparently a 6oz sirloin, However this was clearly a minute steak, which had no garnish and for £21 is quite disappointing. Restaurant was very busy on the night , However, floor staff did not seem to be getting much direction from management. Later that evening, We were in the make shift bar/ residents lounge, couldn't get Cocktails, no Draught Beer and no Diet coke, Barmen advised us to go get some from the terrace bar, which by this point was closed. When we asked the bar person could you not go get some, he simply replied no! This is a limited bar. This was the only bar open after 9pm!! We just felt that if you are going to be renovating the Hotel, perhaps it would have been good to let us know and at the very least fully stock the bar! Overall, we did have great company which made our weekend, standards of service need to be improved
Don’t book here till work is finished.
Left a day early. Hotel is in meltdown with no access to main dinning room or winter gardens. Large parts of the hotel disrupted and no warning prior to arriving and booking.
It is a beautiful property, with friendly, chatty and interested staff. When we stayed there was lovely Christmas family experiences, lots of family groups, disco and games in the evening, Santa visited all very exciting. In the midst of this were several adult guests who seemed to be forgotten. Although there was an adults only bar.,....right beside the children's party. I adore children but had hoped to have a relaxing and calm pre Christmas break which didn't happen. It would have been nice if a comfortable quiet room was made available for those guests who stayed without children. Otherwise it was a lovely stay.
Expensive and not value for money. We won't return
Overall our stay was disappointing. pleasant reception staff on check in though Our part of the hotel was notably dated, this was mainly evident in the room and old glazed windows had a lot of condensation on them with mould all along the curtains on both windows was very off putting for us. The room was pretty cold and drafty with the bathroom floor extremely cold. Room furnishings were dark and dated. We did have a comfortable sleep in a spacious, comfortable bed. We had a meal on our 1st night stay, this was a table of 8 and we had great food however the service was absolutely terrible, we had a long wait to then be presented with 80% of the mains and then the server went to another table to give a birthday cake, we then waited to get their attention as we had ordered starters which had not been served and now we were sat with 80% of the main meals so i personally found this very frustrating as it is not a cheap experience, the quality of the food was very good however or i would have refused to pay for the meal, i am genuinely not someone to complain and find it very uncomfortable but following the meal and discussion with others I'm left very unsatisfied. Overall we spent a large amount on a 2 night stay and a large meal which we invited some other guests to attend. I will not be looking to return and actually feel quite disappointed with the overall experience after looking forward to a pre Christmas family experience but it just did not come close to expectation.
Very satisfied
Very satisfied. Would love to return.
Every member of the team from the minuet we arrived were fantastic! The facilities are amazing, my little one had a ball! We will definitely be back!
We came to town for a wedding and stayed at the Crieff Hydro based on recommendations and it was average in almost all respects. Rooms were clean and spacious, but nothing spectacular. I wish I would have spent less for accommodations in town that were probably just as good if not better. This seems like the kind of place you would go with children. Be sure to book transportation well in advance. Otherwise you’ll be stuck. The real disappointment, though, was the staff at the reception desk. Almost no one was willing to help with simple requests, and sometimes the answer to things like “what time does the spa open” was “I don’t know.”Later in the evening one night, when food options were slim, we were told there was a vending machine on the hotel. So we went searching, only to learn that the only vending machine was in a part of the hotel that was closed. We needed help with several things while in town and were largely left to fend for ourselves. The only helpful person was a housekeeper who opened our safe for us when it malfunctioned. We wouldn’t come back.
Lovely walks form the door. Excellent swimming pool. Very quiet room.
I love the ambience
Excellent location, very relaxing even although it was school holidays! Staff so attentive in all areas. Felt very chilled and not wanting to leave.
Not as expected
Very disappointed for the price .. the tv in the room is smaller then my monitor and didn’t work.. the reception sent someone up to fix it but even he couldn’t so we couldn’t even have a chilled evening .. the queue at breakfast is far to long so we left without having breakfast and the room was cold at night
Room was clean, tidy, very quiet and peaceful. The lovely view of the hills from the room was a great bonus as well. Although I didn't have enough time to use most of the facilities here there is plenty to do to keep you occupied. Breakfast was a nice affair, nice big room with views outside. Food wise there was fruit, lots of Cereals etc. Cooked breakfast food quality was excellent and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. There is also Croissants, Pastries, Pancakes, toast etc if your not into big breakfasts. There's various restaurants and bars to suit different tastes as well. I noticed lots of young families as well so it caters for most people. I found staff to be helpful and friendly, in my opinion this is what can make or break an experience with a hotel. Bear in mind if you're a bit fussy this is a huge old Victorian building it has its quirks and faded bits etc. There is lifts for the various floors for disabled access and a disabled entrance at the reception. To keep this place up to standard must be very tough indeed for the owners. But overall I found it nice inside and enjoyed my time here. I hope to go back here again with the next 6 months but for a bit longer this time. Recommend
On check in I was told I had not paid for the reservation when I insisted I had. They insisted they take full payment again until I had proof. On finding my statement I asked them to refund the over payment. I was told I should wait until I checked out 2 days later. I insisted they make the refund to be told it often takes 5 days to make the refund. It also took 4 attempts to get them to fix my cold shower. I
Fantastic relaxing stay. 2nd time here and it was fabulous again. We’ll be back
-
Great place for everyone
Great stay, excellent facilities
Food was amazing
Lovely experience. Will definetly be back.
I sent an email ahead of my stay requesting a seat for the shower as I am a wheelchair user. I had to request again on arrival, the chair was provided but it was impossible to close the shower door. A smaller seat would have worked. I have no complaints on any other amenities and staff were very nice. Just such a simple thing can make the weekend less of a problem re the wheelchair use.
Brilliant! We had the best time with out daughter who is 4. So much to do!
Easy to drop family and luggage at front of hotel and parking not far away. Both children (6 3) enjoyed Big Crunchie (Big Country, but hard to say when you're 3!) This 2hr childcare is fab and enabled us to go to the Victorian Spa and have a few moments to actually read a book! BEWARE: you need to book your holiday directly through the hotel to get this free. If you book through a 3rd party, eg Expedia then it's £15 per child per session. Entertainment at night was good, our kids loved disco, bingo and magician whilst we were there. We also played tennis, had fun in the play park and had a lead-rein walk. Breakfast was good, very busy. You really do need to book everything in advance though. Splash times are very busy (fab inflatable slide) but go outwith these times and it's much more pleasant!
Crieff Hydro
Went to Crieff Hydro for the first time this weekend. We are a couple in our 50s and had a fantastic time. The hotel and amenities far exceeded our expectations. Drinks on the terrace, dinner in the Meikle restaurant and at the nearby sister hotel the Murraypark which were both excellent. After dinner drinks in the piano bar finishe both evenings off nicely before retiring to the comfort of our room which was clean, comfortable and well appointed. We enjoyed the Victorian baths, putting, walks and watching all the children and families enjoying the activities. Breakfast was amazing! We plan a return soon with our adult children and partners. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing break with a host of activities available to keep you entertained or places to just chill. Also a walk into the town of Crieff is a must, lovely little shops to browse and buy some amazing local produce
good stay for short spa break adult alone
Need a review of the oversight of breakfast, sitting and clearing to avoid queues.
Great place for a family holiday! We had a great time in the pool and gym. Kids play zones look great!
Mildly disappointing but with redeeming qualities
Not obvious when we booked that the Victorian Spa was not included-thanks to staff for managing to get us in at relatively short notice but the time was not ideal so book in advance to avoid disappointment. Hotel is huge with multiple places to eat and drink, but again, book in advance to get the venue and time you want as it does get very busy. Room had a lovely view, but was a little tired and for a “feature room” it was a little bit disappointing. In fact, a lot of things were just a little bit below par; fruit at breakfast was in syrup not fresh, not all areas have a lift so we had to carry bags up steps and down a long corridor, I had to move furniture in the room to access wall sockets, the kettle was hidden in a drawer. But, the Victorian Baths were amazing, the food in The Terrace/Piccolo was fantastic, and the staff were fabulous Overall, good but not great
Everything excellent particularly Elli in Reception ☀️☀️☀️☀️
Everything was good, apart from the food in the Terrace restaurant which was overpriced and not of the corresponding quality
Stay just what you would expect for this location. Good
Enjoyed a special birthday here , great facilities and lovely scenery.
Great stay
We had a great stay to celebrate my partners 40th and there was so much on offer to keep our little one occupied. The swimming pool was great with plenty of swimming sessions available throughout the day and the sauna and steam room were also a welcome surprise as we could not book the Victorian Baths as we had our daughter with us. We had considered using the big country childcare but the times never synced in with the times for the Victorian baths or any of the adult activities which is a bit disappointing and would be so much better if you could attend a session during the two hour childcare slot. Adventure Glen, Glens Den, the pony riding and family fun in the Melville were all brilliant my only criticism is how much you need to pay for after a costly booking. Thankfully on our visit the adventure playground was free access but bear in mind if you attend at peak times there is a charge for adults and children. My overall disappointment was the night time entertainment for the kids being cancelled by management due to the hotel not being overly busy. There was still kids on site and it would have been nice to have something to do with them after dinner, even a mini disco but there was nothing although before we came there was a full schedule planned including magic show and it was cancelled once we arrived. I did find the hotel very cold but the food was good. We will definitely return but at a busier time to take advantage of the whole experience.
Recharging after Xmas!!
Xmas decorations still up and hotel looked amazing!! We always have a plate of soup in the winter garden when we arrive, the choice of sandwiches cakes home baked is amazing. Check in was done on line. My husband did a lot of walking as the scenery is stunning. He used the Victorian spa but there is a charge of £25 for a session. Dinner in the Terrace bar most nights , we ate at the Murraypark one night as the hotel was full. Most relaxing few days for a long time.
Breakfast disappointing, but that’s buffet breakfasts for you
10/10 for the Victorian Baths
The hotel was incredible and had a never ending list of activities to enjoy. The Victorian baths were the highlight of the trip! (Keep in mind they are an extra £25 per session)
Two night break
First time staying at Crieff Hydro Hotel. Overall hotel is in great shape. Reception staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Dinner in Meikle restaurant was ok, starter was over chilled. Had to send main meal back as it wasn’t very hot. Second attempt better but wonder if kitchens were a long way from restaurant. Good meal in Terrace on our second night although Staff there could do with some extra training. Beautiful setting and lots to do. Will definitely be back.
Service poor. Hotel difficult to find your way around
Definitely a family forward hotel. Rooms looked to be renovated in the 80’s with electronics from the 90’s. Furniture was worn out and dirty. If you’re accustomed to Nespresso and Netflix in the rooms, this is not the hotel for you. The hallways are busy and noisy with families on route to the pool and other kid attractions. Rooms are motel grade 3 star at best.
It was a good base for us to visit different places in the area. A hearty breakfast was included which set each day up perfectly.
Great hotel , with a lot to offer . The room was very comfortable if only a little small.
Poor start when we were given rooms on different floors after being assured by email that we had connecting rooms. Door locks were changed while we were out! No warning given, poor customer service.
Excellent stay
Faded glamour
Was a so-so stay. Most of the staff were friendly but the place is just far far too big. Breakfast buffet is a mad blur of people and there are few adult only areas, 1 small bar basically. Room was OK but kind of tired, rooms very warm too and no A/C
Style over substance
Mixed up the rooms. Poor service. Expensive. Stile over substance.
Breakfast great Dinner terrible staff not very friendly or helpful
Room was fine and staff all friendly and helpful. Let downs were quality of food and frozen calamari and tinned olives don’t match the prices. Pasta was not fresh and the tomato sauce had no flavour. Not worth the prices charged. Secondly, when paying £200 for a room I don’t expect to pay an additional £50 to use the adults only swimming pool (Victorian baths).
To be honest, there were a lot of young families with children who were not always supervised.
Plenty activities and space to chill.
Relaxing stay
Relaxing however room would have benefitted from air con. Had to requst fan for room as too hot. Weather was wonderful. Communal areas benefitted from air con thankfully. Room & some areas a bit tired. Staff in Winter garden restaurant on top of cleaning flooring when needed but same can't be said for Picollo restaurant. Food was excellent in all restaurants with exception of breakfast. Cooked breakfast was barely warm. Plates almost cold so food went cold very quickly. Black pudding - more suited to clay pigeon shooting. Thankfully cold options were plentiful & there was a great selection. Breakfast at 9am each day so no excuse for poor quality of "hot" food! Spa treatments were excellent and staff were absolutely wonderful. Claire was really nice doing a leg & foot massage for husband. Tracy was absolutely wonderful. Had a full aromatherapy massage plus pedicure and it was excellent. Overall a very pleasant stay.
No return for us unfortunately.
It was ok. Disappointed that even after paying almost £300 for a room we were not able to get a booking for dinner. Due to this and having to book everything it took the relaxation out of the stay. Not returning guests unfortunately for us.
Disappointed stay
Was very disappointing as a lot of the hotel was closed to users especially area that we enjoyed staying previously. There was no cosy areas to enjoy a quiet drink and the winter garden closed at 4.30 and we were asked to leave when we went there for a drink. We had the Indian meal again in the winter garden there was no atmosphere and the meal was not enjoyable tasted as if it was out of a jar. Although the pool was empty again we needed to leave after an hour. When we went to base camp I was horrified to see it cost £11.50 for a child to play in a park. We used to go to the hotel with our 6 children when they were you and to be honest we would never have been able to afford for them to participate in this activity if it had been there them. I now have 15 grandchildren but I would not be recommending this hotel to their parents it just costs too much money to ensure the children were able to participate what is on offer. Overall disappointing and expensive for what is on offer. Could not even get a cocktail in the winter garden and there was nowhere open to get a drink once we came out from watching the 8.15 movie everything was getting cleaned up and closing
Short family break
Great selection of activities during the day, however very expensive for family? Would like to have seen more price deals for family ticket rather than full prices for 8-10 year olds. Seemed to accommodate for really young kids under 6, the for 12+ but not much for 7-12 age group. Hotel is looking a bit tired. Staff and service though is excellent and good swimming pool area. Be nicer to have more swim times available rather than 1hr per day slot. Glad we went to experience it, though for the money I don’t think we will be back.
I went there with my friends and it was i very pleasant experience. will come back for sure
Pleasant stay but a few improvements
Went for a family birthday. Stay was pleasant overall however some things could be improved. For example, we were unable to reserve any activities on the website, we highlighted this at check-in and apparently staff are aware of this but nothing on website to say this so we missed out on lots of activities. Another example is when we went for dinner, we asked a couple of questions about some of the main courses, the server didn’t know the answers as we asked her to find out and she didn’t. She then came and asked if she’d taken our order so waited 1 hour for our food. We fed back the burger was very dry and didn’t eat it and she said she would mention this but we were told at payment there was no feedback put through regarding this however the manager deducted this from the bill. At check out staff didn’t taken any notice of the queue and just let people skip until we said there was a queue. We were told we had to pay the balance of the rooms even although we had paid upfront. With a few training sessions these types of things could be resolved.
1.5 hours for check in …
Overall was a good stay, spacious, lots of activities. However check in online tells you 3pm , we weren’t checked in til 4:30pm. Big impact being the first experience at the hotel. Room not spotless, service: hit or a miss.
Had a great weekend here. Loved every minute of it but it is important to book activities as they fill up quickly. Activities are a bit expensive.
Lovely friendly staff. Nice relaxed informal atmosphere. Great room. Only complaint was the music in The Terrace restaurant, was both awful and too loud and ruined the whole ambience of the restaurant, food good though.
Enjoyed our stay
Perfectly comfortable stay. Room was nice with lovely view. Everything could be popped on room bill which was convenient.
Plenty of space, nice corners to sit and relax. Everything under 1 roof.
...
Hugely Disappointed and wont stay again
Awful. Stayed in room 56. Chairs were worn. Room 58 wallpaper was old, tired and peeling edges. Check in was appalling. Senior receptionist was patronising and duty manager unhelpful. Booking system for pool and breakfasr meant stay was regimented and not leisurely. Shania on receptionist was helpful. Breakfast and dinner in main restaurant was nice. Sports hub service was appalling. Dirty cutlery staff were unhelpful. Never even came to our table.
Family focused hotel but not right for all
Was really looking forward to staying at Crieff Hydro believing it to be a more affordable Gleneagles. Sadly it was more of an upmarket Butlins. Clearly the hotel struggled to cope with the large number of customers and standards, particularly cleanliness in the dining room, had been allowed to slip. However, our room was warm and comfortable and there was much on offer as entertainment for families. Just wasn’t right for a middle age couple.
Good value for money. Hotel only lacked a place for adults to quietly socialize in the evening eg a bar or lounge.
Helpful staff, lovely location.
Helpful, friendly staff. Rooms comfortable. Breakfast advertised on site as from 7am, however in reality 7.30am is the earliest booking time - not helpful for working guests.
Pretty disappointed by the service
The hotel has retained Victorian features which is nice. I felt the parkings could be improved by having a drive in and drive out system. At present, if all spaces are occupied, one has to reverse in order to get out.
Stay was excellent. Visited The Hydro many times not to be able to swim was disappointing. They said due to Covid which is unheard of in other swimming pools now. Will be informing other friends of the situation with Spa facilities. To book in advance is not an option when trying to plan your day due to weather. Will be checking other hotels in the area in future.
Short Break with the family
Great short break with the family. Brilliant service and lots to keep the kids entertained.
Excellent stay
Amazing place, excellent set up with so much to do for the kids. Relaxing for the adults. The only frustration was the lack of available slots at the swimming
Cracking Crieff
Lovely, helpful staff. So much choice.
Was almost like a room that they’d forgotten about.
Food was not Great had Dinner and Breakfast was all over cooked
Short stay
This is a decent hotel with great facilities. Decor is tired though and could be doing with an upgrade.
Best stay ever.
Myself and partner stayed for the weekend and couldnt have had a better time. We got engaged and the hotel staff were absolutely fantastic. Apon arrive i infomred Elisa the reception manager that we had just got engaged. She bumped us to a room with a stunning. She also phoned and booked us dinner at the Murray Park hotel for dinner. Which was out of this world. We alsk received champagne to our room. I would like to thank all the staff that made our stay thar extra special. Cannot wait to come back.
The loud hideous music from the entertainment that took over the whole hotel was out of tune, too loud , in your face crass ! It would have been better to stay at butlins ! The ambience of the restuarant was totally ruined and people were all talking about it ! We left the restuarant it was overpowering ad only one word to describe it as ridiculous ! When we left the so called entertainer was singing out of tune with his mic turned on high so he could impact the whole hotel his audience were two hours g children under the age of 5 and their grandmother watching them ! This ruined our holiday ! As when we spoke to the staff in tiffin asking them how they coped they just said it was awful but no one will do anything about it ! Please sort this it’s destroying your reputation as ufsir on paying guests ! I spoke to the duty manager who agreed with all my comments ! Come in general manager / owners stop this awful intrusion of peoples dining experience and bring class back to what is a beautiful hotel ! Agadoo and the birdy song do not go down well at the Crieff hydro !
Perfect short break !
We were a group of 4 nurses enjoying a 2 night stay on a bed & breakfast basis. Our room was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. Loved the choice of restaurants and the food was exceptional. The breakfast was very good with an excellent choice of food. We used the spa and had booked for 2 hours in the afternoon, it was a bit busier than we anticipated and couldn’t get a lounger for the first hour, as we had paid £20 that was disappointing. However the facilities were great. We did enjoy the cinema in the evening and it was a pleasant surprise to find they were running a current movie. No problem getting a seat as there was only one other couple in at the same time. The outdoor facilities were excellent with a good range of activities to suit everyone. The grounds and garden were beautiful and the views were fantastic. The staff were all without exception very friendly and helpful. All in all we had a fantastic break and will definitely be back.
Plenty of activities and helpful staff
Nothing amazing
Check in was poor no information was given I had to ask about everything. I got the same person at check out they said little and never asked anything about our stay. Breakfast was also disappointing the hot food was pretty tasteless. As for the hotel the room rate is too high for a pretty tired place in much need of upgrading. The family room was ok but not very clean with hair in the bath and fingerprints aplenty. Overall no better than disappointing to ok and we probably won't return until improvements are made.
Check in was diabolical. Room wasn’t ready until 4:40pm when we were told check in was 3pm. Staff were rude and unhelpful. Lots of dissatisfied guests sitting in the lobby waiting for their rooms to be ready. Booking for absolutely everything is an issue. No appropriate times left for breakfast or swimming. The hotel has obviously kept this measure for their own convenience instead of returning to normal once COVID measures have been lifted.
Lovely venue , lot to do and see on site
Very mixed views on this my third visit some wonderful helpful staff and some grumpy, could not be bothered staff. Rooms are still tired and dated despite being told mine was recently refurbished
There was nothing wrong in any with with our two night stay here.
It was a great stay. The only hotel in Scotland that caters so well for families. Children loved the whole experience.
Wasn't room we had booked on site plus on arrival at hotel went to get coffee before we checked in restaurant wasn't clean at all. Room was fine until next morning when work men started to remove door in the next door room which was store room. We were there for relaxing supposed to be chill out couple of days as we have just not that long buried our dad. So chilling out in wrong room didn't help in any way. So not a good couple of days. Hotel is needing to pay more attention to high up areas in hall ways and other areas cornice work plus fire alarm boxes not just dusty but very dirty. Hall way out side our room wasn't hoovered in time we were there as took photo of floor and piece of dirt there for 2 days. Plus cancelled our spa treatment because partner not feeling so well. Wasn't the treat I had in mind for her. Dirty hotel wrong room. Noise because of workmen right next door. Overall not good.
Nice to be back. Staff very professional and friendly and a pleasure to stay there
Beautiful property in a lovely setting. If you havent been before, its all a bit overwhelming as its so big. Staff at front desk were welcoming enough but we had to seek out information about our activities and where to go for them. It was a bit disjointed and we were very much left to find things out. Food was good but service during evening meal was poor, we were sat amongst uncleared tables, despite guests leaving as we got there. The dining room staff seemed overwhelmed, with staff not being lead or managed appropriately by senior staff.
Lovely hotel
Lovely hotel, friendly reception staff. Some staff didn’t really interact but most were great. Entertainment in the evening wasn’t great for couples as lots of children running around and playing football in the bar areas! Sadly no information in the rooms ie telephone numbers for room service, spa or reception etc. We paid for a room with a fridge which wasn’t there so had to ask for one, also there was supposed to have been a DVD player (not that we wanted to use it - but not in the room.) Excellent breakfast each morning, lots to choose from and catered for gluten free - albeit limited. The Terrace restaurant has a good selection, but again limited for gluten free and intolerances with little flexibility. Alcohol prices were reasonable. The Victorian Spa was lovely and very clean. The hotel grounds are amazing too. We didn’t partake in the organised activities as it was half term so very busy.
Great hotel located in beautiful surroundings
Family Trip
My son loved the adventure play area the most. We enjoyed crazy golf, trampolining, climbing and much more. The swimming pool was also good, however 45 minutes was a little shorter than we would have liked.
