Nice property!

We had limited time at this beautiful resort so only have a nights stay to rate. Great breakfast for purchase but was great for us needing to leave early. We were given a handicap room which was wonderful - large space! The only downside was the shower. It is a huge area with odd setup - by the time I had showered and washed hair there was water all in the actual bathroom (there is no edge to accomade a wheelchair) and all the way out to front door and hallway. There has to be a better system. Based on the door sticking this was not the first time it has happened. Parking was easy for those traveling via car.

Staff were wonderful except the pool attendant who was obsessed that we couldn’t use our towels, and only use pool towels as they had to be all the same! All other staff amazing and the breakfast was fresh and fabulous choice. Room perfect!would stay again

Spent a few days all inclusive at Barceló Marbella. We had a lovely time. Hotel was nice, food in restaurant was good and thankfully it wasn’t a rugby scrum to get the food! Branded spirits served at the bars. A nice pool. Staff were friendly and helpful. A great place to go to relax and enjoy the sun!

Very friendly staff and clean hotel. Our daughter has some food allergies and the chiefs did everything they could to find food for her. Thumbs up.

Resort is very nice and well worth the price. Pool area is beautiful (kids didn’t want to leave!) with plenty of sun lounges. Food served at the pool-area restaurant is a little below average (stick with the pizzas a burgers), but the food and drink are reasonably prices. Breakfast, however, is great. Delicious fresh juices, fruit, charcuterie, cheeses, eggs, bacon, etc., with seating indoors and outdoors. It’s about a 15-20 minute car ride to downtown Marbella (don’t try to drive and park. If you’re renting a car the parking garage will fit most vehicles without worry. Definitely a place to stay - if we come back to Marbella we will definitely consider returning to Barceló.

Well located and easy to access all nearby hot places, such as Puerto Banus, Marbella and Minalva

Nice hotel, small but quiet. Great pool. It's away from the beach, but a shirt taxi ride ($10 Euro). Food and drinks were good. Families using the pool, but wasnt crowded or loud. Lovely holiday.

Limit Your Expectations. Great Staff Though.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, but the property is dated, and the air conditioning did not work during the two nights of our stay. We didn't explore the property. Our room was a very good size, so was the bathroom, but without functioning AC, it was hard to enjoy.

Reception staff not friendly. Rooms were not clean hair in sink and Pringle crisp on floor with ants all over it. Bar staff were nice and friendly and food for breakfast was exceptional.

Georgeous Marbella

Beautiful hotel located no more than a10 minutes drive from Puerto Banus.

We have stayed at a Barcelo previously and expected the same type of property. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. I will highlight that the staff was exceptional and did their best. However, it was very apparent that the management has not put any money into this property based upon our room and the amenities. For example, my wife and I asked for a tissue box or tissues, and we were told to use toilet paper. I am not sure if the room was given to us because we booked through Expedia and that other rooms which seem to have been renovated were better. Bottom line was this hotel needs significant improvements to reach 3 star.

The property was quiet and the pool area was nice. The room was big and comfortable. Check-in was very easy.

Only problem. The ceiling fan was not working. The balcony door lock was broken so no security The walk in shower was just a trickle no pressure. Apart from the above hotel was good

This hotel was just what i wanted. The staff are so friendly and the hotel is very clean. Rooms are spacious and beds are comfy. Food is good, there was always a wide choice at breakfast & lunch. It’s about a 20-25 mins walk to the nearest supermarket but taxi’s/bolts/Ubers are easy to get

The hotel was very nice and quiet, beautiful property, and great food. I could park my motorbike in the parking garage overnight. Ana was extremely helpful at the front desk with anything I needed. A+ Buy Bien!

2 night break.

Enjoyed the hotel but our check in had us waiting 1hr 40 mins as the room wasn't ready. Paid for evening meal and as the hotel was quiet it was a set menu and not buffet as advertised,First night ok but the second the main meal was a €1 empanada that wouldn't feed a young child. Overall everything else was good except these few issues. Parking expensive considering it's not in a town or centre.

Excellent hotel and amenities and the buffet lunch was exceptional and the receptionists were very polite and helpful.

Fun in the Sun

Rooms were spacious, but small thing was the tea and coffee in the room was not replenished. Buffet breakfast was excellent, and we could replenish the tea etc from there. Pool and bar were great, although slightly strange timings. Pool didn't open till 11am and closed at 7pm We had a car, and I think this is essential in this area. Looking forward to going back again in a few weeks!

Great hotel - definitely recommended

Very nice, large hotel which is extremely clean throughout. The service was very good in reception, the restaurant and the bar. The hotel is quite isolated which is my onlynegative; we had a car butif you don't, then it really has very little close by. Even the nearest restaurants are about a 25 minute walk. In all other respects, a fantastic hotel.

This is a 4 star plus hotel, and while the building is decent but not stunning the service, excellent food a value for money means for me it more than earns the extra half a star, we had a fabulous view of the mountains from our balcony as well so very happy with the location too. Note to other travelers you need a car for this hotel, which is great for us.

Ok, not great

Not inexpensive for a mid-range hotel. Room size is generous but sparsely furnished. Dont’ expect any thrills. The breakfast is good and offers many choices, even if the products are not upscale. The general feel is that of an entry-level club med, but that is due more to some of the guests than the hotel Itself. A special note about the ladies at the reception desk. They do check-in, check-out, concierge,etc...with efficiency and smile.

The property needs a make over in some parts. My bathroom floor was not cleaned during my stay there as some body oil drops I spilled was not swept away. I left lights on so the cleaning lady would see the non working bulb but that was not changed. They should put rubber feet on terrace furniture as the noice is very enjoying when people shuffle them around especially during the night. Otherwise staff pleasant and situated in a good area.

Unhappy with reception staff - unhelpful and disinterested. On arrival I enquired about a quiet room and was assured that I was given one, after two sleepless nights and numerous complaints they reluctantly agreed to move us!! The bar and pool staff were excellent - but I feel the hotel management should have a good look at the check in procedures

Great Hotel set in a lovely location. Only 5 minutes in a cab into Puerto Banus. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and can honestly say the food was fantastic. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. Would definite return.

Excellent hotel, good location, not far from beach, town of San Pedro, Puerto Banus. Next door to Guadalmina golf club. Not sure why they serve concentrated orange juice at breakfast when pure orange juice is €1 for 2 litres in supermarket. That's the only negative comment I can make about an excellent hotel.

Likes - The hotel was beautiful. There was a wide variety of food at breakfast and dinner. The show cooking was very good as it could each how your meat/fish was cooked. Dislikes- I would have expected drinking water to be replenished in the bedroom every day and to be available on request without having to pay for this. Every other 4 Star hotel I have been to this has been available at b&b or half board hotels

Comfortable beds, great food, overall a very pleasant stay.

The property was excellent value for money. The breakfasts were first rate.

Very little to dislike but pool was closed so amenities were limited perhaps being "off season".Fab breakfasts and meals and a great bar.Prices very reasonable too.Great for golfers and those with a car or those just wanting to stay put!!

Nice place to stay for a family.

Microwave available 24/7 was useful to sterilise baby bottles. A kettle would have been nice. A few more veggie options in the buffet would be good also. Other than that, great place to stay.

Lovely hotel, close to San Pedro, shops. You need a car to get around though and on-site parking is 15 euros a night. Lovely comfy bed and nice big rooms.

Lovely hotel

From beginning to end this was a lovely holiday. Clean comfortable spacious rooms and a lovely balcony over looking the pool. We upgraded to all inclusive at check in and it was fantastic value, you need to ask for the snack bar menu (all of which was lovely and freshly cooked). The restaurant food was great and the show cooking was always nice, we were often at the restaurant towards the end of service but there was still plenty of fresh food out and being brought out. Service in the bar was quick and the entertainment staff were great if you wanted to join in. Parking was supposed to be 15 euros per day but the reception staff reduced this to 10 so its worth asking. Location wise you can walk to San Pedro Ancantara for its bars and restaurants and kids play areas and the beach is not far with its great beach clubs if you do not want to go to Puerto Banus or Marbella.

Great hotel they really care

Fantasy stay. Room so comfortable and relaxing. Food at breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Quality of produce was outstanding. Such good value for money. No faults but I’d like to see better coffee and the gym whilst alright could be improved. Can’t wait to go back.

Great, I'd do it again.

Very nice hotel in Guadalmina, about 15km from Marbella. The facility was a bit dated but still in great conditions. Very nice pool, friendly staff, good and convenient parking. The hotel cared to organise daily evening activities for families and kids. Good breakfast, but dining options in the hotel were a bit limited: a quite unremarkable dinner buffet on the breakfast, and a separate restaurant with a good ambience but short and simple menu. Not the place to try Spanish cuisine. Great experience overall.

Several problems with de air conditioning in our two rooms reserved. The Hotel don’t have a bell boy to help with the suitcases. The Hotel don’t have security personal. Also, the man Pedro in the Reception was very rude.

Appalling service, definitely not 4 star

The room appeared nice and comfortable initially until the second day when we had water leaking through the ceiling. We were told that an engineer would investigate and then fix the problem for us. The engineer didn't turn up until at least an hour after reporting the issue, and then spent 15 minutes in the room 'fixing' the leak. Returning to the room later we were faced with another leak in a different location. A second time we were advised that the leak would be fixed, but we requested to change rooms for fear that our personal belongings might be ruined. Initially I was advised that we could swap rooms but that there were no other deluxe rooms available; we could only move to a standard room. Upon returning to reception with my fiancée I was then advised by another member of staff that the hotel was full. We had to demand that we could stay in a different room with no water leaking through the ceiling. The staff were rude throughout this process. More generally, the hotel was understaffed with an average 15 minute wait to speak to a member of staff at reception (not ideal when the key card for the room needed regular resetting). The staff were unfriendly and often unhelpful. We were rudely refused the ability to credit drinks to the room, due to the oversight of the staff during check-in. Breakfast was of poor quality, despite there being a large selection. The kitchen was also understaffed with a 10-15 minute wait to have eggs cooked.

Hotel was amazing, could not fault the facilities

Hotel was lovely, clean and staff were helpful and friendly. The only let down for me was location, I like to be able to walk to the beach or bars and restaurants and supermarkets however if we did that it was around $20 each time. Great hotel just would have been better closer to stuff

Very clean hotel with fabulous rooms

Spent a week here and loved every minute. Food plentiful, great variety and excellent quality. 10 minutes in a taxi to Puerto Banus around 10 € each way and €20 to Marbella old town which is a must. Would definitely go back

Attentive to your needs and happy to deal with any minor problems immediately. Friendly happy calm staff always cant report anything other than good. My bad would be that the female life guard is a little OTT not always paying attention to the whats going on in the pool more concerned with marching around the pool area ensuring all the adults are behaving but you just have to let it go over your head !!!!!!

Fabulous staff and excellent food but issues

This was third visit. Location requires a car. Staff and food are truly excellent. Room OK but no tea making facilities. On second date room was overlooked from cleaning roster. Big issue is room billing system which every so often results in a bar transaction being refused. In company this is very embarassing. As you would expect the IT system was blamed. On balance disappointing this time around.

Very good overall

Very clean, very comfortable beds, had some little problems in the room the first night but they were fixed immediately. Very efficient staff, excellent breakfast. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel but a little removed from shops etc

Upgraded to Premier Room (thank u Expedia) on 4th floor. Everything about the place is calm and smooth running. This was our second visit and we will go back.

Beautiful Lobby and pool huge breakfast buffe

Friendly atmosphere and a nice welcome. Confortable beds with large rooms and balconies. Beautiful immaculate pool and lovely vegetation surrounding it. You could have a choice of dining in or outside that had beautiful french doors. I would stay in this hotel in a heartbeat and would highly recommend it.

Marbs 11-15 Sept 2017

Overall an excellent stay. Would happily return to hotel. I had a Junior Suite, only marked slightly down on Cleanliness as room floor wasn't swept for a couple of days and lots of plastic glasses piling up in and around bins not emptied regularly. (Being very Picky) The hotel wasnt busy, assume it was low season which suited us. Plenty of sun loungers available throughout day. Free Towel from reception. Free shuttle to Puerto Banus available, book with reception a day or 2 before you want to visit. 8-12 euros in a taxi depending of time of travel (day/night). We had All Inclusive, highly recommend. No worrying about cost of Food and Drink. Get given a wristband but you get asked your room number when ordering for them to check. If you sign for something, your getting charged. Simple as that.

Could do better

According to Expedia, the hotel is in Marbella. It is actually about a half hour taxi ride away. Apart from that, the hotel is okay. Our room hadn't been properly cleaned when we checked in, but they moved us to another one. They are very short staffed. Always a long queue at reception, and at the bar in the evenings. On the plus side, the food is good.

Would recommend

We chose the Barcelo as our base for 3 nights in Marbella and were not disappointed. The room was large and comfortable with a lovely balcony, and the pool area was great. Always plenty os sunbeds, a relaxing atmosphere and good food and drink available. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay somewhere stylish and situated well for both The Old Town and Puerto Banus (via taxi).

Great hotel .... above and beyond service ... lovely pool area ... buffet breakfast 5 star.. have stayed many times and will do so again ... bedrooms have been recently refurbished and lovely ... close to restaurants shops and bars but far enough away to feel quiet

Comfortable hotel, lovely food, quiet location

The hotel is excellent. Restaurant and food is varied and of very good quality and restaurant staff were always at hand. Facilities are good and kept constantly clean. Although room was lovely, a bit more attention to detail would be beneficial. The fridge in the room was not working properly and the shower cubicle leaked a lot of water whilst showering, so bathroom floor was always flooded after use. The air conditioning unit didn't seem to be adjustable and only had one temperature setting. A couple of bulbs in the bedroom and bathroom were not working. None of these things spoilt our stay, but it would be good for the maintenance staff to check these issues before new guests arrive. The beach is not within walking distance, but this has its advantages as it is lovely and quiet and peaceful with nice roads surrounding hotel to walk. The nearest beach, San Pedro de Alcantara is lovely for walks and has many restaurants on its promenade however is not the best for swimming, but nice beaches are only a 20-30 minute drive away. Estepona is only 20 minutes drive away and nice beaches such as Saragoza and Nigueles are also within a short drive distance. Although there is ample parking underground in the hotel, it is not free and there is a daily parking fee of around 7.50 Euros/day for guests. We had a lovely week at Barcelo and the weather was fantastic, so all in all a successful stay.

Quite hotel that deserves its 4 star rating

Clean hotel in a quite location about 6 mins for Puerto banus. The staff where helpful, the room was very nice (apart from the aircon was not cool enough).

Looks good from a distance.

From a distance hotel looks great. Up close it needs lots of maintenance. Room was larger than normal but mould around bath and shower not good. Mini bar door hanging off. Room walls are so thin, we could here everything in adjacent rooms. Staff, best you could say would be miserable, with one exception two ladies behind the bar. Plus side pool area was very nice.

4* HOTEL, GOOD LOCATION, GREAT STAY

This hotel is situated near Marbella in the small town of Guadalmina. It has a golf course near to it. The hotel is modern in its design and is very clean. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. There is free wifi available in all areas of the hotel. There is a gym and also a large outdoor swimming pool. We only ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel and found the food to be very tasty using fresh ingredients and was well presented. The staff are polite, friendly and helpful and show excellent customer service - especially the two receptionists Rosa and Sara.

Friendly staff. We only had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. The spread for both meals was lovely, a lot of options.

Nice hotel perhaps a little "tired"

Nice hotel with very pleasant and helpful staff. the free shuttle bus was very handy and punctual. the food was really very good quality, very fresh and varied. Generally a good base.

Great property but between 4 and 5 stars. Furnishings are a bit dated. Took advantage of beautiful pool (but not other amenities, padel court, golf adjacent to property, some activities for kids, spa). Breakfast very good. Property is a bit isolated... No nightlife, no nearby stores, as surrounding area is golf course, etc. Taxi 12€ (Each way) to San Pedro chiringuito restaurant on beach named KalaKalua was Excellent! But difficult to catch taxi home after during busy summer night. Parking is 15€ extra per night. There is a free hotel shuttle to beach at 11 am returning 5 pm each day.

2 days in June

Stayed here for 2 nights in June. You will need a car really as there is nothing close by - plenty of street parking nearby. The hotel car park is €15 per day or €0.03c per min. Hotel was clean & professional, however slightly dated. Pool area was nice with plenty of sunbeds & a small snack bar. I think lots of people were there on an all inclusive deal. Room was large in size & had a big bathroom - with bath & nice balcony. The double bed was 2 singles pushed together but that wasn't really a problem for us. We could have done with extra pillows as we only got 1 each. The minibar was empty & the fridge didn't work. The wifi was ok without being amazing. Perfect for a golf trip as lots of courses nearby. There is a free shuttle bus everyday to the beach.

Took a couple of days off on journey home to see Puero Banus have some good meals and do some shopping
