Friendly staff, nice room with comfortable beds, good breakfast. Not far from the beach.
Great service , conveniently located , ample rooms. Definitely is a must
The service, all the staff were very king and gentle, they made me feel as home
Great place to stay.
Negatives: no free access to pool or spa facilities despite being advertised. A big disappointment. The closure of the outdoor pool was buried in the small print. Very strange bathroom and wardrobe divider that was operated via a sliding door which made for a fairly dangerous experience with a family of 4. NO MIRROR in the room - I had to do my hair and makeup blind or in the reflection of the kettle when the bathroom was in use. Pork in everything and even when we asked to have it removed, it snuck into the burgers, omelette etc.. Coffee is not a strong point - it could be better! Positives: the breakfast is great - lots of selection but also not too much to drive us to obesity! The dining area was clean and the staff were polite and friendly. There was no quibbling about the pork issue which is always helpful in making the experience a good one. We got lots of help when booking our bus to Bilbao airport. The room was spacious and we were provided with bottled water every day bar one. The staff were also very prompt in providing us with additional towels etc so no long waits. Taxis were also arranged quickly. Overall - owing to the way in which our issues were dealt with, this was an enjoyable stay. Taxis are around €10 to the old town and about a 30-45min walk. Would recommend going to the Funicular!
Na
Not my type of place
Great hotel away from the busy part of town so it's quiet at night. Staff on front desk were a bit impersonal but maybe it was a language barrier on my part!
Our Stay With Excellent Beautiful, Very Modern Hotel The front desk was very helpful. You can park your car and take a bus to downtown for just a few euros . One recommendation will be that they should have Coffie in the lobby for people that leave the hotel early
Barcelo provides a good consistency in whatever property we have visited and stayed. This property is a little different as the staff went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay.
Love staying here
Comfortable hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast selection, room had a few problems, broken toilet seat, damaged flooring, the room was well serviced by the staff.
Very smart hotel located in a smart area. An easy bus ride (number 16) from the Old Town.
Nice hotel with 20 minute walk along the promenade to the old town which was nice although there is also the option of catching the number 16 bus in and out which stops right outside the hotel. The hotel is in a fairly quiet location although it fronts a road but we did not hear it from our room. The restaurant is very nice although we only used it once. For breakfast there is an excellent choice of food. We really liked the hotel and would stay again.
Come for the room, stay for the food
Very comfortable hotel with an excellent restaurant.
Home in Donostia
It felt like home. The staff were fantastic and they taught us how to use the bus which added a lovely local tough to our experience.
Great accommodation in a good location
Room was very clean and bed was enormous and comfortable. The shower was good, and it was nice to have a balcony although it didn't have a sea view Breakfast choices were good. Outdoor pool was open, although very cold and you could get a drink at a poolside van area, but the snacks advertised were not available which was disappointing as we had to leave pool and go into town for lunch. We had dinner in hotel one evening as had very good reviews, the food was ok but the service was terrible. We asked for a wine menu, was told didn't have one. Ordered drinks which didn't come, then ordered from another waiter, which came just as we were finishing our meal. Not what we expected. They seemed more concerned with a large party that was dining in outdoor covered area than guests in restaurant. Otherwise, a great base for a stay in the area. We parked on street for less than €4 a day and walked in and out of town, although buses stop right outside hotel .
The property was nice. But we booked it primarily to have a great pool to use. But the pool was very cold and the water is not heated in any way especially when the temperatures in San Sebastian are not that hot. The ocean water is much better and comfortable vs. the pool. Lack of easy grab and go food options in the morning as well.
Disappointing
Great shower comfy bed. For 300 euros we got a view of the embankment, instant coffee and a noisy aircon for a sleepless night. Comfy bed to listen to the aircon
Location is excellent - short walk to beach and on main bus route to town centre. Nice and quiet . Standout feature is the large pool and area around it - gets sun all day - has a bar that serves great sangria and a great area to relax . 2 points prevented this being a 5 star rating 1. The triple deluxe room that we booked turned out to be a standard double with a sofa bed- not the room shown on the booking site and lacking adequate space for 3 adults . This misreprrsentation should be corrected on the booking site. 2. Pool area didn't open until 10.00am - too late for a nice pre- breakfast swim.
Perfectly fine - bit further away from heart of town than I thought. Nice pool, good breakfast. Good quality mid range big hotel.
Staff was rude and was unhelpful when asking for a mattress due to the sofa bed dipping in the middle.
Barcelo Costa Vasca met out expectations although it seemed a bit pricey even for the time of the year
Nice hotel nice pool staff very friendly
Really did not enjoy our stay here. We had booked a king bed and received twins with no option to switch. The hotel was very hot and the ac didn’t work. The blow dryer was hanging out of the wall plate with wires dangling everywhere.
Amazing outdoor swimming pool
Reasonable hotel, but poor VFM & poor location.
We are on a trip around central and northern Spain. This hotel was the most expensive nightly rate on our trip (400 euro per night). The reception welcome was very poor with no information about breakfast, pool usage or local area. The room was a nice size and fairly clean, although sink towel rail was hanging off and shower screen mouldy. Not really what we expect of a room at this price point. Bar & restaurant staff were very friendly and restaurant/bar prices were very reasonable. Pool area & pool was great, although the towel service not clear initially due to voucher system, which again was not explained at check in. Hotel location not great for access to central San Sebastián as 30 min walk or 10 mins in a taxi.
Our second visit which says it all really. Only complaint this time is there were not enough sun beds around the pool. Lots of space to put more out but not enough to go around. Guests having to sit or lie on the ground. Not really acceptable for this quality of hotel. Invest in more sun beds please Barcelo.
Loved this hotel. Top notch gym and spa under the hotel. Privately owned so had to pay 8€ for gym and 20€ for gym and spa. Perfect for a rainy day. Chose a room with a balcony. Lovely addition. Top notch breakfast. The only negative was diner at the hotel. Compared to all the incredible restaurants in the area it was disappointing. Walk to the old city was about 20mn and has wonderful views. Used the 16 bus also. Cheap and convenient. Bought a Mugi card from the Mugi office for greater discounts on buse travel. Will return to this Barceló!
New but with many problems
I came to stay for a week. The check-in was long and drawn out, but housekeeping was doing the best they could. Thirty minutes after getting my room (after a long wait), as I am laying on my bed talking on the phone, a male employee enters my room without notice, and continues past my suitcases to restock the mini-fridge. It scared me terribly & he wasn’t very apologetic. At Barcelo, there are no extras in the lobby or reception like other hotels. The gym is an extra charge. No coffee is offered in the lobby. Breakfast is extra. This hotel is on the newer side but there are no dialing instructions on the phone, the secondary lock on the door didn’t work when I tried it after the privacy invasion. This location is fine if you are with a group or with family, but far from all the central activities if you don’t have a car. Not many restaurant or other service options nearby. It is located in a residential area. Loud slamming doors. Thin walls so you can hear snoring in the next room. I stay 70-90 nights a year in hotels. I regretted booking this hotel.
Enjoyed our stay- 22 Euros for breakfast and 20 Euros for parking daily was too expensive. Otherwise a nice hotel in a good area.
Clean, well-managed!
Close to the bay
Lovely room, clean, spacious and comfortable with a small balcony. The bar and outside area was nice, all the staff were lovely. It's quite far out of town, with just a few restaurants in short walking distance, but a bus stop right outside.
Great hotel.
Everything was very good. Only one complaint was the Veggie option in the restaurant. There was a Vegan burger only which tasted of chicken and vegan bacon. My wife doesn’t like meat, and when asked for a salad they could not do this. Very poor
Very nice hotel, good location, clean comfortable, friendly people.
Problems with check in
Disappointing pricey hotel
Checking in was an ordeal. Over 1 hour wait for the keys with a huge line of people waiting. Only 2 folks working the counters. Gave us the wrong type of room for our elderly companion who needed accessibility options, not just once, but twice. They didn't even seem to know which rooms were appropriate. Neither room was cleaned well, found debris and used qtips on the floor. Disgusting. They didn't offer any compensation, discount, breakfast or anything. Just 'sorry' Spa costs 20 euros per person. Not advertised like that in the description. Not a 4 star hotel stay at all.
Overall the hotel was good, stayed for 2 nights and had no issues with the room. They have an amazing gym for a reasonable priced day pass along with a spa which I enjoyed. Parking is pretty expensive if parking on the property but they do have street parking which is much less. Good location that you can walk or take taxi/bus. I would stay here again.
Great staff, good clean rooms, lovely stay.
Nice room in a modern hotel with a really good jet shower. All the staff were friendly and efficient. Only disappointment was finding the pool costs 20 Euros per day per person. As the pool was one of the reasons we chose this hotel, it was a letdown as not mentioned on any of the booking sites.
Nice hotel. A little far from tourist areas but transportation is easy and afordable.
Thank you Conci for facilitating our visit and excellent recommendation for restaurant.
10 mins from beach. Very convenient
Rooms are extremely small!!! Lobby and restaurant are always busy with huge conventions making it super noisy.
This hotel is walkable for a fit person as it is uphill from San Sebastián. The facilities are good however the pool was closed for maintenance and we had not been informed.
Hotel is clean and modern. Easy to park in underground garage. Great breakfast. There is a bus stop in front of the hotel. It is about 30 minute walk to the beach and 45 to the old part of the town. Staff speaks English and is very helpful
Location was excellent breakfast buffet and on-site restaurant are very good quality
Nice and easy
Nice location with easy access to bus 16 which takes you to town and back in about 10 minutes.
Excellent customer service!
My room was so noisy at night due to the elevator hall.
It is not exactly at downtown but it is in a walking distance to downtown (15 minutes)
The hotel's in a quiet neighbourhood, which is near Mt Igueldo and the beach. There are some cafes and restaurants along "Matias", which make up for the c.20 mins walk to the Old Town.
Very clean and quiet! Beautiful hotel!
chlorine odor in the room
Beautiful Donostia
Beautiful hotel in a lovely part of town. Staff were polite, extremely friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my stay.
Beautiful!!!
The hotel is relatively new and very nice. It is a nice walk from the hotel to the beach. I had a good dinner at the restaurant, the bed was very comfortable, the room and bathroom were very clean. Cannot say anything bad about the hotel. Will definitely go back.
Good property
Quaintly located in the hills just outside of San Sebastián Centro. Only a few stops away via the Route 16 bus which stops directly in front of the hotel. The hotel itself is still young so displays many modern features and functionalities. Rooms are clean and comfortable with USB ports near the bed for ease and convenience. Room Balcony size is large enough for 2 on 2 football game. Hotel staff very attentive and will assist where possible.
A
Pleasant
Nice pleasant stay ,nice pleasant staff apart for check out chap who checked us out was extremely rude and very abrupt to us .Glad we did not meet him at check in
Restaurant menu not sufficiently varied
I reported an issue with lights not working on the day of arrival, these were not fixed and no communication why despite me providing feedback to them during our stay. The nicely refurbished hotel is spoilt by unfixed wear and tear like the lighting, broken hooks in the bathroom and door stop in the hallway. Taken together with no response from staff indicates and lack of care.
Really enjoyed our stay. Spacious room and all extremely clean. Good pool area and only 15 min walk to the town centre, so we’ll positioned. Had 2 meals which were both very nice. Would thoroughly recommend.
Nice modern hotel in San Sebastian
Nice modern hotel located in a tranquil area of San Sebastian, a few blocks away from the beach
Loved this hotel
Loved this hotel, really clean and fresh, Beautiful reception and bar area, we couldn't believe what great value a glass of wine in the bar was! Staff very helpful. We decided to walk from the bus station which was uphill so would recommend a taxi if you might have difficulty with this. Nice walk to the promenade. Beautiful pool area. There is also an amazing gym which we didn't use. We didn't eat in the hotel so can't comment on that. Super comfy bed, good shower, lovely decor. Would love to come back.
From check-in to check-out, everything was perfect. I strongly recommend this hotel when people stay in San Sebastián!
Value for money in question
Beautiful stay at the Barcelo costa vasca. Came with my friend for my mini break in San Sebastián. The pool is nice and large too. The pool bar shack is good to grab drinks and small snacks from. This place is about a 35 minute walk into the centre of San Sebastián. There is a number 16 bus, but it’s a bit hit and miss in line with Apple Maps public transport.
Great hotel outside of the city center. This was a girls trip that started off in Madrid. We made our way to San Sebastián and booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. Lobby is gorgeous and bar was great. Super cute rooms and comfy beds. Beach is about an 8 minute walk down the hill. Beautiful beach. restaurants /bars/ supermarket are also about an 8 minute walk down the hill. Key is to walk down the hill and take the bus back 😉 The bus is right in front of the hotel and we also took it to the city center. Less than 10 minutes. Breakfast was also great and super cute vibes in the covered outdoor seating area.
staff was good
The rooms we had felt dirty around the skirting boards and had cheap laminate flooring which despite the recent refurb, already needed replacing. Getting in and out of the shower/bath proved to be difficult with the toilet situated at the end of the bath.
Everything was great 👍
A terrible hotel and not worth 4 stars! The old receptionist at check-in was unfriendly and rude.m and couldn’t be bothered to tell us that car parking just outside the hotel is €3.7 per day instead of €20 in the hotels car park. There’s an extra surcharge of €28 per person per day if you want to use the gym and spa facilities, even though this is advertised on the Expedia website! The bathroom tap was not working properly and there were holes in the bed sheets! The bedroom walls are paper thin and we were kept up by a group of teenage girls next door, we complained to the hotel but they did nothing! Location is like 35 minutes walk from the centre of San Sebastián and up hill! Avoid this hotel if you want a pleasant stay!
Very nice hotel, staff very helpful. I was only disappointed because I booked on the basis of the pool, which was not open.
Of the 4 hotels we have stayed at on this trip so far, this has been our least favorite. Breakfast was good with a lot of options. The breakfast staff was very friendly. The room was clean, safe and quiet. The balcony was nice. Our least favorite part of this hotel was the front desk staff who did help, but were not very nice about it and gave the impression it was beneath them. We felt as if we were an inconvenience. Beautiful city!
San Sebastián 2023
It was as a very nice visit and would stay therefore again
Great location. Close to shopping. Beautiful hotel. Highly recommend! We loved it.
It was a very pleasant night at the hotel. What we liked the most was the room service, the food was delicious. We also loved the impeccable kitchen at breakfast.
Great stay! The breakfast was good, get down early for a better selection.
Beautiful hotel and lovely location. Very walkable to all sites including the beach, funicular and old town. Excellent service and lovely room. Would definitely come back!
Comfortable Stay in San Sebastian
The bed was comfortable but this hotel was not within walking distance of town. Room was a little tight with our two pieces of luggage and we had some issues with the television not working for us and getting the water in the shower to turn off. Nice bar downstairs that served our favorite brandy.
Nice clean hotel
Nice friendly hotel, modern and clean with a great pool and outside area. Handy for the beach, a little bit of a walk into the centre, it’s good to build and appetite and burn off the pintxos. Only improvement would be to note that a few rooms don’t have balconies, maybe just the family ones.
Estuvimos dos noches . No limpiaron el cuarto Avisamos que el secador pelo estaba dañdo no lo arreglaron al igual que la mesa de noche. El hotel muy lindo bien ubicado pero mal servicio
The hotel was clean, air conditioned and relatively spacious so no complaints about the basics. It included some coffee/tea and a small fridge. It was on a nice leafy street up the hill from the beach, a 20 minute walk to Playa de la concha and probably 40 min to old town. I wished we were closer to the beach/old town. The amenities were also a bit lacking at this pricepoint (which was quite pricey for a family sized room.) Breakfast would have been an additional 60 euros/day so overpriced for this area thus we ended up doing other things. Max parking price wasn't clearly displayed but was maybe 32 euros/day? Street parking is possible and what we ended up doing the last day to save money (it's 3 euros/day to compare). They also didn't include pool or beach towels, which is standard at nicer hotels. The Barcelo is fine but there are probably better more centrally located choices for the money. If the Barcelo included breakfast and parking it would be a much better deal.
Good rooms (we had a second one for our adult children). Located walking distance from the beach, with some good cafes etc nearby and we walked all around town. We never used the pool but it seemed nice.
Workmanship lacking in rooms.
Although the hotel is beautiful, we were unable to enjoy the pool due to some “paperwork” needing to be submitted. Also, the sliding door to our washroom was a mirror/glass combo. Although the mirror should be placed on the exterior, it was in fact placed on the interior of the washroom which meant anyone in the room can watch us to our business/shower, therefore there was zero privacy. On a positive note, great location if you’re looking to enjoy the beach or Monte igueldo.
Spain Vaca!!
Nice hotel, very cozy rooms with a huge king-size bed. Slept like a baby. Customer service was fantastic, bartenders were really friendly! Breakfast was delicious, they’ll make fantastic omelettes as long as you let them know how you like it! Thank God it was beautiful weather because the pool was closed. Very ambiguous description of seasonal, showed mostly pictures of the pool yet it was closed when you got there surprisingly. But because the weather was so nice we were able to go to the beautiful beach for two days! Much better anyway!! San Sebastian is a wonderful city, I have been all around the world and multiple locations in Spain, I would say I like the city better than Barcelona, my opinion! I could live here for sure!!
Nice hotel
Nice hotel a little way from the beach and about 25 mins walk to the old town. Room was comfortable and food in restaurant good. Breakfast and parking too expensive!.
We liked the property and the area it s in. The room was clean and the shower was great. The breakfast was very nice lots of choice and there was even a chef to prepare omelette etc. It’s a shame the pool was closed but we paid to use the spa underneath the hotel is was a little expensive but a nice facility.
Parking and menu
The evening dinner menu was the same has lunchtime menu. Parking expensive hard to find as parking spot should have a parking space allocated.
Very modern and clean hotel with friendly staff. Lovely sitting out the front of the hotel with a beer from the bar. quiet location but a bit of a walk into the old town - A good half an hour walk. Only 10 min walk to the beach which was great.
Clean, modern and efficient
Nice place to stay in San Sebastian
Great and comfortable Hotel located within walking distance from The Concha. Very easy to drive all the way into the street where the hotel is located. The hotel has bicycles if you feel like taking a stroll all the way to the old town where the restaurants are excellent for dinning to tapas.
great family time
we are a family with two small girls (4 and 6 years old) and stayed 4 nights. The location is next to a bus stop which is another advantage. the beach is only a 10 minute walk away. If needed, the hotel restaurant serves great food. we will come back soon.
All good. Parking was extortionate at 21 pounds per dy for guests.

We will definitely come back! Staff was great and room excellent
