Large and spread out. A lot of beach to wall on
We liked that the resort was very nice and spacious. One thing I do have to say is that the service is very slow at the restaurants and at the buffet. Other than that we enjoyed our stay here.
Please hire speaking English staffs for better communications.
Really enjoyed myself. Definitely will visit again
I read the reviews and was a bit nervous before going, but I have nothing negative to say about our stay. Yes, there is room for doing updates, but everything was CLEAN and that's more important for me. There were some things we liked better than others, such as the environment on the adults only side. There were so many more people on the Palace side we were much more relaxed on the Beach side. We did some of the planned activities and won some items such as a free mani, pedi, and hat. We did not care for the food at the Palace buffet, so we didn't go back there. The staff were so friendly and attentive, we were well taken care of.
Wondeeful
Great resort.
The food is very bad. The hotel is fine, but the food is very bad.
The beach is absolutely stunning! Every morning the beach was cleared of seaweed and debris. The sand is like powder. The grounds and the pool are just as stunning. We had a premier ocean view room that was just steps from the beach which was convenient, but we didn't have a full view of the ocean which is what we are used to when we travel. The rooms need updating though. Our first night that we arrived, our safe did not work, the mini fridge did not work and our patio door wouldn't lock due to warping. The staff fixed all issues quickly. My question is why wouldn't these issues be fixed before the room is reserved? We found the language barrier a bit frustrating, so if you speak spanish you're in luck! We found the female staff very stand-offish but the male bartenders were very friendly! I don't think we will return due to the rooms needing renovating. If you are looking for a place to relax and enjoy peace and quiet, this is a great place to visit.
I liked the food at La Brisa and the service there. The other restaurants weren't very good in either area. Service at the Mameys bar was horrible but the wait staff walking around was excellent. Housekeeping didn't do our room on the last day even though we were out of the room for 7 hours. When we told them they said OK and didn't come. We had to go take fresh towels from their cart so we could shower for dinner our last night.
Liked access to beach and restaurants Did not like hot water issues and bathroom dated.
Staff are lovely. They have some fun activities to do. The beach is beautiful. The pools are beautiful. The food is average. Interior hotel rooms need to be updated…toilet and water pressure issues.
Beautiful resorts with nice beaches
We have allergy issues and the food great for that. Great property. We would definitely go again to this report.
Had 10 couples go to resort to celebrate 40th birthday parties. For the price the value you receive at this resort is tremendous! Definitely recommend.
Bueno, pero tienen que darle mantenimiento a las habitaciones.
5 stars, would highly recommend!
Very good vacation resort
I highly recommend this place. We stayed at the adults only part. Staff are nice, the place is clean, lots of choices for dinner, two buffet. We had a great time and the price is right.
Great staff, and beautiful property!
Trees everywhere, what a great vacation
Loved our room but was a little disappointed with the overall communication of staff
We had a pool view room and I was surprised we could see the ocean as well! The king sized bed was very large and comfortable. Food at the buffet was a good selection. Bar service was good. Very little English spoken by staff, for the most part not a problem. Our first there and we would definitely return.
just liked overall food and location
Great overall experience.
the beach was awesome
Food was really not good despite a wide selection. Room was very simple. Staff was a mixed bag, some very nice, others not happy which made it uncomfortable sometimes. We stayed at adults-only Barcelo property, but there's more available at the family property next door.
Our reservation was for the Beach (adults only) when we checked in it was a 2 hour process and then we were sent over to Barceló Bávaro Palace because there were no rooms available for us even though we had a reservation!! I was very upset/disappointed at first but then realized it was actually a good thing!! Just not sure why it took them 2 hours to tell us!! Other than the nightmare of check in on the Beach side every thing was fantastic!! I would go back and stay at the Palace any time!
Fridge was not clean, sliding door stuck, room was nice but could use a little updating. Outlets were sketchy. Couldn’t get through to the premium number at one time. Request made but not followed through. Most staff were very kind. Resort was VERY clean. Loved that.
The proprietary sits on a great white sandy beach. It had a large buffet however the food was average. The parts that I wasn't so happy about were the staff were still cleaning rooms at 5 and 6pm, so there were times they couldn't tidy up our room because we were getting ready for dinner. We stayed 12 days and the bedding wasn't changed until day 9, and thats only because we requested it to be changed. Our room was swept once, so beach sand was all over the floor. I truly believe it was because they dont have enough cleaning staff.
We have stayed at Barcelo Bavaro Beach many times. The Ocean Front Premium Rooms can’t be beat for the view. The rooms do need updating as they haven’t changed much inside since we first stayed there 25 yrs ago. I also notice over time, the quality of the shows at night has gone down hill & we often go to The Palace to see their shows as they are better. The buffets could use some daily variety instead of pretty much the same thing over & over. The beach is stunning & I highly recommend the day trip to Saona Island & 1/2 day buggy excursion.
Amazing
Not a 5 stars hotel, but still has some qualities
The Pro’s: This hotel is located in front of Bavaro Beach, an extremely beautiful, long and large beach. One of the most beautiful in the entire Caribbean. The hotel is kept clean and the staff is kind and well meaning, although it lacks the proper training to provide a true 5 stars experience. The Con’s: The food varies between very average and down right horrible. Worst food I have had in a long time in an all-inclusive hotel. It reminded me of my travels to Cuba back in the 1990s… Also, the hotel is quite old (one of the very first to be built in Punta Cana) and somewhat rundown, although honest efforts are being made to keep it in a decent state. Bottom-line while the Barcelo Bavaro Beach is not deprived of some qualities, it is simply not a 5 stars hotel. Not even close. Maybe a 3.5 stars, at best. But one also has to be fair to it, they charge less than other real 5 stars hotel and still have a gorgeous beach to offer to its clientele.
It is a beautiful resort, even that the food was not really good, it is a really good place to relax and spend time Infront of the ocean
..
I love how beautiful everything is, the winding paths, the pools and palms. I love Their spa and their entertainment at the big theater. I love the cozy feel of Mamey Bar and sitting out at the low tables under the stars. I love to go for afternoon tea with treats at the Palace. I love the warm ocean water even in January. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Two sinks is nice. The buffets are great. La Brisa right on the ocean is so quiet and beautiful to have lunch at. Many activities if you like that sort of thing
The adults only side is very quiet. But it is small and more older adult. I liked the sister property better. Much bigger and full of life. The food at both resorts left a lot To be desired. We were disappointed in every meal every day.
Little things matter
I was a bit disappointed. The shuttle service between areas was unreliable and not consistent. Upon check out they insisted I ordered a pina colada and had it charged to my room. I do not like pina coladas and why would I charge to the room if all inclusive. I tried to explain this, but they wouldn't budge and made me pay. While it was not a big amount, the manner it was handled was totally inappropriate. That was my parting experience and ruined what could have been a good trip.
Enjoyed the pool area and the beach front, and easy access to the Barcelo Palace for other amenities. Did not find the food very appetizing. Did not try the a la carte restaurants as we needed reservations, and long pants - which we did not bring with us.
First-time visitors really need more information about their stay... but the beach was very beautiful...
Everything was wonderful except the food . Lots of food Joyce but no flavor . The bartenders at the night bar was awesome and all so the service at the buffet and a big hug to a very special staff named Danna , she’s a wonderful person, made us feel like family! Look forward to vacation there soon!
Loved the many lounges to have a drink in the evening, golf course restaurant for breakfast, very hood cocktails, windsurfing gear was decent, hobbycat, beach is superb, fantastic equipment at the gym, yoga lesson was good. Very well organised. No stress. Everything was a yes and very relaxing. Good shows. Will come back
Pool and beach excellent. Service very good, room ok. Food very good.
Staff was kind and helpful at all areas. Beautiful resort and lots to do.
Safe area, great transportation, beautiful beach.
Three days into our eight day vacation my wife had to go to the hospital where she is still receiving care and upon checking out to head over to be with my seriously ill wife this resort charged me$ 50 US because i didn’t have my wife’s bracelet. Totally unethical i will never again stay at this resort.
Barcelo Beach was amazing! They 5 hotels that. are very close and they have train trolley that takes you to and from. Night time shows are good, food is ok what you’d except in an all inclusive. Would come again in heart beat.
.....
Amazing time. Only complaint, which did not impact experience, was no beach service for cocktails
Not many of the staff were very helpful. We had to walk a long way to get a drink because they had no one walking around.
Me and my husband had the best vacation at this hotel. Love every part of this hotel.
Beautiful beach and area around. Very clean and convenient resort. Not a fan of the food options
The property is really nice. The rooms not so much kinda old and not well taken care of. That being said you won't spend much time in the room anyway.
I like it’s was quite, beach was perfect , don’t like facilities need renovations.
It was great!
The entertainment staff were so fun and friendly. Franyer, Arianna, and Louis were the best!!
Beautiful beach, grounds, great food, drinks and staff. Beach can be noisy for several hours per day with tour boats from adjacent resort blasting sound. Tricky shower accessibility due to tub/glass and no handles. Chilling air conditioning not amenable to sublety. Balcony sliding door almost inoperable.
good: most of the food was good. good: buffet foods good for all inclusive. bad: no option for drink upgrades. bad: no healthy alternatives for soda like healthy good quality juices, iced tea, etc
Quiet, beautiful Bavaro Beach property. Good food at this location. Also enjoyed the Palace restaurants, although not top star. Barcelo Bavaro train (tram) transportation provided convenient access to other amenities on the property, water parks, mini golf, tennis, and a lovely chapel for Mass. We highly recommend!
Check in was a disaster. We arrived at the check in time. Waited at counter 45 minutes. Only one staff person was doing the process and room was not ready. Asked to come back in 30 minutes. When we returned we were taken to a room that was occupied. We went back to the desk and waited 15 more minutes for another room. No apology or upgrade was offered. Room was far away from the main activities area. Additionally we were told to sign up for reservations to “special” restaurants. The food selection was minimal, the serving size was laughable and the taste was terrible.
great property , hotel is a bit dated! However entire experience for the price was amazing , would visit again!
LIKE BEING IN PARADISE, BEAUITFUL WEATHER, SAFE AND WELL TAKING CARE OF.
Everything was amazing, except they are very slow check in you in.
Perfect for golfers and beach goers
The staff was so kind from the maids to the bartenders to the servers and everyone in between. The property was beautiful, well maintained, and just easy to get around. Best of all was the bang we got for our buck. We will for sure be going back.
Limited snack options at the Bavaro Beach
Good hotel with huge and beautiful territory, great beach, nice staff
Overall experience was terrible. Food was very poorly prepared and cold most of the time. Even at restaurants the food comes out cold.
Lo mejor de todo el personal muy amable y serviciales un 10 para ellos .
This is an overall good hotel if you want to sit back and relax.
Pros: - The buffet food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. - The grounds were well-maintained and clean. - The beach stunning. Cons: Check-in process: It was chaotic. Expedia listed my reservation as one person, even though two names were on it, and we both flew in together. Despite the rate being the same for one or two people, I was charged an extra $150 per night for the second person already on the reservation. Expedia tried to help, but we got nowhere. -No electricity: I had no power in half my room, which was a major inconvenience. -Entertainment: The shows were lackluster and far below expectations. There was no real entertainment which left us bored. We tried the casino, was okay, and the nightclub, which was decent, but overall, the activities were minimal unless you left the resort for excursions. Even during the shows, people were falling asleep. -Adults-only enforcement: It felt inconsistent. While some guards checked for bracelets and ensured only guests accessed the adults-only areas and beach, others were lax. As a result, kids and people from other places occupied these spaces, making it less exclusive. - Themed restaurants: Avoid them. The seafood restaurant was particularly bad. Portions were tiny, the food (like the salmon) was unappetizing, and we found ourselves laughing at how poor the experience. We went back to the buffet. Summary - will not return, AVOID.
Amazing
Great trip
Upon arrival, check-in was horrible. No urgency whatsoever and no directives about the check-in process. Arrived at 2pm and room was not ready until 6pm. Furthermore they forgot to activate our keycard. Workers were not pleasant and often times rude and dismissive. The room was horrible; water flow from bathtub was slow and the ceiling was coming down. They kept forgetting to replace towels, garbage and toilet paper after cleaning the room. Overall it’s a beautiful property, nice beach but horrible customer service.
Great beach, Great staff, Food was ok. Rest of the trip was amazing
La atencion fue excelente por parte de todo el personal, incluyendo la comida, limpeza en los cuartos ,la atencion del bar y la amabilidad de todos sus empleados.
It was a very nice stay
This is very nice large resort. There were good dining choices, and the pool is large and not crowded.
Great value
the bathtub was horrible, didnt drain. the food wasnt great either.
I liked the view from our room. Liked the convenience and reliability of the trolley that kept us connected to all the amenities and services offered. Liked the different restaurant alternatives. Liked the VIP room and how quick was the check in. Loved the hydrotherapy. We felt safe all the time. Noticed that the room needs renovations. That some employees, specially in the VIP section, were lacking that friendly smile, customary of the Dominican people. Many others were extra friendly. It's my first adults only hotel. Noticed that the atmosphere was low key. The beach and pool activities were fun but at a much lower level compared to other hotels I've visited. Perhaps it's just the adult only atmosphere.
The experience was good
Todo muy hermoso, la ama de los empleados muy acogedor.
The staff and ambience of the property was amazing.
Overall good experience. Would have loved to see more vegetarian dinning options.
The size of the combined property property of the adults only and the palace with a train for commuting.
The territory is vast and beautiful, and the beach and the food are excellent. However, the rooms show wear and tear and need renovation.
I live this resort. We satyed in the adults only part which is a short walk to the palace. Its low key and nice. The beach is beautiful. Checking in and out takes a while so be patient. The worse thing about the resort is the website and making reservations. Some restaurants would accomodate us without one, with a tip. Rooms are on the older side, but we were never in them except for sleeping.
We had an excellent experience at this property. It is clean, very well maintained and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is good. Will definitely be back!
The beach and the pools were great! We were surprised to experience lackluster service from the staff. The food was average at best.
Service is not good at the buffet, very slow. No one speaks English. Very bad choice of red and white wines. Cheap and taste like vinegar. Rooms are not cleaned thoroughly, shortage of bath and hand towels.
Dining locations very good, buffet is decent
Buffet opens and many stations don’t have food ready.
Very old hotel Would not go there since I stayed there in the past This was not my choice only went there because Expedia messed up my original booking and kind of forced me to take this resort
The property is beautiful, the rooms are lacking a bit for a nice resort. The beach is beautiful but water wasn’t as clear as I thought it would be.
Unique beach!
First of all terrible check in experience . first room was dirty and broken . Looked like a bad motel room . Second room wasn’t much of an improvement the refrigerator was broken for 2 days and mini bar stock is one bottle of water, 3 cans of beer and 2 sodas , the resort accommodations are dated . It’s quite boring and uneventful even the hotel lobby bar closes by 11pm. . Drink options are just mediocre. The pool area closes at 7pm. No accommodations were made for all the trouble for and during check in . The towels were old as well in the room., everyday we had to ask for towels . The food options are like being in a college dormitory . How could there not be coconut water available anywhere ? No avocados ? Room service which was included in our package was absolutely terrible and not even edible but then charged as an expense when we went to check out . We spent most of our time using the sister resort pool area , for as a family resort it was way livelier. Those restaurants lacked service and the food was just mediocre. The highlight was the coffee, rum & cigar bar . I guess if you’re 60 plus this would be perfect for you. How disappointing to select a resort that’s rated “wonderful” for our first trip to DR. It clearly was not wonderful at all. I would definitely not recommend these accommodations.
The check-in process was a nightmare. We were initially sent to a room on the first floor where the patio door did not lock, raising serious safety concerns. After reporting the issue, we were sent to a second room, only to find it was already occupied—we accidentally walked in on a man who was undressed. When we brought these problems to the receptionist, we were treated poorly, spoken to rudely, and never received an apology. The receptionist was visibly upset with us, rolling her eyes repeatedly. After two frustrating hours, we were finally given a room that was acceptable, though far from ideal. The bathroom door in this room did not close properly, and the overall condition of the space was outdated. It took several phone calls to get someone to fix the safe, which was not functional. The food and restaurants were average at best, and the pool area lacked music or any form of entertainment, making the experience dull.
The Bavaro Barcelo Beach Hotel made my first impression of DR a memorable one. I love this property so much, I would definitely recommend it to family and friends. We had an ocean view premium room and I really enjoyed the extra amenities we were offered. Overall I had a really great Birthday Trip.
Barceló Bávaro Beach - Adults Only - All Inclusive | Home in Punta Cana | Travala.com
The hotel had a very calm atmosphere. The pool is big and the ocean area is beautiful. The other resort wasn't too far of a walk. It was bothersome that the "adults only" hotel didn't have very many options. One pool, no swim up bar, only a couple of food options, nowhere to get snacks through out the day. The casino and sprts bar were on the family friendly side. The only bar in the adult side closed at midnight. The rooms are outdated. The staff didn't seem as accommodating as I've received at other places.
