A really lovely property, our room was so spacious and very clean when we arrived. We had complimentary drinks in the fridge and we were offered advice on the area around us. Even communicating to the staff was so simple and they were really sweet. Would recommend anyone visiting venice to stay here
Your own little palazzo
Beautiful property, only 10 minutes walk from Santa Lucia Station, but with some great cafes and bars nearby. The interior is really impressive, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Highly recommend
Excellent, new, beautiful.
Newly built spacious room, clean, high quality furnishings. Beautiful courtyard. Helpful staff. Exceptionally comfortable.
Comfortable room and beds
We enjoyed it very much! The room is big and clean with classical style. We received free drinks, which was is a pleasant surprise!
Great place!
Very nice place with very friendly staff...
Nice property, I would recommend.
Excellent stay.
Older hotel located in the heart of Venice, currently under renovation, will be exquisite when complete. The room was huge and clean with comfy beds. Loved it here.
Wonderful, no regrets.
We really loved our stay at Antico Portego and we wish we had stayed longer! The room 'Venere' was very clean and large with a great bathroom and shower. The location was perfect for our 12km+ hike around Venice! It was very nice to come back to a comfortable room. The hotel is less than 10 minute walk from the train station and a 10 minute walk to the airport water taxi (behind the Madonna dell'Orto church, just get your tickets prior) The windows are thick to block out the noises from the busy cafes below. Even a few gratis refreshments in the refrigerator. A small table and chairs would be a nice addition to the room ;-) Thank you again for a great stay. Keep up the good work.
Wonderful service in terms of communication and keeping in touch about our stay. Only downside was the construction happening within the hotel, which was not mentioned in the booking whatsoever. Not necessarily the greatest to be woken up at 7:30 to the sounds of electric saws and loud talking. Also should have been mentioned that there was a restaurant directly under our room. Restaurant owners children were loud and the smell of the kitchen was wafting into our room,
This place is great lots of room great beds and clean. My only complaint is the check in process instructions given are not so clear there is no name on door or building so stick to address it the only way to find and if no one is there keep ringing bell took us 45 minutes to get into room once in we loved the place location is great
Room was a little warm but the a/c was in Italian and we didn’t understand the language
We were assigned the Stelle Room. It had a noticeable perfume / fragrance smell. This gave me a headache for the first 2 days of our stay. By keeping the windows open constantly, I was able to air-out the room a little bit. Since there was no front desk, there was no way to request to be moved to a different room. This was the first time I've stayed in a hotel without a front desk .... that was my mistake, and I'll never do that again. There were a couple of very nice housekeeping staff at the property, but they did not speak English. I was able to communicate the fragrance problem to them, and they found some towels for us that were not fragranced .... so they helped out about as much as they could. But why the whole room was fragranced in the first place is baffling. Maybe management instructs housekeeping to fragrance the rooms ... I have no idea. However, if you're not sensitive to fragrances, this is a good place to stay, because everything else was terrific.
Awesome Stay
Beautiful hotel with in a great location with marvelous and accommodating staff. This one is a winner.
Property was located close to the train station and the “water buss route / water taxis” . Lots of shops and food right out the door. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend this property and would stay here again.
The room was fantastic - a nice touch was all the complimentary drinks in the fridge. The bathroom was the best, with drawers for storage and a large shower, and the bed was super comfortable and king size. And we loved the Cannaregio neighborhood. The only small drawback was the construction going on just outside our window. But we’re early risers so that was not a bother. Thank you, Nicole and Dana! You helped make Venice one of our most memorable trips.
The place was decent and id recommend it. Rooms were spacous and clean. Other positives: 1) Fridge stocked with conplimentary drinks. 2) candy! Only a few issues: 1) we read other reviews where people arrved and their room wasnt ready. This happenes to us too.....only about 15 min. 2) small pieces of glass on the floor in the room....id suggest vacuuming/sweeping a little better. Clean otherwise. 3) our booking waa for a "city view" room but got an internal/"courtyard" view 4) bed and breakfast with no breakfast? Theyre in the middle of what looks like renovations....maybe they work out some of the issues mentioned above later. Regardless, a good value in a centrally located part of Venice.
Great location ! Easy check in. Nicole was always available via WhatsApp to answer any questions and offer wonderful recommendations . Received a package for us. Overall an amazing stay in Venice
Great hotel with great service. Everything was provided included cold drinks. No front desk service but easily reachable through any communication app.
Great comfortable stay with family, amazing ro.
It was a great experience staying at this property. The room was very clean and luxurious. The staff was very helpful and courteous as well.
Excellent property. Very clean, remodeled, quiet, and close to the train station.
Cheeky Break
Really smooth check in, very friendly and courteous communications and interaction, really please all round - thank you
We love the services and cleanliness. We would give 5 stars and recommend it to everyone who wants to visit Venice.
Top top top place, the rooms was really nice
This is not like a regular hotel. There is no reception. They communicate with you over whatsapp on how to check in and out. I did not see a single person associated with the hotel until someone practically chased us out of the hotel as we were leaving because there is a tax you have to pay at the end of your stay. The rooms are on the second floor of the building and there is no elevator. Because it is Venice, there is about a 20 minute walk from the closest area reachable by car to the hotel, but that is the nature of the city. The hotel is right in the midst of a lot of shopping and restaurants. Easily walked to the starting point of our gondola ride as well as some of the touristy sites. The room was clean and comfortable (and really pretty.)
Very nice place to stay and the location was very nice and I recommend it. Look for deals if you can. We paid a little more for it due to late booking.
Excellent place, very roomy, comfortable beds, super clean, good amenities.
We were in a jam and had to book this last minute. The staff was very responsive. No issues getting into the property despite that it was after the allowable check-in time. It’s very clean, great location, very comfortable and well stocked. I was so pleased. Thank you!!
Very clean, great location.
Beautiful experience
I stayed at Antico Portego at the end of May and had a wonderful experience. The location is perfect—very close to the Alilaguna boat stop, making it convenient to get to and from the airport. There are delicious cafes nearby for breakfast and an excellent restaurant for dinner right across the street. But the highlight was the room. I did not expect such a spacious and beautiful room with ceilings nearly 5 meters high, elegant furniture, a sofa, and a chandelier made of Murano glass. The bed, mattress, and pillows were extremely comfortable—I slept perfectly! The air conditioning system worked flawlessly, and the floor-to-ceiling windows effectively blocked out all street noise. Opening the window makes a noticeable difference. The bathroom was new and well-designed, with a shower, sink, toilet, and bidet. The rain shower was an excellent feature. The staff was very responsive and always available on WhatsApp. Upon check-out, I was given a gift of sweets and cookies, making me feel like I was a guest in someone's home.
Check in can be tricky as there is no front desk… make sure you get details about getting in and getting your room key.
Great condition property, recently remodeled, super clean, comfy bed. Great location.
Good location
The location is great in the heart of Venice, walkable distance for many shops, restaurants, cafes and main attractions. The bed was hard for our taste, and could not rest that well, but bed and pillows are personal choices.
Staying here made visiting Venice great. Super easy access to many locations and great food. The staff was great, Anna was very helpful. Everything was in great condition.
Great place we really enjoy the hotel great peoples, defenetly I like to come back , and let everyone know I beautiful was our room and the hotel very cozy .❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lovely hidden gem in Venice!
We had an amazing stay at Antico Portego! We were promptly met by Anna and she showed us to our room and explained everything we needed to know about the property and the facilities available to us. She was on-hand to answer any questions quickly and provided us with a few bits that we hadn’t thought to bring (like a bottle opener!). Anna made sure that we felt welcome and was always ready to tell us more about places to see or the property. Our kids loved having a chat with her too and she patiently answered all questions a 5&8 year old had! She’s a real credit to the establishment! The property was located in a busy area, but once you stepped inside, you were met with a calm atmosphere and felt miles away from the hustle of Venice. Nice restaurants near by and walking distance to all the must-see places. Would definitely book here again.
The room was excellent value for a family of 4 in Venice. Air conditioning gave welcome respite from the heat in summer. Spotlessly clean, with cold water in a fridge and some basic but very welcome breakfast snacks provided in the room. Anna was quick to respond to any questions and happy to let us leave our bags safely for the day after checking out. Happy to recommend and would use again if in Venice for a short stay.
Our family of 4 absolutely loved our stay. The decoration, rooms and building are beautiful, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Excellent location in a lively area with plenty of shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back.
Was listed as a B&B, but didn't have breakfast.
Incredible old Venetian palazzo, with antique furniture, ceiling fresco's and amazing chandeliers, in the middle of Cannaregio area of Venice. Owned by the same family for over 200 years, it feels like you are stepping back in time. Giorgia is an extremely friendly and helpful host, who gave us plenty of recommendations for food and drink. The location is superb too! Surrounded by lovely bars and restaurants, and only a 15 minute walk to Rialto bridge and 21 minutes to San Marco's Piazza. All the key sites in Venice are easily accessible by foot from this beautiful place
Beautiful, historical oasis in otherwise busy city
Beautiful, family-owned property in a quite neighborhood that is close to all sorts of goodies! Room was spacious, the hostess was gracious, accommodating, and provided spectacular recommendations for restaurants all over the city. Would gladly stay here again.
This is a gem. Great location, tucked just off the Main Street so it's not too noisy. Close to water bus stop. Very nice restaurants within 10 min radius behind main strip. Spacious rooms. Somewhat simple bathrooms but very functional. The staff is meticulous about cleanliness. It's renovated relatively. Very comfortable and spacious common areas. We wish we had more time to make use of them.
This is a beautiful home where you are treated with kindness and respect. They have a beautiful garden and common area that offers tea, coffee and cold water. The hostess was amazingly welcoming and spoke excellent English.
Excellent Bed&Breakfast
This is a great place. 10-15 mins walk from St. Lucia station. Also this location is within 20 mins walk from all sites. Excellent location with lots of restaurants and markets. Rooms was excellent and amazingly beautiful and comfortable. Note that checkin time is till 8 PM and after that owner charges fee of 25 euros. Also there is no egg is breakfast which left my family wanting for more but will so many places to eat around we did not feed this as a minus.
I highly recommended the hotel
It was amazing, Georgia is a fantastic person. Service was exceptional
The owner, Giorgia, was delightful and took good care of us. She spent time showing us where places were on the map and how to get there, and recommended places to eat. The hotel is beautiful, and the room we had breakfast in was charming. I would definitely recommend staying here.
A rather odd yet beautiful place to stay...
A bit strange. Very beautiful place yet oddly inflexible. For example, they tell you where to sit at breakfast and will sit you at the smallest table on the side of the room even when the entire dining room is empty. So you need to sit at the tiny table, looking at the larger nicer table in the middle of the room as it's empty. Breakfast is also largely packages foods with a few fresh items. The woman who runs the place is very nice but is unable to answer question beyond the most superficial ones. The beds and pillows are hard and uncomfortable. Yet again, it's very beautiful and well maintained. Yet would not stay there again.
Not worth it
The location was a bit far from the main attractions in Venice. While the history of the location was incredible, their attention to little details was very nice, it was clean. But the room was very warm with no real air to come through the window and no fan. The beds were incredibly hard and uncomfortable and short. It was not a very comfortable night sleep.
Perfect for a get-away
We received an email from the property owner a few days ahead of time to coordinate our arrival. She met us in the lobby and showed us to our room and gave us a brief history of this family owned house converted into small hotel. The room was clean and fully appointed. Beautiful old world property going back centuries. The included breakfast was also served by the owner and had everything you would need. great location - easy walk from the train station. A wonderful find.
Very clean, large rooms. Lovely location. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent coffee. However, on the down side, the towels were literally threadbare and worn out with holes in them. The hot water tap for making tea in the communal area did not work, and there were no tea / coffee facilities in the rooms. The breakfast was limited and disappointing. Overall, not a bad place to stay, but overpriced and oversold as "luxury".
Highly recommend
It was really beatiful and comfrtable B&B. Very convenient place to stay. Close to train station and good restaurant and mart.
Excellent service. The place itself it's styled after a typical Venetian house and positioned along the main walking road. Pluses are the delicious breakfast and helpful staff.
Really nice place, perfect for a little break away from home, everything you need!
Antico Portego
Perfect accommodations. Georgia was incredible, the room was perfect.
Very nice horel. Just you need to come end enjoy! Very happy nice hiliday
Beautiful building, lovely, clean room, welcoming staff, delicious breakfast.
Exquisite B&B
The hotel is stunningly homey. Very friendly staff. Beautiful building and room.
Gracious host, special room in special building. Interesting area , easy access from the airport.
Very good
Excellent service and location
Thank you Geogia
Great B&B in the middle of a solid neighborhood. Not as busy as near Saint-Marc... which is why we picked it. The owner helped us choose restaurants and make reservations. Really helpful and would go back.
Love this place..
Great suggestions and service from our host Georgia. The property was very well kept with lots of character. A very pleasant stay. Welcoming resident dog Giuseppe too! Hope to be back someday. Thanks Georgia
Beautifully restored home.
The hotel is great. They did a great job restoring this 16th century home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a really nice courtyard to sit in and it's very quiet.
Charming, comfortable and clean hotel.
The hotel is very clean and has a lot of charm. The rooms were large and comfortable and even had views of the street below. There is a personal and very professional atmosphere in the hotel. The cleaning staff was excellent too. We would have liked to have extra keys to our room since it isn't easy to get into the building when no one is in the office.
Incredible Service
My husband and I needed a place to stay for a night, since we decided to fly into Venice a day early from the other members of our group. Our flight ended up with a nine hour delay, and did not arrive until after midnight! Giorgia was so friendly and accommodating, even though we kept her awake. The room was comfortable and clean. The water and snacks provided in the main area were so helpful after our long delay. A light Breakfast was included in our room. The location is not far from San Marco or Rialto, easily walking distance. My suggestion for other travelers is to try to venture outside the area around the B&B for lunch or dinner.
Wonderful stay
Communication prior to arrival was excellent for our group of 8. We felt like guests in a private home and our host, Georgia helped with every request. The photos do not do the property justice. It has been remodeled in a classical style with great attention to detail.
Friendly and Traditional B&B
Lovely traditional venician B&B in the heart of the Cannaregio district of Venice which is away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist attractions yet still within a relatively short walk to the main sights. There are still plenty of shops and restaurants around the B&B which are nice and if you don't want to be fughting for a seat along with the masses around the main attractions. We were greeted at the front door of the B&B by a lovely helpful young man (sorry I forgot your name) who then welcomed us inside, told us about the B&B facilities, gave us a map of the area pointing out all the sights to visit, restaurant recommendations, where to get boat tickets etc and then helped carry our luggage up to our room. Rooms were lovely and clean, comfortable and very quiet which makes for a great nights sleep after being on your feet all day. Breakfast has a good selection to get you off to a good start in the morning but may not provide a wide enough choice perhaps for those with a larger appetite but on the whole you will not go hungary. We had a lovely stay here and the staff were very friendly and accommodation. I would certainly recommend to my family and friends and they would not be disappointed.
Lovely boutique style hotel in the heart of Venice
A lovely hotel in the heart of Venice close to many of the attractions. Was greeted by the lovely owners who live on site and went through recommendations for travel, food etc. The price was quite steep for what it was but it was clean and close to everything.
Very cozy 16th century Family Hotel in Cannaregio.
Antico Portego is a Family run, small size hotel in a 16th century building located in Cannaregio. About 10 min from Santa Lucia train station and conveniently located to further explore Venice. The Staff is professional and Polite and ready to help with any questions from guests. There is plenty to see and do in "La Serenissima" but it is equaly nice to come back to some cozy accomodation. For Art lovers, go and see Chiesa madonna dell'orto, and Scuola grande di san rocco (Magnificent Tintoretto Cycle of Paintings) and of course L'accademia, Peggy Guggenheim Gallery (both located in Dorsoduro not far apart) Then there is St Marks Basilica and Doge's Palace and a whole raft of great Churches around Venice where you can experience the 5 greatest Venetian Painters: Titian, Tintoretto,Veronese, Bellini and Carpaccio. If you have time left over after all that, go and visit Murano (Famous Glass!) and Burano by boat. Some advise: Take good walking shoes!
Wonderful Place to Stay
Great place to stay. Close to the ghetto and a 20-30 minute walk to the main attractions, it is in a wonderful quiet spot. There are good restaurants all around (follow Giorgia's recommendations!). Giorgia makes sure you have everything you need. Breakfast is good, wi fi is fast, the bed in very confortable.
Beautiful
This hotel was beyond our expectation in beauty and comfort.
Delightful!
This hotel is a hidden gem in a wonderful city. The character of the rooms and hotel in general is outstanding, and the hosts are very friendly and helpful with recommendations for restaurants, tourist activities, and local sites to see
A great night in Venice!
My friends and I stayed in this hotel for a night over the weekend. The location is excellent - a 10 minute walk from the train station and a 25 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Our accommodations were beautiful, quiet, and clean. Hotel staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. A map to the city was provided upon arrival, which was very helpful, and breakfast the next morning was delicious. Would definitely recommend Antico Portego to anyone staying in Venice.

The staff was very friendly and the location pretty good. Also the room was quite clean.
