The property is extremely tired. Being so much ran down, it is impossible to keep it clean, no matter how much the staff tries to. Wardrobe-size bathroom It boasts 4 stars; in most countries it would struggle to defend 2.
Very central car park 2 minutes away lovely room every thing I needed nice hotel would go again recommend it
Quiet Solo Summer Trip
Really central hotel to the halfway point between Hastings and Saint Leonard’s, very walkable and safe. Beautiful view of the beach and rooms were very comfortable front desk and housekeeping very accommodating.
Great nights stay there. Clean, quiet, close to the station and other venues along the seafront.
An elderly property essentially on the esplanade. Of course that means no lift making it inaccessible for some. On the other hand the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was good and the price was incredibly low. This might have been because I visited "off season" but it was certainly about half the cost of any other lodging I used during a two-week trip across the south coast. I'd definitely go back again.
Great location, needs a bit of update in the property.
Room was small and windows at front of property are single-glazed, so road noise comes through. We were very impressed by the cleanliness, particularly of the bathroom, and overall our stay was good value.
Stay was pleasant but enhanced by receptionist Diana who was efficient, cheerful and very good humoured.
Excellent views, quiet hotel, would stay again!
Short walking distance to the beach
The manager/owner, Wendy, is friendly and helpful. The area, fronting the sea, is seedy. If driving, you should use the secured underground park.
Nice place to stay. Friendly staff. Wonderful location!
The landlady was really inviting and everything was fine except that I didn't put that I struggle with stairs! There aren't any rooms on the ground floor. My fault for not selecting the option on your search. The hotel next door was boarded up, so this gave a bad impression of the area.
Good central location, near beach and retail center
Had a great stay at Alexander's. Room was tidy and clean, and staff were very friendly and responsive. Will stay again.
Friendly welcome, comfortable stay. Great seafront location and quick access to town and old town.
another lovely stay at Alexanders
All round, very pleasant
Nice place the only downside is that you can't check in until 16:00 and check out is at 10:30
We arrived before the scheduled check in but with no UK sim could not call ahead. Keith was fabulous and came to let us in so we could get rid of our heavy cases for a day of exploring. Much appreciated.
Amazing value, very quiet, very clean, absolutely recommended
Beautiful family run hotel, accommodates to your arrival as can self-check in. Perfect as somewhere to stay when visiting Hastings.
Lovely sea view room and very accommodating host
Needed a room asap as no trains all week for me to get to work in ore, reasonably priced, clean and comfy room
Lovely people, very cosy stay
Beautifully clean. Well appointed.
Bang for your Buck
I really appreciated early check-in and also wifi great - shampoo/shower gel -
Just arrived back from a lovely stay at the Alexandra. We had a beautiful, clean Seaview room, room very compact but cosy, clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly, cannot fault this guest house at all and will definitely book here again, thank you for a lovely stay Amanda xx
Short break
Great location for exploring Hastings and surroundings. Paid parking very close to hotel. Large comfortable room with tea/coffee making facilities.
Lovely
Small room but had everything I needed for a short stay: comfy bed, powerful shower, smart TV, mini fridge etc. Hotel located right on the seafront which is ideal - if I was staying longer I would have paid extra for a sea view room. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. Only downside of the hotel is that you can't check in till 4pm but this is only a minor issue. Overall a lovely stay and I would return :)
Very friendly staff, very easy
Avoid this place!! Broken bed with dirty sheets, uneven floor so those with vertigo or mobility problems will find this challenging, bedding and towels damp & covered in make up so clearly hadn’t been changed from previous guest, pubic hair in the sink, shower never been cleaned blocked plug hole so water ran out and down the slope to the carpet. Also covered in rust and mould in the shower. No hot water. Greasy smears over the windows and questionable marks over the headboard. Stuffy. Smelly. Unable to open windows. Run down. I’ve stayed in cleaner and better quality hostels for less! The positive reviews I suspect were probably fake! Really disappointed. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
Grear place
The welcome I received from Francesca was very comforting. The place is in a great location, I would recommend it.
Spotlessly clean, brilliant location. So much to do for families and endless options of restaurants/bars
Good
Lovely stay
Room quite small but very clean and tidy. Seaview lovely. Was good to have a fridge as weather scorching and needed plenty of cold drinks. Stairs were a bit of a killer going up. Traffic noisy with windows open. Close to everything. Parking just opposite and pretty reasonable value.
Really pleased with hotel and very relaxing and lovely. Loved sea views and sitting on balcony and nice breakfast. Made very welcome.
Kind and frienly staff, great location.
Sea view room
Lovely sea view room
Was very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend will be retuning with family
Lovely view - restrictive check-in/out times
Lovely room with a great view and friendly staff. Very comfortable bed. Only downside was late check-in starting time (4pm) and will not consider a late check out at all.
Weekend stay at Alexander’s hotel, Hastings
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, hotel had a homely feel. Rooms were good value for the price, very clean, plenty of tea/coffee. Excellent location on the seafront with local attractions nearby and bars and restaurants. Would book again.
First class view
A Balcony! Overlooking the sea and a really open outlook in all directions. Less than 5 minutes from the town. Danielle, a young Spanish lady was really happy, cheerful, friendly and efficient. She is a great asset to this property.
Lots to like
We liked Alexander's and would stay again. A warm welcome to a good seafront location was reinforced by a clean and comfortable (if small) room. The seaview is worth paying a little extra for - it's also on the sunny side of the building, although there is some road noise too. We didn't need parking or breakfast so can't comment on those. One thing to note about rooms with balconies is that some of these are extend across neighbouring rooms, so beware what you might share!
One night overnight stay
Only had 1 night here but was very comfortable and very clean. Couldn’t stay for breakfast as was continuing a journey and the seafront parking was free until 9 am so had to get away. Would recommend the guest house without a doubt.
Peaceful and scenic
My room was exactly as in the photos. Clean, comfy bed, and just the right amount of heating. Loved the sea view in my room, and the breakfast I received was perfect. My room unfortunately suffered from an unexpected leak from the ceiling and the manager (?) was extremely helpful and kind and sorted everything out right away. If I come for another visit to Hastings I would definitely stay here again. Many thanks to the staff :)
Lovely
Apart from horrendous time with the parking, which was my fault as I got lost! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
A great break away
The hotel was in a good central position. The only downside was no free parking but that is to be expected in a seaside town. As it was on the front it was quite noisy with traffic but the views over the sea did compensate for this.
Very pleasant stay
Very friendly and helpful staff, nice room, great location! But the breakfast window between 7:30 and 8:30 is very early... we would have loved to sleep in a bit longer on our holidays.
Lovely b&b
Lovely small b&b , location perfect , service with a smile ,underground car park right outside hotel only £8 for 24hrs
Weekend in Hastings
We had great welcome when we arrived we was shown everything the was very clean and the bed was very comfortable the bathroom had a lovely shower the ladies came round and made sure were stocked up with everything and made it was kept clean loved my stay will definitely come back
Daniella, on the my desk, is exceptionally helpful and very welcoming.
The property is in a good location but has No hot water for showering
Lovely stay - some tips for travellers!
I wanted a single room but have limited mobility and a top floor room (the only single shown on booking) would be very difficult for me. I telephoned the very helpful receptionist, Daniela, who moved me to a first floor room, which I was able to cope with. Breakfast was great; my only issue being that it’s served very early (between 7.30am to 8.30am during the week and 8am - 9am at weekends). Accordingly, since I wanted a bit of a lie in on my short break, I only had breakfast in the hotel once. I found an excellent all day breakfast venue a short walk away in Robertson Street ( the ‘Castle View Cafe’). Finally, the parking is pricey near the hotel - I found the best value was to pay for 24 hours at a time (£8) in the Underground car park at Carlisle Parade (only a short walk from the hotel).
Clean and comfortable
Really lovely room over looking the seafront, clean and comfortable. Lovely breakfast too
Great Location, rooms are very clean and has all you need. Shower pressure was like a power shower. Breakfast was great, quickly cooked and good value for money. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Cant fault it, Would definitely recommend and stay again
We enjoyed the sea view from our room and the breakfast offered was excellent.
amazing view
Amazing location ,dream view from balcony Will be staying again and telling everyone I know about alexanders
Two night break
Nice hotel overlooking the sea. Lovely breakfast both mornings good quality produce. We were up on the 3rd floor so quite a few stairs to climb but well worth it for the view.Had a great meal in Nazars restaurant which is about 100 yards away. The hotel is perfectly situated for everything.
The location was great.Staff were very welcoming and the food was good and plentiful. The only downside was the weather but that obviously out of their control.
The property is very clean but basic. The room was nicely decorated with a well fitted bathroom. The shower was good. There is no lift which is a problem when the room is on the 4th floor! Also, they didn't explain how the door key worked and we thought we were were locked out but it was OK! Breakfast was lovely and good value for money.
Great little basic hotel
Stayed in room 3 on second floor. Lovely view, with good facilities and great value for money. Very friendly staff and good breakfast. A couple of little niggles though, some out of date milk in the room and a couple of hairs in the bed
Great position!
Well-situated in the middle of the Hastings/St Leonards seafront and just a few mins' walk from the town centre. Parking was easy and relatively cheap. Staff were helpful: as we were going to arrive late, they were happy to arrange self-check in using a keysafe outside.
Excellent place to stay!!
The staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was excellent, much more than I was expecting - room was slightly outdated but performed as needed. The room was very clean and had a great amount of extras. Would highly recommend, I will definitely be staying here again.
Nice property on the highway across from the beach. Rooms are small but functional. Staff is excellent. Highway is a bit noisy starting early in the morning, but this also would be a problem with most lodging facing the water in Hastings.
This is a little boutique-style small hotel. We had a family room with a gorgeous view of the seaside. The room was clean and well appointed. It also had a tv and free wifi. We also had a private bathroom. If you’ve travelled lots in Europe, you know that’s not always a given. Breakfast times are clearly marked on the dining room and a notice is in your room reminding you. Breakfast is a full breakfast. Your belly will be happy after! This is not a high-end hotel with endless staff who can attend to you at all hours. As far as I could tell, there were the 2 owners and 1 other person working there. Which is fine. It’s well run, well appointed, and CLEAN. Wonderful value for what you get. The seaside views face a busy street, so if you’re a light sleeper, get a room in the back. This is going to be true of every hotel along the seaside in Hastings. There is no lift, and there looked the be 4 floors. We were on the first floor (1 above street level, for North Americans). If you have a lot of luggage, you will have to carry it. This is common in smaller hotels in England, and indeed throughout Europe. I would definitely go back.
Hotel good, but customer service needs improving.
Hotel was clean, room was a good size, just a few negative points. There were a lot of stairs to the 2nd floor, being an old Victorian terrace building. Breakfast seemed to only be available between 07:30 and 08:30 yet check was not until 10:30. Biggest issue was that around 08:45 they turned off the water to the room as they had a plumber in. Not able to shower, wash hands, clean teeth or flush the loo was rather bad between getting up and checking out. One lady was in the shower and the plumber came into her room!!! The plumber blamed the staff as he was told everyone was out. The staff blamed the plumber as they said he had to turn the water off. That did not help us. They offered to turn it back on about an hour later, helpful! Not!
Perfect place to stay
The hotel was lovely, really friendly staff, the rooms was clean, the pillows were a bit too hard for my liking but apart from that, it was perfect for us.
This is a great location being so close to the sea and near the pier
Just what was needed!
Very clean, comfortable, friendly staff & fantastic sea view.
Neat
My early arrival with my lack of clarity to check in etc was frustrating .....but Danielle the receptionsit soothed me ....her disposition made up...
Staying at the Alexander hotel was lovely. It was also very relaxing and comfortable.
My first floor double room was tiny, 2 people could not have used this room and been comfortable. Worst of all it absolutely stank of cigarettes. The room was totally overpriced for hastings out of season and I would not stay here again
Very good hotel, location excellent, staff friendly, breakfast good all round VG glad I chose Alexander's
Clean and comfortable rooms, beds were very comfy, plenty of hot water. Furniture a bit tired, but as we were only staying 1 night it was fine. Sea view rooms were a little noisy at night because of the passing traffic, but the gorgeous view made up for that. Breakfast was good.
Ideal position to explore Hastings
The hotel is small as are the rooms but it is so close to everywhere in Hastings. My room had a balcony which was great for watching the world go by. Although room small it was a nice room. We arrived early and was allowed to leave cases there. There is no parking but really cheap parking under the pier £3 for 24 hours. I would certainly stay again.
Nice little hotel
Nice, clean little hotel. Ideal location for the town centre, with the shops a five minute walk away and places to eat. There's parking nearby, in the underground car park, for which you get a parking permit from the hotel. The only issue me and my friend had, was being in single back bedrooms, they were a bit chilly on arrival, as there was no heating on! Also, being a Friday night, the noise from the local pubs at night.
Better service is needed.
Old facility, not much of service.
Lovely British style seaside B&B, right on the seafront looking over the sea, and we were able to leave our windows open all night, and we could hear the waves crashing all night! The owners and staff were very friendly and curtious, they even carried our suitcases up 6 flights of stairs! The room itself was clean, bathroom fairly small, but again it was all clean and in working order.
comfortable hotel with friendly, close to the sea front, shops. Plenty of things to do in Hastings with good public transport to other places worth a visit in East Sussex .
Just a quick night away
We were attending a 70th birthday party so needed somewhere to stay and I found this hotel. The communication from the start was excellent so no complaints there. The room was OK, bed was a little too soft for our liking but wasn't too bad. Bathroom small but functional, but the shower tiles could do with a steam clean. Had an ironing board, mini fridge plus coffee and tea facilities so all good, plus free WiFi bit I didn't use as I have good 4G. Unfortunately breakfast is served between 8 and 9 on a Sunday, but I read it as 9 to 10, but the hotel sorted us out by refunding the breakfast cost which was very decent of them. Parking, plenty available and free overnight until 10am at the weekend so all good. We met the owner as we were leaving, very nice chap and everyone we spoke to was very nice and friendly and we were made to feel welcome. Would we go back ? Yes, but next rime will make sure we are in the Restaurant in time for breakfast !
Ok service. Facility is old and need updated.
Nice hotel, lovely sea views
Good quality hotel, great views. No lift - it's a long walk to the higher floors. The member of staff that we dealt with seemed stressed and was even quite rude when we asked for help with the shower.
Beautiful seaside view. Would recommend
We had a beautiful sea view. The room was small, but clean and tidy. There was also a fan in the room, which was necessary as England has been quite warm recently. Parking was not a hassle and there were plenty of spaces in the underground parking.we only stayed one night, but would have gladly stayed a few more. The hotel staff was friendly and showed us the room and how to get to parking. We did not get breakfast at the hotel, got something from a local shop and ate on the beach. I would recommend Alexander’s, it was a quick drive to Battle Abbey which was well worth the visit, the audio tour is a must. Didn’t do much else in town, strolled around the seaside, lots of restaurants and shops.
Great Location but ...
Everything was fine apart from yesterday as our room was left open when they cleaned it. Thankfully nothing was stolen. Staff memeber bombard you with messges when you'll be arriving
Very central location
Very nice hotel close to shops short walk to the old town close to beach very clean and staff very friendly
Alexander's Hastings
Good value for money
Nice Place
Excellent beach front location. Good breakfast. Close to all the shopping and restaraunts.
Great location close to amenities
Clean and comfortable room at a fair price and friendly, helpful staff. Enjoyed my stay there and would book again. Didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on that.
Reasonable hotel for one night stay.
Close to centre, and theatre which is why we chose it.
Convenient
Hastings is a great place and the hotel is centrally located. Everything went very smoothly
Amazing views. Close to Old Town
Really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely book here again next time!
Great Location, needs investment
Shower head was broken, bed was either broken or Just very uncomfortable, The douvet had dirt on it when i arrived - don't know wether IT was washed actually ( I assume it was a mixture of blood and probably even more disgusting Things...)... Additional there was No lift and i Had to carry my luggage to The top Floor myself. AS i am a Young man that was No Problem but i don't want to know how old people or Young women would feel... nevertheless The staff sent an email to me in advance and offered me an early Check-in Off time. That was very Kind and friendly. The Location was awesome and The Room and Hotel, except for The douvet, was Clean as Well ( very old but that is good!). Free hot drinks and THe WiFi was working fine, mostly. The beach is Just one step from The front Door and all important sights and Shops AS Well AS Restaurants could be reached very quickly. Just repair The facilities and Spend some more Money on this great estate and it will become awesome again.
on the seafront
We booked a double room with a sea view. Found the room to be far too small. There was no wardrobe in the room, only a rack with 5 hangers on it. The room was on the top floor, so had to walk about 9 flights of stairs...very dissapointed with the room & I feel I was overcharged for our stay. The price did not reflect a high standard.
For price of £80 we expected more. Stuff ok, location ok, quite hotel. But no sitting room or dining room.
Expensive but nice guest house
We had a lovely sunny stay in Hastings, and our stay at Alexander's was pleasant, albeit expensive for the room size and lack of breakfast. I paid extra for a sea view room and the views didn't disappoint, but even as we were being shown our room the owner apologised for it being small. I think the price we paid for this room was excessive - although I would recommend everything else about the hotel. Location and everything else was fantastic.
Very Small Room.
Small room, small bathroom, old & tired. TV not working, so called for help, was fixed but was told "you don't get BBC1" when asked why - "you don't get it" the thing I don't get is how they justify £90 per night. Internet barely worked, curtains didn't meet, just lacked all the amenities you would expect for that price. Will not stay again there has to be better than that in Hastings?
Lovely B&B overlooking the seafront
Lovely B&B overlooking the seafront, sited between the town and the pier. Parking was good in the underground car park, foot entrance right outside the hotel.
I liked waking up being able to look out the window and see the beach across the street. When low tide comes, the rocky beach turns nice with muddier sand still perfect for the kiddos. Extremely easy parking, and with mcdonalds, costa and café nero literally right around the corner, it was a great place to stay before heading over to the battlefield at battle, only about 6 miles away.
